1. Lovely to play - pencil-slender neck
2.
Yeah it's wonderful but I'm considering a Noble pre amp - have my whole rig on my pedal board type set up Thanks for the comment
What a coincidence - despite my recognition that I really prefer SS, I too have been thinking very seriously about a Noble to use with Fender style basses! I'll let you know if I pull the trigger (and the Agi 680 really is a tremendous pre in every way!)
3. I had one of these before I moved to Millennia - the DB680 is a staggering pre - beautiful if you're looking for valve tones (it took me a long time to realise that I wasn't!)
4. Brilliant - thanks very much for the details - just love Lakland necks and very cool that they've accommodated 35 in a compact package. Tempting - can't see this lasting long - superb quality throughout
5. Any further specs on this - nut width and neck dimensions etc? A lovely looking bass!
6. An intriguing bass - do you have further details or information (age, timbers, finish, dimensions, weight, condition etc.)?
7. I've played a Gibson Ripper for much of the past 35 years - inspired by Patrick Djivas of PFM (currently in the UK for two nights after a break of nearly 40 years). Have a listen to Chocolate Kings for a bit of Ripper clank. Djivas was reckoned by Pastorius to be the world's second best player too
8. That is really lovely - even in a flattened market, I'd be surprised to see this hang around for long
9. SOLD pending payment - An almost new set of TI flats - 9 weeks old but with just four or five hours of play. Cut for a Fender P or J. Silks in generally good condition but some minimal fray/wear at contact points. Shipped in the UK for £20
10. If you get a chance, audition an AER Amp One - an extraordinary unit. 200 watts and a 1x10 but the performance is genuinely staggering. I've seen a lot of players just bewildered at what comes out of an unassuming and compact (but heavy) little box. There's a lot of DSP and filtering going on but it's not just the power - the tone is something to behold (pure and transparent and very capable of an old school vibe if necessary). The compressor is excellent too. They come up on here for around £650 to £700 (but fairly occasionally)
11. I quite like SDs but I'd recommend Lindy Fralins - my favourites by far
12. How lovely, I suspect that this will move with reasonable ease... Is the case candy all present and correct?
13. This is a rig of exceptional beauty - I'm amazed it's still here. Possibly the biggest bargain on BC just now. Maybe advertise on a guitar-oriented board? The amp is fantastic for guitar
14. these are incredibly simple and straightforward - no noticeable latency and no negative impact on tone. Gigged one last week and was very impressed
15. Just wow! That top is amazing. Have to wonder where Alembic get it from (though one does pay for it!)
16. Love Chris' work and the colour on this is wonderful!
17. Wow, really don't see many of these around - looks to be in fantastic condition too. Where are you based? Most of these seem to be in the north west
18. I've owned a good number of Celinders - beautiful instruments all - £2k is a very good price IMO (especially in the current climate!)
19. Thanks both for your help - I don't think the problem is connected with the original re-fin as it didn't arise until recently - the bass was fine for about 30 years. There could be a connection with the re-foam - maybe the new foam is having a reaction? I'm not sure about this as the bloom occurs with the bass in a different case, Also, there doesn't appeR to be damage to the finish - the bass still has a vibrant shine when the bloom is washed away (though I'm not keen on using hot soapy water to clean a bass!) I think I'll clean it this week then leave it out of a case to check if the bloom appears. If it's some form of component gassing, the air circulation should prevent or reduce blooming. It's a bit of an odd issue - a shame too, the finish is really lovely! Thanks again, much appreciated and further ideas welcome!
