1. I had no idea who Matt Freeman/Rancid were. I got the bass as it was the best in the price range. As a back up. Now it is my only bass.
2. I have a bit of gas for a USA precision but there is very little to fault with my Matt Freeman. Excellent build. Good weight. Plays well. It's a keeper.
3. Ok. That's useful to know. Thanks for the tip off.
4. Thanks for the advice re pick ups. Have ordered some Entwistle PBXNs for my Matt Freeman bass. For bass pickup covers would these be a good fit?
5. One of the basses in the music room at my school has mixed rounds and flats. Just what was available! Didn't McCartney use piano strings when in Hamburg?
6. I now feel rather positive about the mock exams that I've got to mark before I go back...
7. Interesting! All sound like P-basses but first two with rounds on and the last with flats. Sounds not too disimilar to my Matt Freeman with flats on. I think I liked the sound of no.2 best. Possibly.
8. I really want to like rounds but they don't sound like me. Chromes sound fairly bright.I've put the same set on about five times now. Quite like EB rounds and those coated ones. But always happier with Chromes.
9. I keep putting rounds on then going back to flats.
10. Did you have any trouble putting them in? Are they an exact fit?
11. Would the Entwistle PBXNs sound good in the Matt Freeman P Bass? Would they make the sound even better?
12. + 1 for Blackstar. The new Madness album is rather good too.
13. Matt Freeman bass has a glossy neck. Not a problem. Really like it.
14. They had a Flea Jazz in on Saturday which I only clocked on my way out. Probably gone now.
15. Selling my TC Electronic BH 250 amp head as I’m not using it enough and need to fund a trip abroad. It is fantastic, lightweight and comes with access to TC Electronic’s extensive toneprint library. Like the Barefaced cab I advertised yesterday, it has been used very lightly for one musical, one gig and a small number of rehearsals. It is pretty much in the condition I bought it in. It comes in its original box with the manual, power cable, mini jack to mini jack cable and USB cable. See http://www.tcelectronic.com/bh250/ Postage via courier within the UK included in price. Happy for collection, too. Pics to follow.
16. Evening. Selling my Barefaced One Ten. Bought this year and collected from the workshop in Brighton but I’m not using it enough and need to fund a trip abroad. It is fantastic, lightweight and sounds out of this world. I went for the silver cloth grill option (which was a £30 extra upgrade). It has been used very lightly for one musical, one gig and a small number of rehearsals. It is in the condition I bought it in. Pictures to follow as it’s at school. See http://barefacedbass...range/one10.htm for full details.
17. Sold the Rick 4001. Sold the MIM Jazz. Kept the Matt Freeman Squire P-Bass. Only bought it as a back up...
18. The Dreaming, Hounds of Love and Sensual World for me. I can see a clear progression there. Very lucky to see Before the Dawn two years ago. Didn't get a ticket when they first came out and then forgot about it. Then a documentary was on the BBC which made me desperate to get a ticket. I kept trying on the official website and was lucky to get a ticket on the day of one show. Amazing. And great to see/hear John Giblin one of my favourite bassists.
19. He made his show at the O2 seem like an intimate gig. You felt like you were in a small room with him. An amazing presence.
20. Nice bass. How much does it weigh and where are you based?
