i originally learned the modes the hard way on a jazz course (which was disguised as a popular music course) by learning the notes of the scales and remembering the box patterns. Years later after fogetting most of it all, I got Billy Sheehan's video, where he explained modes in terms of one pattern (major scale) all over the neck. Simply use different degrees on the pattern for the new roots of the modes. Opened up the bass for me. Respect to Bill

It had a new neck before it came to me, and I had a new body built (both still by Mike) so I can't really make any point about the weight issue now

The first Yes I heard was Save the Whale. So it wasn't until Owner of a Lonely Heart that I listened to them again.

I've owned a few basses over the years, but the one that works for me is the custom one I had built didn't cost peanuts though

still haven't bothered renewing, still not missing it. Imperfections are one thing, but from what is being posted here there are some whoppers still going on with BGM.

it's a bit too far ahead to say for definite, but if MU members get in for free like at the Guitar show, I'd be up for it.

If this were any other bass than a Hamer, I'd be saying cool mod, the SG shape is the way to go. But being a Hamer-phile - aaarrrgggghhhhh! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
