1. f***ing great mate! I like Busy Like Signal too. Love the singer's voice and the lyrics. Great feel, great sounds, lovely. Consider me a fan.
 2.
More here: http://basschat.co.u...ost__p__1603695
Seriously mate, I just absolutely split up laughing. Thank you very much
 3.
Sounds like a decent track to me! Slightly reminiscent of the Foo Fighters perhaps? Could possibly do with a bit more "light and shade" though? Dymanic range is a bit "compressed" too - which seems commonplace these days. For a long track it comes across as a bit relentless to me... but that's after only two listens. Certainly better than their (for me) low point of Vapor Trails. Snakes and Arrows is OK, but they are a long way off their creative zenith of the late 80s and early 90s IMO. Some tasty playing from wor Ged there Can't wait for this album - pre-ordered it on Amazon yesterday
I agree, any enjoyment was generally lost from the relentless pummelling my ears got.
 4.
I kitted out my sunburst Squier P in those lovely shiney covers recently to get that oldey authenticky looke. Gigged it on Saturday, what a disaster! I was all over the place! Nowhere to put me thumb, I was well out of my comfort zone Do any of you guys play with these on? I may give it another crack, but keep yer eyes on the for sale section.
Did you put them on to match the garden?
 5. Look nice but are total sh*t to play with. Horrible.
 6.
Why not. All being well, should make it
Excellent!
 7. I enjoyed it too! The band has a really nice vibe and you and your drummer are REAAAALLY good! Loving the Welsh accent, really nostalgic for me and takes me back to the early '80s when I lived in Wales and was on the bill with a great band called Chalky White and the Shamrastas Really nice mate, any chance of a vid for one of your Welsh language numbers?
 8. I prefer a rich piano-like tone with a lot of warm low mids. Not fully found it yet, but used to like DR Black Beauties (until I had a run of dead or dying Gs), and switched to Warwick Black Labels. Always 105-45. I just this minute ordered a set of Warwick EMP 100-40. I think I might like the lighter gauge and going back to coated.
 9.
I'd put it towards recording a really good album in an excellent studio with a great producer.
Plus everything. Unless you're a bedroom bubinga botherer.
 10.
Thanks for the kind words and criticism! I don't really know how you can think the little tap has no musical reason for existing.. it's part of the melody! Thanks all the same though.
Firstly, many congratulations! A well deserved win! Regarding the little tap thing, it totally jarred me. The speed at which you need to execute it means you had no chance of putting any expression into it at all. As I listened, I was wishing you would slide the note up and release, or leave a space where the note was. Anything other than that dead little note that felt like someone sharply flicking one's nose. Anyway, you play superbly, so don't worry about little criticisms like this.
 11.
Be great to see you there!
Definitely coming, hopefully with Thunderbird 13. Anyone else up for it?
 12.
Update: despite having had faulty Markbass amp back in their hands for two weeks and emailing me on 12th April to say they would refund asap, Thomann have still not refunded me. I emailed yesterday to ask why and they said the relevant department was "under-staffed" and that they would get on the case (but with no timescale attached) On the other amp, GuitarGuitar sent me returns forms yesterday morning and by lunchtime had picke dup the faulty Phil Jones combo. So far they have acted pretty swiftly so I am hopeful that they will show the customer service that has been lacking so far from Thomann
They told me much the same thing. That someone had to inspect it before issuing the refund and they had a very large backlog, public holiday, etc etc ...
 13.
