[/font][/color][/quote] Not sealed but seem stuck in quite firmly. The Entwistles when they arrived yesterday had one cover off and the other cover was easy to prise away. Seemed they were glued in place. Is this what I should do - use glue - or just place the covers over the pickups? Don't really want to go down the replacing the whole pick guard route if I can help it - although did this with the Ric I used to own. So I have picked up some Entwistle pickups for my Matt Freeman p-bass and as stated earlier the pickup covers have long ears and won't fit. I need to get different pickup covers. Finding it hard to see which ones might work. I started playing with my thumb (not slapping), moved to fingers (but prefer using one as sound more consistent) and have moved over to pick playing which gives me more control over tone, etc. However, I will use whatever style is best for the song that is being played. It's good to hear lots of pro bass players saying that they play with thumbs (Sting), one finger (Sean Hurley?) or picks (Bobby Vega). Anything goes.

And I got it online. All the basses I tried before I bought them I sold.

I had no idea who Matt Freeman/Rancid were. I got the bass as it was the best in the price range. As a back up. Now it is my only bass.

I have a bit of gas for a USA precision but there is very little to fault with my Matt Freeman. Excellent build. Good weight. Plays well. It's a keeper.

One of the basses in the music room at my school has mixed rounds and flats. Just what was available! Didn't McCartney use piano strings when in Hamburg?

I now feel rather positive about the mock exams that I've got to mark before I go back...

Interesting! All sound like P-basses but first two with rounds on and the last with flats. Sounds not too disimilar to my Matt Freeman with flats on. I think I liked the sound of no.2 best. Possibly.

I really want to like rounds but they don't sound like me. Chromes sound fairly bright.I've put the same set on about five times now. Quite like EB rounds and those coated ones. But always happier with Chromes.

I keep putting rounds on then going back to flats.

Did you have any trouble putting them in? Are they an exact fit?

Would the Entwistle PBXNs sound good in the Matt Freeman P Bass? Would they make the sound even better?

Matt Freeman bass has a glossy neck. Not a problem. Really like it.

They had a Flea Jazz in on Saturday which I only clocked on my way out. Probably gone now.

Sold the Rick 4001. Sold the MIM Jazz. Kept the Matt Freeman Squire P-Bass. Only bought it as a back up...

The Dreaming, Hounds of Love and Sensual World for me. I can see a clear progression there. Very lucky to see Before the Dawn two years ago. Didn't get a ticket when they first came out and then forgot about it. Then a documentary was on the BBC which made me desperate to get a ticket. I kept trying on the official website and was lucky to get a ticket on the day of one show. Amazing. And great to see/hear John Giblin one of my favourite bassists.
