...but if you're hosting the images yourself, you can include as many as you like in the main description with no charge.
yeah that's what I'm saying look at the link in the OP, 1 picture of the bass in the top left of the listing. All other pics within the text so no charge.
 2.
You're going to have to explain that one... sorry!
IIRC there is a charge for each of the pics on the top left that you click on? Doing an image for the text means you can include pics as part of the image and not be charged. For some businesses whose major sales income comes from ebay a couple of quid saved on each sale soon adds up.
 3.
Lovely. It does puzzle me why these people choose to have their auction text as an image, rather than 'real' text..
because you can include more pictures without being charged?
 4.
good 'un Al Heeley ! the piano was the successor to the harpsichord I think (if that's wrong - please someone say so) around the 1700's or so. The harpsichord wasn't tuned in 'even' intervals, which made it sound out of tune when played in certain keys ( the same way that if you tune a guitar to sound really nice in one key, it may sound not quite right in others). The answer to this awkwardness with changing keys was to invent an instrument tuned in 'even' intervals - the piano.
Not quite, 'well tempered tuning' was used on the harpsichord and clavier before the piano, hence Bach's compostion 'the well tempered clavier' in which the same instrument - his clavier - played pieces that go through all keys.
 5. middle C is the note between the bass and treble clef staves.
 6. come on 'fess up we are all dying to know! Which lucky [s]bast [/s]person now owns it?
 7.
Downside? It's 54" long (about 2" longer than a Thunderbird) & the case is enormous. Gigbag? That'd be nice but they're all too small. Pete.
my Hamer Blitz (Explorer shape) fits nicely in one of these: Warwick RB 20624 B/PLUS for BC Rich Ironbird, MockBird, Thunderbird Bass Guitar http://www.9mileguitar.com/product.sc?prod...;categoryId=105

 9. like it and love the mirrored plate. Now all you have to do is make sure you have a light shining at it when you are on stage
Heh! I have to admit ignorance here and tell you that I don't know who Phil Lynott is! <--- Classical/Jazz musician!
he's the bloke who married Leslie Crowther's daughter.

 11. I've used a Hartke 4x10 combo in a rehearsal studio and got a great tone I liked. But at the SE bash I jammed with the drummer through a GK 400RB head (think that was the model - definately a GK though) and for me it was so much better. I like a big fat rock tone and the low mid punch on the GK was exactly how I like it. There's a lot of love on here for both Hartke and GK, ultimately the only right choice is the ones your ears make.
 12. hey welcome! don't forget to put pics of your Zoot in the Iceni thread
 13.
At least they don't take themselves too seriously
"this can colour the sound and the mood from demurely subtle to wantonly filthy"
 14.
Phew! That's not too shabby at all for your first four years! I wonder what the next four will bring?!
budget bassist? not from bass 4 onwards
 15.
Strange thread this- like what is overated?- seems to me this thread is about technique not musical ability. Theres a quote on here that says Jamerson would be a better bass player if he played with two fingers- no doubt some bright spark will say he would be better if he slapped or double thumbed. Both suggestions however will miss the point its not how you play but WHAT you play. There will never be another as successful as Jamerson and his music will be listened to in 100 years- same as the beatles and mozart. Can you say the same about Level 42 ( I still think Mark King is a terrific bass player though) - but its just chops. Bob
the Jamerson thing was possibly me? My post was in reply to Jamerson comments before, and I stand by it. After Motown he didn't get the work due to his style. In no way was I saying he was overrated, but if he had adapted - which he was unwilling (unable?) - to do he might still be with us making great music. Jamerson with one finger has his place in history as a musical and bass playing genius/colossus. Jamerson with a picking hand technique to match his musicality would probably have kept working and still be with us.

 17.
The technique that you seem to be using sounds,to me,like what Bernard Edwards used to call 'chucking'. I believe he did it on the middle section of 'Le Freak'.
so I'm not being lazy, I've just been directly influenced by Bernard Edwards. That works
 18.
That's my gigging machine - a 1963 Precision with added Di Marzio J pickup. I started playing seriously the same year but it's in slightly better condition than I am. It's natural wear, not yer reliced by a kid with a carbide disc.
19.
First, the bad news. Stupidy, I thought it would be OK to perch my Walkabout head on top of Born 2B Mild's Genz Shuttle, on top of two Barefaced Compacts. And it was fine. Until it fell off: The damage... well, it doesn't work! Bent handle, and buzzing when you fire it up. It hums when you apply pressure to the front panel.
00.27secs "oh dear!" Nah seriously I feel your pain and can empathise, hope it can be sorted easily. What was the mojoed looking P leaning against then GK rig?
 20.
Got mine from WH Smith today, there's a small feature by ped on the BC SE Bass Bash, with photo.
can someone scan and post it? ta
 21. can only remember one, a few years ago (6) at the Garage in that London. Not particularly friendly but she did us proud soundwise - we sounded great - so can't complain. I remember they had some signs around the band areas along the lines of 'we don't care if you're David Bowie, our job is to get the bands on then off and we're not gonna take crap from you or your sh1tty little band'. Anyone else remember that?
