  1. Prince was never as good after this either, sadly.
  2. £130 posted in the UK for the Jam. Jam is in box with canvas bag. Collection possible, £10 off, if thats the case. If the prices are off, feel free to make an offer. £110 for the synth. (Super synth is SOLD) Synth has manual, original power supply but not boxed. Also, to hook it up to a computer you'd need a printer style usb cable, which is not included. Any questions, fire away....
  3. Funnily enough I saw him pop up on the FBass insta feed the other day. Didn't know whether to laugh or what.
  4. Thanks finding it difficult to do whilst multitasking cooking my dinner 😁
  5. The Mighty Burner Charles Earland... https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-E6hetnUbzQ&si=CIujFSlpg2CGq2Zq Ffs, how do you embed the link?
  6. more thoughts from a sample size of 1 (me), I found transitioning to a 5 string fairly easy, but found trying to navigate a 6th string was a much bigger deal for all sorts of reasons which would have required me putting in a load more work in to adjust my playing technique to get the best out of it, which I wasn't prepared to do. Especially annoying because the 6er I had briefly was a very lovely instrument (MTD 635) So, a cheap 5er strung E to C is IMO a good starting point for your experiment. Also, if you decided to move it on for whatever reason, I think a 5er would be easier to sell/trade than a 6er.
  7. All the frets would be slightly further apart.
  8. If you're not sure i would recommend investing in a cheap second hand bass/basses to figure out your preferences. Edit, also if you want to do more chordal playing, 35" will make it harder, depending on how large your hands are. 24 frets probably better for that upper range, and a 19mm string spacing also would be a physical push. Sounds like youre happy with narrow spacing. and also perhaps avoid multi scale basses too. I think a used fretted ibanez gwb35 would be a good bet you you can find one.
  9. There is a photo on this thread on TB, which might be helpful: https://www.talkbass.com/threads/yamaha-trb-4p-circuit.383919/
  10. Yes, but I don't have the original preamp in mine. The previous owner installed another Bart pre (ntmb-918f), with similar controls to a US MTD. Vol (active/passive push/pull), bal, bass/treb, mid and 3-way mid-freq select. It's also running at 18v, so they probably enlarged the battery compartment too to fit the extra battery. It's a fairly tidy job on the battery cavity though, so difficult to say if it was like that originally or not. From the pictures, they may have just removed the original integrated battery holder and then there was just enough space (it's a pretty tight fit) for 2 x 9v. The pickups are barts, and look similar to those in the pictures, so probably original, non-exposed pole pieces.
  11. Just checked my Grendel: Zero fret: 48mm 12th: 68mm 24th: 77mm String spacing at the bridge: 19mm Depth at 12th: 24mm Scale: 35" Sounds like the neck on the Stadium is slightly narrower towards the body, presumably because of the narrower string spacing. It's a very similar neck profile to a US MTD, and my Groove Shoppe GS5 which also has a MT licensed neck. In other words, pretty comfy, asymmetric profile too.
  12. With out knowing the exact budget, its difficult to gauge what "cheap" is. However, if weight is not too much of an issue, it seems to be a great time to buy quality used bass cabs. Many seem to be downsizing or going down the super-light-weight route, so there always seems to me to be a few bargains to be had on the older heavier (in some cases not so heavy) cabs.
  13. Quoting from that notreble marketing blurb “By reducing tendon stress with Thumb Fin’s ergonomic design you will be able to more naturally focus on technique while optimizing joint health,” Can't say i ever felt i needed a thumb rest, or needed one to reduce "tendon stress". IMO it's going to encourage bad technique and make it likelier to increase stress by encouraging a static anchored position. If you really want to focus on technique, this is not the answer.
  14. To my ear, the that guy is playing it an octave up from the isolated track, and i don't hear an open A in there either. Here's the run I'm hearing on my phone speaker, noting that the E string is downtuned to a D. A -5-3- D ---- -6-5-3-0-3-5-0
  15. Well by that logic 😂 balderdash noun senseless talk or writing; nonsense.
  16. I'm enjoying playing at home without the ball-ache of leaving the house. Who knows if I'll play out again, but i don't miss playing with other people at the moment. I've got tinnitus and i don't want to make it any worse than it already is (i do wear earplugs and have done for a long time, that damage was done when i was young and stupid). Also, i'm more likely to stretch myself musically pursuing my own interests at home. At other times I've gone for long periods without playing at all. My interest has always come back when I've just focused on doing the things that i enjoy, and typically that doesn't include making any sort of commitment to others and all that entails.
  17. What's more, the chap has two listings, so two 8x10 at a 100 quid each.
  18. Here's my lockdown bass. Dragonfly Fat Sound that i purchased from Bass Japan Direct, these are the stock photos. I did get some Nordstrand pickups installed, but can't say i really noticed much difference in tone to what was already in there. It's a Koa top on alder body with a rosewood f/b i think, which has an expoxy type finish. I'm very happy with it, and don't have much fretless GAS now. However, i would like to get my hands on a Fbass BNF at some point, or a Fender Victor Bailey j.