When I was exclusively a music lover, and not yet a musician, I enjoyed going to see cover bands, but I was perfectly able to notice when they weren't good - simply because in those cases the songs I knew and loved did not sound like the songs I knew and loved. It doesn't matter that I was reasonably music-savvy and could tell that the singer was out of his range and sounded nothing like Sebastian Bach, or that the guitarist's grasp of scales definitely wasn't going to cause Kirk Hammett any sleepless nights, or that it bloody well wasn't Geezer Butler playing on that version of Heaven And Hell, etc. Even if I had been without that knowledge, the songs would simply have sounded wrong. However, many people like to go to a pub where a band is playing and throw a few shapes after downing a few pints, and aren't able to tell the difference between a good and a bad performance, even when they know and love the songs they hear. And if they have a good time and come back, landlords will be happy to have them again. As many said before, it's a matter of what you want to achieve. The better bands will make progress and have a chance to leave the pub circuit for something better, while the crap bands will stay where they are. When I say 'have a chance' I don't mean they will necessarily make it, because the market is tough, but at least they'll be able to try. Having said that, there are many examples of worthless bands or individuals who go on to make it. Unfortunately that's a fact of life and it happens in all fields. I work as a technical translator - among other things - and have got used to clients not being able to tell a good translation by someone highly qualified, who knows the subject inside out, from ungrammatical offerings by someone who just happens to be Italian and speak a bit of English, and whose actual day job is being a waitress or a builder. Choosing the less good - but invariably cheaper - option will usually come back to bite the client on their behind, in due course, but in the meantime it's quite galling to be part of such an uninformed selection process and often lose out. The only thing to do is persevere, because we love what we do and we love to do it to the best of our ability. And there are still people out there, in all fields, who can tell the difference.
That's nice, I like that.
 14. Totally agree with The Greek. However, you really need to get the drummer to strip the kit right down, and maybe put cloths over the heads (drums sound great like this BTW). Breedlove acoustic basses seem to be louder than most, so maybe that's an option, but I reckon you'll need amplification anyway. How about trying an electric upright like an NS Design Bass Cello, 34 inch scale and very easy to play compared to a DB, and it will 'look' more acoustic and very cool.
 15.
HI Buddy. I was born in Tile Hill north. I live in Coundon now, close to work. I build the famous London Taxi ! Where are you from pal.
Ah, Coundon. I went to Coundon Court School. I was born in Styvechale but grew up in Allesley. I left Cov 30 years ago, I only went back twice, very shortly afterward. I never want to see the place again after what friends tell me it's like now I hope it's not as soulless as they say.
 16. Hello mate, from another Coventrian. Whereabouts in Cov are you from?
 17.
I really like this one but I haven't been brave enough to dive in without any experience of the brand.. http://www.ebay.co.u...#ht_9093wt_1021
I don't believe you!
 18. I should be able to make this!
 19.
Yes... and head and shoulders above the interminable guitar-twiddling of their peers, imho. Can't help feeling they would have been much more successful had they been called something else!
Oh god, the rest of what I saw was stultifying. Awful. But I did get strong feelings of nostagia. Every song sounded the same.
 20.
The southern R&B musicians were the least racist people below the Mason Dixon Line.
I know, I was only kidding Chris They were very good to their roadies
 21.
Bit late for me! Anyways, I think its reasonable to expect that a brand new "high end" amp would arrive at my home in working condition
Crap innit, you remember my Steinberger fiasco with Thomann? With the rude unhelpful customer service and the two B-Stocks masquerading as new? I've never used them since and never will.
 22.
No shop anywhere near me stocks Markacoustic or Phil Jones amps. I went ahead and ordered on the basis of lots of web research and the (mistaken) assumption that the QC departments of these companies do their jobs properly
I tried some PJBs in the Gallery a couple of years ago.
 23.
Practically Southern Rocked myself into a coma. Wet Willie were pretty funky, though. Seemed to be a preponderance of Les Pauls and Fender Ps, y'all... With the exception of the Allman Brothers Band, didn't feel too inspired by any of it, tbh... another time, another place.
Was Wet Willie the band with the sax-playing singer? They were interesting, quite 'black' for an area known for opposing the abolition of slavery
 24.
Yeah, that's very impressive. Well out of my budget though I'd love to have a play with one to see things like how much mic placement affects the sound etc, but since it's actually replicating the sound rather than being programmed to sound like it, I can imagine it's very accurate. Edit: Forget the bit about the mic placement, I'm thinking about it as a pre-amp. With the DI out rather than it being micd, you're replacing the mic anyway.
I costs less that what I paid for my Fender twin, Hot Plate and effects. It's about the cost of three PODs. Absolutely amazing bit of kit.
