Thanks for reminding me about that, I've been meaning to check it out for ages and it's now on my list for tomorrow 🤜 Another good choice, although the production isn't quite as raw sounding as their previous albums ,which is a shame imo. My favourite so far has been Drool by Part Chimp. Going to see them in a few weeks too and I can't wait! Welfare Jazz by Viagra Boys is a close 2nd. On the flip side, I was quite disappointed with Arrows by Red Fang. They're one of my favourite bands and it's not a bad album, but the production seems to have sucked all the low end out. Maybe it sounds better to guitarists.

How many bottles do they have to fosters in to meet their targets on urinary volume? 🤔 I use them for a lot of things to be honest. Like others have said, for price and efficiency, they're hard to beat. When it's music related buys I try to buy from a shop, or at least an online music shop. For gifts and that I try Etsy first, but prime next day delivery is pretty handy when I've forgotten a bday!

That Waterstone is lovely and I really like that scroll top horn. I was looking around at potential basses to use and the Ibanez Jet King really fits the bill with the retro look. They're not the cheapest of cheap basses to use though. If a cheapo Bronco or Talman come up near me then I may be tempted for a bit of fun

Ah nice! I keep on toying with the idea of picking up a beater short scale and having a go, but then I think it may just sit in a corner gathering dust after a couple of weeks. I haven't got a band situation I could use it in, so it'd just be for noodling around on and playing some Morphine tunes on. Was there any reason why you chose fretless over fretted?
-
There's a few topics over on TB about him, his gear and setup etc, but there doesn't seem to be much over here. I was just wondering if anyone has played any slide bass or setup a 2 string bass? Here's some Morphine for your listening holes

Nice, very nice. They really are lovely basses with a wide range of tones available. Good luck with and have fun with it. I have to stop reading all these Casady bass topics, it's no good for GAS and makes me regret selling mine!

I really love this one and it works a lot better than it should! https://youtu.be/JR3uz8rq4ng

I think I've got most of it down, but I'm not sure on the pups..... Jazzmaster body 32" scale 40mm at the nut Rosewood glossed board with mother of pearl blocks and binding Vintage frets Vintage tint glossed neck finish G&l hi mass bridge (with a chrome cover that comes with the case candy) When it comes to pups, it'd either be....... Rickenbacker 4003 hi gain single coils in the Ric position, but with a nicer chrome surround for the mid pup so there's not a massive gap around it. Or.... Chrome covered Gibson thunderbird plus pups (the ones that are in the Epiphone t bird classic pro) in the t bird positioning. Pup selector switch, v/v/t/t with a tone bypass switch. As for colours, I really love the 50s pastel colours with the offset body and, because I'm indecisive, let's run with 3 choices - shell pink, surf green and daphne blue. Tort guard as standard and a spare mint one gets chucked in. Just for extra gaudiness it comes with a grey faux snakeskin hard case with pink fur lining. Seeing as it's a bit of a mish mash of different basses, I have no idea who'd make it 🧐 I guess it leans more toward Fender, so let's say it's made in Japan, but I have no idea what the exchange rate is for Yen! Let's say there's a version that comes in at about £8-900 and then a Squier version without the case and extras etc for about £400. I really want this now that I've thought about it!

I think you've answered your own question there, get the vintera! Can't say I've played one, so probably aren't of much use, but if you like the neck and would have bought it then, then go for it! I've played a player series P, and really liked it, but as Lozz has said, the neck on the vintera is quite a bit chunkier so I think they're different beasts. Plus seafoam green is pretty sexy!

The only sig bass I've ever owned was the Epiphone Jack Cassady, I picked it up because it's a lovely hollow body for not a lot of money. I'm not the biggest fan of his work, it's just a really nice bass. I almost bought the Marcus Miller Fender Jazz once, I really liked it and thought it was fairly unique. I don't get sig models that are just a standard axe in their finish. I don't know whats so special about the Dee Dee Ramone sig, I'm sure it's nice, but how different is it to any other white p bass? The name on the headstock doesn't bother me and I don't think I'd buy a bass just because it had the sig of someone I loved on it. Quite the opposite, I have a Mark Tremonti PRS SE, which is a lovely guitar and I'd go so far as saying I bloody hate Creed and Alter Bridge!

I like both, but stick to parallel the majority of time. I do love the extra grunt and darkness that switching to series brings, but most of the time I want my jazz to sound like a jazz and want that treble-tastic bite
-
I bought a bass off of them a few months ago and didn't have any surprise charges, it arrives pretty quickly too. They've got a pretty generous returns policy too (think it's 90 days?), I ended up sending it back and getting a refund without a hitch. I think I've read a thread here where a few people have had issues with them, but my experience has been fine.

I think everyone has pretty much nailed it already, but I'll throw my 2 cents into the hat...... I'd look to get my hands on a grubby beaten up p, whack some aggy pups in it like EMG gzr, model P or SD quarter pounders, whack a sansamp bddi in your chain and grab a thick pick. Don't forget the snarl, gob on the front row and glass someone after the gig. You're all set!
-
I'm not sure, they could well be sold out. We have a WhatsApp group and whenever a gig comes up someone buys a load of tix and we fill the spaces, I'm pretty sure someone said they got tix, but can't say for sure! We've also got our eyes on the Viagra Boys gig in May next year. Oh, and Desertfest! The Tropic is a great little venue and always has good bands on!
-
That's what I had thought too. Either way, that Jazz looks rather tasty!
-
I've got tix for Part Chimp on 26th Nov and Pigsx7 1st Dec. I've also got my eye on Amyl and The Sniffers on 24th Nov but, with a new baby on the way in the next couple of weeks, I may be pushing my luck a bit!
-
Ahhh, that makes more sense. Either way, it's pretty addictive! 😂
-
I started off using my fingers almost exclusively, but now I tend to float between the 2. Nowadays it's mostly pick. Brass for the noisey band.... And then it's fingers or one of these 2 for the blues lot.....

I know this is a weird thing to say, but I love the smell of my Ric 😂 I've never really noticed the smell of other basses I've owned, but the Ric does have a specific smell to it, maybe its the maple? My case is also buggered, was it the feet by any chance? RickySounds sell a repair kit if you fancied fixing yours... https://www.rickysounds.co.uk/product/rickenbacker-case-repair-kit-black-plastic/

Sounds like you need slippy fingers, get some wd40 on them 😂
-
Very true! Pretty much everything they lay their hands on sounds like gold to my ears and their tone, both live and on record, is just amazing! Which reminds me.......when's their new album out? There was talk of about 10 tunes being recorded before the pandemic and last time i saw them there was about 3 new songs in the set. Hopefully they'll release it when touring becomes feasible.

Bob Weston - Travis Bean TB2000 Who needs all those controls?

Fender Player Plus....more blurred lines or a smart move?
Jonesy replied to merello's topic in Bass Guitars
I was a bit disappointed with these and don't think the differences in spec are worth the price hike. The fades aren't my thing, but the silver burst HSS strat is nice and it'd be cool if they released a bass in that finish. A mate recently picked up a strat from GuitarGuitar that I think was one of their exclusives. It's essentially a player series, but with a roasted maple neck, custom shop pups and it came in just under 800 quid. If there was a bass equivalent released then I'd be very tempted. -
Here's my family, and the bonus inclusion of Betty on the couch asleep!

M guessing you have this sorted already, but GAK have a next day delivery service too and are worth a go
