1.
but I really don't feel like doing this
Don't do it then mate. You could always approach it with the attitude of your mind being changed during/after or so, but in my experience most times like this that doesn't happen. I got approached around Xmas time by an old mate who was looking for a bassist to complete an original material line up. I turned it down & now they aren't doing too badly: gigs all the time, decent venues. Another mate asked if I regretted it & TBH no I don't, as I really wasn't a fan of the material I was shown then & I still am not a fan now! If it was just a case of you hesitating then do it. If you "really don't feel like doing this" then don't.
2.
Also managed to learn my first chilli pepers bass line, the adventures of rain dance maggie although the chorus is still causing me a few problems.
Awesome. I worked it out a bit earlier & have just been playing it round & round since. It's a great line & is making me enjoy the song more, I agree about the chorus it's just not what you expect/want it to be.
3. Lovely looking piece of kit, the first Fodera I've seen I've liked the look of! Molan: slightly OT but can I ask what you do? You could probably buy a house with the kit you've listed in your sig lol!
4. Good luck with the sale!
I quitted playing music so i'm not intrested in a trade, excuse me.
...
5.
I have also been playing with very dead Slinkys and have some Elixirs on the way, so at least my bad out of time slapping will have a better tone I guess.
I think Slinkys sound the best on a 'Ray, but then I'm a big fan of the strings anyway. I've currently got some cheap as chips Dean Markleys on mine, the price is reflected in the life of them though.
6. I've got very small hands so isn't a problem. I've now just discovered the strings need replacing on mine!
7. This has just arrived in the post. I'm really liking it! Seem to be the only one on here at least who does lol.
8. I've owned US & Mexican Fenders, a Chinese Warwick Rockbass, German Warwicks, a Japanese Sadowsky & others. Within their respective price brackets the quality has been excellent. It's not down to specifically the country it's made in. Eg if Sadowsky was to transfer production of the Metro series from Japan to China & the quality was to drop significantly it wouldn't be because the workers happen to be Chinese instead of Japanese. Though I'm not saying anyone one here seems to hold this view, I know people off basschat who do though!
9. As said why pay £1300 for a new Korean made Warwick when you can buy a used German one for so cheap right now.
10. Chay bought my Boss ME50b pedal. Nice guy, easy transaction & no messing about! Cheers
11. £40 valuation fee in this case plus a few other little bits & bobs such as the insertion fee. Paypal will be where you take the brunt of it though.
12.
Have you still got this bass? one of my students may be interested! What is the Ebay URL? Cheers Andy
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190571004382?ssP...9#ht_550wt_1141
13. Would probably help for me to mention this is 9v & is for active pickups!
14. Whatever you're planning to play just practice, practice, practice! Try to relax a bit before the audition. Also I'd wanna go for a pint or some thing with them after to get to know them better.
15. Wish I'd done a shift swap & gone after having previewed the album! What do you mean about Flea's hands?
16. Bump This is of no use to me at all, surely someone would want it? Make me an offer!
17.
My comments were not aimed at you!
I know Clarky! & I agree
18. I was only commenting on Warwick's new price. If it's £5k new then £2650 used seems reasonable.
19.
Depends, but 5k£ for a signature is a crazy price! The 2000's jack bruce signature was sold NEW at 2000E, the very rare jb signature is the old 90 fretless, but if you don't buy a Warwick CS new, more than 2500E for a Warwick it's a rapine... ps.(in the 1988, the Thumbs where sell for about 2000 euro, just for information)
Warwick have certainly jacked their prices for this sig model then!
20.
Warwickhunt, it's call "magic" xD ... I think that a correct price for this bass are about 1500-1600 euro, consider that a pre 90 thumb it's easy to find at 1200 euro
It retails at over £5k though?
21.
As in the difference between having the VTC all the way on compared to all the way off? That'd seriously suck. I'm imagined it was more like the tone control of the Fender's?
Well yeah suppose so, as in achieving that darker, more vintage sound that presumably you'd fit it for. Obviously I'm only going on what I've read etc & have not tried it out. It just ultimately didn't seem worth it to me having looked in to it. Also with boost controls at zero I find I can get a more passive kind of sound out of my Sadowsky anyway.
22.
I can't get a preview to work
Well I've now managed to get the preview to work on Itunes after trying a different machine... & I've gotta say I like it! It's far from their best stuff, but I think it would be unfair to expect a band that's been as far as them to hit some thing close to their peak now. Every one of their albums is different from the previous, this in my opinion is just a continuation. You can still tell it's them, & the guitar isn't as different from Frusciante's style as much as I was expecting it to be. Sure there are a couple of howlers, & I still don't like that damn single! But I think I will pick this one up from Tesco a bit later. I do wonder though if my extremely low expectations for this album play in to it at all. Maybe I'll have a few more listens to the previews first!
