  1. Don't usually go into a CD store in town, or nearest city, since there are usually none! A few small indy shops come and go. I did call in HMV on a rare town visit back in the summer and found Chris Squire's Fish out of water in the rack. Seemed to have a good a-z selection of rock/pop and another for metal. Last week got Parachute, The Pretty Things and today their S F Sorrow, both in the rack. (Can't find new stuff that I like anywhere!). I wished the guy behind the counter all the best. I hope it survives. Would help if more avoided Amazon and their non-payment of tax business model.
  2. I had a ripoff 1/4 inch mono tape copy. No money for the vinyl back them. Threw it out eventually. However nice to hear it for the first time with cans on.
  3. Not sure what they are. Colours as stated. No silks. If you PM me an address I'll post out 2nd class, I'll leave it to you to put the equivalent postage in a charity box. (the Karma system!)
  4. I thought I read somewhere they were Elixers , but the balls are red, black blue gold so maybe D'Addario. Just been NBD'd with a SR500 - these round came off the same day for TI flats. These are still 'sticky' so need a bit more playing in. Interesting comment on their website about the Bartolini Mk1 "Like traditional single coil but without the hum". They are actually P type pickups under that cover, but reversed compared to a P - treble side nearer the neck. I think I preferred the P/J pickups on the cheaper SR200, which this replaced, but I'm still fiddling with the pots. The price drop of the SR200 was one reason I upgraded songofthewind - if you need a spare set of rounds, you can have the ones I took off, never been played. They will go back on if you don't twist them. Nice slots in the bridge unlike BBOTs.
  5. Active bass powered by a Flux Capacitor.
  6. This is probably driven by the price of rare earth elements used in magnets. Mostly these come from China, I believe. As well as trumps trade wars, a big change in cost is the high demand for electric vehicles. Rare earth rices has gone up a lot in last 2 years, even before trump. Stuff like neodymium is essential in speakers, but we'll have to settle for that vintage Alnico sound!
  7. Is it a Pete Townshend windmill bass?
  8. There is a thread on here somewhere about these. I have one. Some of the thread detailed re-wiring the neck pickup (series to parallel) to get rid of some of the mud on the two pickup version (mud + J), a useful mod. I had a single pup version for 3 days, when Thomann sent the wrong one! It was B stock, I got the replacement from a UK dealer. I also re-wired the mult-way pickup switch, adding another volume knob, one for each pup. Weight about half a kilo more than a P. Pity they went, not too many 32s about. Don't get on with 30s, just can't get strings that I like.
  9. Same result here. A PSA test did not turn up any odd socks either. Smart people only buy black socks.
  10. There is no other logical explanation as to why I lose socks. Thanks.
  11. Only just watched the video. As I suspected, he's fitted it with Rotarysound rounds. Tom Waits could use this bass.
  12. Does it lose socks? I hate odd socks.
  13. You'll need to stay close by. Last time I tried this it was literally 1-3 minutes to sell out.
  14. Barmaid wardrobe malfunction.
  15. ̶S̶ LOW HAND fixed it.
  16. If you don't do Apple (I don't) the Arturia Mini V at 149 Euro is pretty good. There is also a modular Moog, with awesome patch cable graphics. https://www.arturia.com/products/analog-classics/mini-v/overview https://www.arturia.com/products/analog-classics/modular-v/overview Loads of other synths also.
  17. You probably have this in mind.
  18. Is this any cop? http://www.tolvan.com/index.php?page=/basta/basta.php
  19. You really do need OGWT
  20. It's been like that for around 3 weeks at least. 5-10 or so up daily.
  21. Managed to get a cheap 'strat' copy for £27 on my third attempt, using an app which told me when the website updated. Reckon each time I placed the order under 2 minutes from the update. So selling out very quick. I remember the old days when my electro acoustic 5 string and 4 string HB Deko were up there for at least 2 days (maybe they had millions?) So many apps/alerts must be in use now. I now have all I need from the HB stable. Sold the electro last year, as a Deko, for what I paid for it, with warts declared. Wow, these Deko's hold their value. Sincerely 'turd'
  22. The release date (on G4M) for this has moved from March, to April then to 9-16th June. Price is up from 299 to 315, though some still have it listed as 299. A user manual is here: https://media.music-group.com/media/PLM/data/docs/P0CQJ/MODEL D_M_EN.pdf
  23. 2013 MIM P 8 3/4lbs (with slightly heavier Hipshot tuners fitted)
  24. +1 I have a 2013, purchased that year. Arctic white, amazing rosewood neck.
  25. I heard that was done to stop the pickup arm jumping out of the vinyl groove. Can't think why, pickup arm tracking weights must have been measured in kilograms back when!
