  1. To my ear, the that guy is playing it an octave up from the isolated track, and i don't hear an open A in there either. Here's the run I'm hearing on my phone speaker, noting that the E string is downtuned to a D. A -5-3- D ---- -6-5-3-0-3-5-0
  2. Well by that logic 😂 balderdash noun senseless talk or writing; nonsense.
  3. I'm enjoying playing at home without the ball-ache of leaving the house. Who knows if I'll play out again, but i don't miss playing with other people at the moment. I've got tinnitus and i don't want to make it any worse than it already is (i do wear earplugs and have done for a long time, that damage was done when i was young and stupid). Also, i'm more likely to stretch myself musically pursuing my own interests at home. At other times I've gone for long periods without playing at all. My interest has always come back when I've just focused on doing the things that i enjoy, and typically that doesn't include making any sort of commitment to others and all that entails.
  4. What's more, the chap has two listings, so two 8x10 at a 100 quid each.
  5. Here's my lockdown bass. Dragonfly Fat Sound that i purchased from Bass Japan Direct, these are the stock photos. I did get some Nordstrand pickups installed, but can't say i really noticed much difference in tone to what was already in there. It's a Koa top on alder body with a rosewood f/b i think, which has an expoxy type finish. I'm very happy with it, and don't have much fretless GAS now. However, i would like to get my hands on a Fbass BNF at some point, or a Fender Victor Bailey j.
  6. Ah, thats a proper pre-Gibson buyout bass 😁
  7. Is it the black 4 stringer at BC? Looks to be in good condition, but if you look at the specs, I'm not convinced they are accurate and might be a cut and paste job from a different bass. For example the pickups in the picture are clearly Bartolini and i suspect the fretboard could be wenge not rosewood. I'd give them a call to clarify if anything is particularly important to you. Worthwhile trying it too if possible. Price wise, i think it's reasonable, but perhaps not a bargain, for a bass that's probably well over 20years old (mid 90s i think?), but it does come with a 1 year warranty.
  8. Isn't the NG3 a off the shelf bass? FWIW, if you want to ruin the resale value of the Sadowsky then go right ahead.
  9. I have a Grendel, and i believe the Stadiums were rebadged versions branded for the Bass Centre? I've not played a Stadium, but the Grendels have a great rep. As long as there are no issues with it, I'm sure it will be a decent bass.
  10. FYI - in case it matters to you, I don't have a XLR cable to test the DI works (no reason to suspect it doesn't), everything else I know works perfectly, and of course if there were a problem I would cover a full refund and return postage to me. It's boxed and ready to go!
  11. Some useful info here: http://www.ovnilab.com/reviews/bosscs3.shtml
  12. My thoughts, having owned in the past a 5 string NYC, and 5 string Tokyo model (a precursor to the original Metro series). Also played a few back to back at the Sadowsky showrooms in Brooklyn many moons ago, and various others NYC models over the years. Some have sounded great, others not so great. I always missed a mid frequency control on the preamp. Maybe a Will Lee model would have worked better for me in that respect. I've preferred the non-chambered bodies (all the later NYC models have chambered bodies to reduce weight), because they seemed, to my recollection, to feel more solid tonally and feel/balance wise when playing on the strap/knee. If i were going to buy one now, I'd look to find a non-chambered NYC or early Metro /Tokyo basses, both can be found cheaper than the German made basses and will retain their value better IMO. And for what it's worth, buying a Chinese or German made one just wouldn't feel right to me. I'm not in marketing or PR, but i can't help but feel they have devalued their brand in recent years with those ventures. Lastly, they were possibly the original "super jazz" brand, but there are so many other equally good options available. Try a few, and buy the one that looks, feels and sounds the best to you.
  13. Better late than never, perhaps.... 😁 I sold it to @phagor
  14. Worth checking http://www.ovnilab.com/ for reviews and comparison of these pedals. Plus the article in the FAQ about tube compressors.
  15. Nice colour. What exactly has not been reversed? Its definitely the reverse of a regular Thunderbird 😁
  16. Durham Electronics Sex Drive has worked for me
  17. I have an EBS Valve Drive DI (f/s in the classifieds.) I bought it looking for low gain hairyness/saturation and it does that well, but that's a very small part of what it does, and largely does way more distorted than that with the stock tube. Not tried tube rolling, but i guess you could tailor it to your specific needs that way if you had the time and energy to experiment. Definitely a "rock" pedal IMO - i think it sounds great, just too much for me. Similarly i looked at other pedals to do what you describe, and were suggested on the internet - they always seemed to my ears (listening to youtube demos) to always be too much, like an off/on effect with no real subtle response, maybe its how they were demoed rather that the pedal itself. What i really like is the Durham Electronics Sex Drive which does IMO exactly what i was looking for, and it responds to playing dynamics in a more pleasing way than other stuff I've tried. There's a review of it on the Ovnilab website if tou wanted to read more about it. (I just double checked the above with my f/l jazz with flats, so this is from recent memory )
  18. From the EMG ABC installation instructions: Installation notes: The output impedance of the ABC is low, so the existing high resistance volume and tone controls will not work when placed after the ABC. The active tone control (VLPF) is required for tone. Any of the EMG Accessories like the EXB, BTC or BTS Controls, BQC or BQS Controls, or OEM Models B30eq or B64eq can be added as well. I think this is @Hellzero's point?
  19. Hi, yes it is. I will PM you...
