1. I'm not sure I'd pay all that, I go with an earlier poster who suggests you could get a luthier to do an amazing job with fender or mighty mite parts for a lot less
2. Sounds like long term trouble whatever happens, I'd walk
3.
WOW!! Cool! Where did you get it done? I must get mine done. I'm sure my MD will be SOOOOOOOoooooo impressed when she see's this done to my company car.
Won't be valid, you didn't drive it for 39 years and leave it outside in all weathers

5.
Ooops.Wasn't trying to be rude or disrespectful, just expressing an opinion and not trying to stir the pot like some people do.The last three words of my earlier post say it all-"different strokes.....whatever....",you do your thing,I do mine and we might not understand each other and that's OK.I'm a bit weird by some standards since I own and gig with a Yamaha RBX750A(anybody out there have one?) and a Yamaha SLB200 EUB and play through a Laney amp which is a rare thing here in Canada.Probably lots of people wouldn't get that either...and that's OK.Apologies to any one I have offended,I'll be more careful in the future.
You didn't offend me, it wasn't what I wanted to see in the thread I started, but you're entitled to an opinion
6.
I have both, and often do the darth Vader thing, looking at one then the other , back and forth trying to decide which side to take.
You should say to them that you find their lack of faith in your ability disturbing before picking one up by its neck
7.
Ha, yes was going to add parcel force offer a relicing service
I have experienced this, they managed to make a total mess of a ProseBass including punching a neat hole right through the wooden nut. Not their fault of course.
8.
Just use it every day for 30 years, that'll do the job....
Sadly I have less than 30 useful years left and since I have a disabled partner and small children, I am unable to relic it myself. Its my bass, my money and my duty to play it, so I really don't see why I shouldn't do what I want.
9.
I'll keep an eye on this thread then
You don't need to, I'll let you know. I've asked for it to resemble stings p51 for batteredness and dull paint
10.
Could I ask who it is doing it? Norwich is only about 20 miles from me and there's a bit of relic work I may be considering in future.
You can if it turns out well
11. Ha ha mr cynic He told me the nitro has to harden before it can be checked Anyway he said at least a week underground
12. Chap down in Norwich - asked for dull nitro 3t sunburst with lots of mojo and checking. Results will be uploaded for your viewing (dis)pleasure (delete as appropriate) He reckons a month or so
13. I had an ephiphany with precision and fold my jazz to buy one. Every so often I think it might be needed ve to have a jazz as "they are so much more versatile" then I realise I don't need one really
14. Its 45mm wide I think its input switched but would imagine batt check would work without Tricky part is that battery is separate and last owner fitted a batt box. Trend now is for built in batteries Wonder if anyone has a scrap apc pro ?
15. Anyone help? Don't want to buy another and then it worked perfectly all along
16.
I'll go against the tide and say: do it. But do it well, with a neat route. Having the bridge pickup makes a Precision a much more versatile instrument. I'd consider a double J humbucker rather than a single J. In my opinion it balances better withe the P pickup. Or even an MM style pickup.
Having done it myself I agree totally
17. I think the irony and relic job make it the gold standard for metal
18. Chopped up mouse mat is pretty close to the original material, I heard
19. To be honest i was a bit late for prog and whilst I'm sure it's technically very accomplished it really does leave me cold
20. Well it was indeed an experience - I thought the options quite limited - no choice over bindings, limited tort, no natural finish options
21. The bass doc wasn't sure, I asked exactly this question when he was building it He said, and I think he is right, having chipped some off, that's it's poly but it's very thin as poly goes. It's way thinner than the mex fenders I've seen
22. I have a bass with exactly this same body from the bass doc and I can confirm that they are high quality, nice wood but also light - I recognise the sunburst pattern
23. You can order the same thing much cheaper through aliexpress. I was going to get a Steinberger copy and do a relic sunburst on it just for irony
24. Yes they come up on eBay and here quite frequently I had an ibanez sr595 and I just didn't get on with it
