1. Hi What's the weight of this bass, please? Cheers
2. Hi What's the weight of your bass, please?
3. I'm rather liking the following at the moment: Tom Waits - Soldier's Things - https://www.youtube....h?v=rNwC8ETa0pg Didn't realise it was featured in Peaky Blinders. Upright bass serves the song. Scott Walker - The Old Man's Back Again (Dedicated to the Neo-Stalinist Regime - https://www.youtube....h?v=N-zgdGQB4S4 Wow! Isthis Herbie Flowers? Sounds like tracks on Melody Nelson https://www.youtube....h?v=a3C4AVbqyY8 Kate Bush - Mother Stands for Comfort - https://www.youtube....h?v=xRnT9_eSVYM Eberhard Weber. Rather sublime. John Martyn - Some People are Crazy - https://www.youtube....h?v=wan46Vcbqow John Giblin. More fretless.
4. Hi Tonci How much does this weigh, please?
5. Started when I was 39. Played my first show a couple of months later (School musical) the day after my 40th birthday. It was Madness' 'Our House'. Two or three shows in one of Madnesss (Chrisy Boy) came to see it! We had a brief chat about playing the bass - which was very brief as he's the guitarist!
6. What's the weight of this lovely bass, please?
7. Popped into Andertons today. Fantastic service from the staff (and Lee) as usual. Even though it was very busy they were all very happy to help and chat and let me try as many basses that I wanted. Left wanting to come back.
8. +1 for Madness. Roped into doing the 'Our House' Musical in a school production. Third time I ever played in front of an audience Chris Foreman (Chrissy Boy) was in to see what the school version was like. Terrified. He was lovely afterwards when I asked him how the bass was. He said I played better than he did. Then he added he was the guitarist.
9.
Squier VM P-Bass fretless (I think it's called like that). Great tone and a cool alternative to a J bass sound. Mine is super light too which is a bonus.
+1 +1 to super light, too. In fact, both my Matt Freema and VM Fretless are faultless in their build and sound and play fantastically.
10.
Beauty in bass aesthetics is in the eye of the beholder as with everything... Personally I think a P bass looks fine but I find PJ setups a bit jarring on the eye
+1
11. I keep looking at other p-basses - MIM, USA, etc. but I can't find anything that feels as comfortable and as well made as my Matt Freeman Squier. Bought a VM Fretless P Bass. The quality control is as good. Really impressed.
12. Mister RLP

SOLD

My favourite bassist. Lucky enough to see him play for Kate Bush, too.
13. Update: Bowie Concert tomorrow. Songs involved in are now: Suffragette City, Moonage Daydream, Lazarus and Valentine's Day. For some reason learnt the baseline for Golden Year over the weekend. Rather neat.
14. Adam Ant in May. He was so good last year going to see him again. Possibly Martin Turner ex Wishbone Ash in April if there are still tickets.
15.
That's a great VID comparison. I could clearly hear the diferences in basses and personal fav was the MIJ on the isolated track but when it came to the full band sound the Larkin seemed to be very slightly clearer but they all sounded pretty much the same and so difficult to tell between them. IMHO that is.
Totally agree with the MIJ being great on the isolated track. However, I think I preferred the Fender '73 on the full band sound. But as Dave noted they all sound similar.
16.
No-one else in my Bowie covers band seems to believe me when I tell them what hard work that line is! I've tried and given up learning it a few times now and they still insist I could do it standing on my head.
Glad it's not just me then.
17. I keep coming back to the Chromes. Have tried TIs and Rotosound. Would like to try some Labellas.
18. I rather liked Tin Machine, too. Even had a t shirt that said that albeit in a bit ruder way. Highest: Low (ha!) Lowest: Never Let Me Down (see what I did there?)
