  1. Very nice, I bet it has a lovely thump to it
  2. There's something cool about Guild basses, I really like the Jet Star too. Kinda looks like a thunderbird has been left out in the sun all day, or is drunk.
  3. I love the guitar version of this, maybe because of the Kim Thayl/Soundgarden connection, and have never seen its 4 string brother turn up......until now. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/294279908292?hash=item4484730bc4:g:TnIAAOSwJuBg8quB It just ooozes cool!
  4. Yet another happy customer! Bought a loom off John for my Jazz - VVT with series/parallel and tone bypass, it's transformed my bass into a monster! Top notch workmanship, super quick delivery and John was super helpful with all my questions. Thanks again for everything!
  5. I thought we were an anarcho syndicalist commune?
  6. I think it only happens if I haven't been on the site for a while, I've tried to recreate it a few times since posting and its working OK for me. Let me know if you want any deets on operating system etc
  7. Heya, This doesn't happen all the time. But, occasionally, when I'm on my mobile and click on the menu icon, it only expands out about as far as 'signed' in 'signed in as' and then I have to scroll across to see the full menu. I'm browsing on a Google Pixel 5 & using Chrome. I'll nab a screen grab next time it happens.
  8. How about G&L? If you went with their tribute range then the LB100 already has the hi mass bridge, or the SB2 for the hi mass bridge & US pups, but in a PJ configuration. Or go full fat US LB100 or SB1. They're generally cheaper than their Fender counterparts and the quality is right up there.
  9. Sounds terrible and I think you should get rid of it. Being the charitable gentleman that I am, I could be convinced to give it a good home. As a favour, of course 😁
  10. RIP Dusty. Such a shame to lose him at no age at all. The house band upstairs just got a lot more thump added to it πŸ˜”
  11. Niiiiice. I really dig these and they've got so many cool little touches about them. Have fun with it!
  12. I know, you're supposed to spend the majority of your time lusting over new gear instead of actually playing what you have πŸ™„πŸ˜‚
  13. He's only got 4 basses.........? Sounds like he needs to join up here πŸ˜‚
  14. Don't blame me when you end up buying another bass πŸ˜‚ They are lovely though and if you ever find yourself in North London then you're more than welcome to have a go in mine to see how you get on with it.
  15. I'm the same and don't normally get on with P necks, at least I didn't until I found one that was 40mm and fairly slim back to front. From the sounds of things you'd also like the necks on the Japanese PB 70's 😊
  16. Absolutely gorgeous, glad you're happy with it!!
  17. I use stainless steel rotosound swing bass 50-110 for drop C. There is that drop in tension, but I don't find the low C too floppy, personally. But then again, I use roto's for all my roundwound needs, so am slightly bias!
  18. "David and Nigel are like poets, you know, like Shelley or Byron, or people like that. The two totally distinct types of visionaries, it’s like fire and ice, and I feel my role in the band is to be kind of the middle of that, kind of like lukewarm water."
  19. Currently getting through Tightrope by SRV. Lovely little runs by Tommy Shannon during the solo.
  20. Ah, so this is pretty tempting! I don't suppose you're interested in any trades? And can you let me know what the finish on the back of the neck is like please? Are these satin? If I did have it, I'd be coming up by train, are you far from Sandy station?
  21. I'd deffo only pay for it when collecting it too. It'd be a nice bass, but you just get that extra layer of security in case it's not as described or if something doesn't work on it.
  22. It looks to have just about the right amount of mojo too, a few scars, but not too beaten up. As long as you're happy with it when you pick it up then I think it's safe to say it's a really nice bass. I'm with you on the neck and it's often the fat necks that put me off, but the necks on these are sublime. I really like gloss/finished necks and these aren't too sticky, so perfect for me
  23. I think the serial numbers from then were a bit all over the place with a few duplications here and there. The pots would narrow it down for you if you wanted to nail it exactly. Either way it'd be a fantastic bass. I fall in and out out love with Precisions, but the model I have is the best Precision I've ever played and I wouldn't hesitate to pick this one up if I were looking for a new one. Go for it!
