1. The speakers aren't that much cheaper than that , so £350 for a full cab is crazy.
 2. The T Bird really won me over on another listen. I think one day I need to try one out...the new 2014 Walnut T Birds are stunning.
 3.
I thought that was just a legal requirement as part of the distance selling regulations?
Oh defintely, but music shops tend to be annoyed when you want to use it.
 4. The problem with music retail is that if isn't willing (as a whole, more so in the UK) to progress with times and understand the customer has a lot more power than the stores realise. We pay the salaries, we keep the stores going, and if we spend money, and the item isn't right, we deserve to have it put right. Think about when you spend say £300 on a designer coat on ASOS. They let you do what you want, so if it's not right for you or not as expected, you can send it back for free and get a refund. No attitude from a mardy musician.
 5. I'm afraid it will continue. It extends much further than just the instrument retail world.
 6.
That case is being shipped with Am. Deluxe JBasses, and PBasses.
There are some people receiving American Standards in this ABS case!
 7. Buy nottswarwick's NX2 in the for sale section. Much less than half the price of some of the above and superbly designed for a commercially available cab.
 8.

I am an idiot for not buying one of those Warwicks...what a lovely bass!
 9.
So Are you saying that you would choose the Markbass over the Berg?
Depends on what money you'd be prepared to spend. The Berg cabs are more refined, and Jim has golden ears in designing a bass cab sound. However, you may well prefer the NX2 or the NY212 in terms of sound/form factor/price. I don't know much about the Vanderkley...so I can't comment. In order: CN212 NX212 NY212 I'd also try the HD cabs from Berg. I would own a CN212 if I didn't pay the bargain price for a new MIA Genz NX2.
 10.
Yes I know. Overall I'm satisfied, albeit certainly not happy, with the response. The bass is absolutely superb and that is the most important thing for me so I'm going to keep it.
A superb Fender can be tough to find! Keep it Id ask the retailer or Fender UK to get you the right case or discount it....seems fair.
 11.
Thanks for all your comments, the shop has agreed to take the amp back and it will be going back in the New Year when Fender UK are back from their hols. Hopefully the next one will be in the condition that I expect a new one should be, if not I'll give up and ask for a refund !
Wise choice! It's their flagship amp...it needs to be right! I'm sure Bass Direct could do one for you if you get a refund.
 12. I would jump on a Genz NX2 212T in the for sale section. Especially if it's below £500 as it's basically on par or better than the Markbass (which I've tried and is a great cab) for much less. The Berg CN212 would then swing it for me.
 13.
I just spoke to Fender UK who have confirmed that the case my bass has come with is actually correct. I told them that they still have the SKB case listed on their web site against the model of bass I bought - he said that the web site will be updated but that they do reserve the right to change stuff without updating their web site.
It's probably what they are shipping now, but not the 'correct' case you ordered. They are due to change to the new ABS cases as I've seen some American sites selling them like that with pictures etc. As usual, in the UK we pay more and seem to get a rough deal. This one is down to you I guess. I have two American Standards in the SKB cases and it's part of why they were such a good buy. Personally I wouldn't buy one again (and I am currently looking at a new P) until the cases are sorted out. You've still got a decent case but it's not as ordered.
 14.
My new Rick 4003, had to get one!
Nice! Where did you get a new Ric from?
 15. Top chap! Great to deal with. Just sold a spare new cover and the transaction was all very quick and friendly.
 16.
They are superb. Light as a feather and incredibly protective. Superb design.
Agreed. Excellent cases.
 17. I knew this thread might surface soon. I managed to read a thread on Talkbass last week about this. Basically, Fender seem to have parted ways with SKB, (potential fall out, not sure) and they are now starting to roll out a NEW version of the 2008 onwards Amercan Standard cases. In the mean time, they are using the classic cases, as seen above. Thing is, the SKB cases really were the icing on the cake. Anyway, here is a picture of the NEW 'SKB-style' ABS cases, but I don't know who makes them: http://www.fender.com/accessories/cases/abs-molded-precision-bassjazz-bass-case-black/ They actually look really good. I am quite annoyed that Fender didn't announce this to customers, as the OP has basically just been given an older/heavier style of case without a choice! Don't get me wrong, its still a decent case, but it isn't what you paid for IMO. My thoughts? Make them send you the new ABS case. That is if the bass is right for you. If not, send back and wait until the new cases start shipping to Europe.
 18.
Yeah, I was offered that. Thing is I took the top off to have a look inside at the power socket housing and whilst doing so had a little poke around inside lol! It all works as it should albeit the things previously mentioned. Me being me I've mentioned this to the shop and am waiting for a reply whether I can still send it back! Might have shot myself in the foot but will have to wait and see tbh. If I remember correctly the one I sent back also a had a fairly loud fan so hope that's normal. End of the day I've still got a good amp and if I can't send it back I'll ask for a partial refund or other form of compensation as the experience hasn't been great, 'new' in my book should actually be new! AFAIK it's not the shop's fault, could be the distributor sending out reworked items as new, however I don't really know, either way not a good way to do business I feel.
Genz will have sent it sealed, so it was either Fender UK or the store. I've had a similar issue with an expensive pedal, and after getting the same one back twice, I've now got a refund. Like you say, it isn't fair if you spend extra to get a new item and it isn't actually new! (Eg it's ex demo).
 19. Wowzer! Wish I was closer to take a look !
 20.
... another question , anyone else think the internal fan is a bit loud? Not that it would be an issue when you're pumping out any volume I guess!
Hmm, now you've got me on that. My Shuttlemax 9.2 is very quiet, and my Streamliner 900 is more so! However, your amp does contain two 600W power amps... It sounds like you aren't that sure about it. That's totally fine...if you aren't, just send it back.
 21.
Hi Musicman20, I just read the manual after I posted the LED question lol! As far as I can tell the amp was a new replacement, however it's date of Q/C was 23/1/12, so it's nearly 2 years old! It works fine, just a bit naffed about the housing. It's not as bad as the broken one (err, obviously ) but still not too hot for a flagship amp IMHO. I do wonder about whether what we buy 'new' from stores is new, or as new, reconditioned, reworked, a warranty fix etc etc. The amp I sent back was perfect apart from the housing breaking, the 'new' one I received to day had a few circular marks on the top, a sticky mark on one corner etc, all wiped off so no real loss. It was also placed incorrectly in it's bespoke padding in the box. All a bit suspect but it could have been a 'Friday' one I suppose, mmm, What I've learnt from this is that if you're buying new then you're still taking a bit of a gamble, I think I'll just keep going for used stuff from now on to save the hassle !
I agree. It's a bargain but buying new from big stores often means you have to take the risk of display items or retuned items. I've returned things before when they've looked used. Really annoys me.
 22. The LED is definitely normal It says so in the manual. I think the housings are intentionally tight. Did you get a brand new amp this time round?
 23. I need to get my 2013 Bongo 5 HH in this thread. The Bongo is indeed a stunning bass. I am very very impressed. The pre-amp and pickups really are special.
 24. Can anyone comment on how the new ACG pickups compare with the sound of a Wal? The Wal bodyshape is just ultra cool.
