1.
I'm currently looking to get an orange ad200b all valve beast and when I tried it in the shop with their orange obc115 400w 1x15 bass cab it sounded awesome, it has an eminence kappa speaker in it (I believe) and I'm wondering whether a TKS cab (and which one) would be able to kick the same amount of huge richness and fat bottom end while retaining the surprisingly balanced sound and sparkly top end (and be a lump lighter)? I was very pleasantly surprised at how sensitive the orange cab was and at how good the slap sound was through it! Proper chuffin heavy though!!
I've heard many people praise the OBC115's sound. I have also heard people comment on its possible negatives, but these are technical negatives (which no doubt most cabs have). I have owned this cab for a fair few years now, and I still really enjoy the tone I get from it. It is exactly as you noted above. It's a warm, focused tone, with plenty of actual 'bass' but not overbearing. It is also quite musical and does have a suprising amount of detail in the top end.
 2. Hey. This is a good question! I personally have not played the CN/HD cabinets, although I have heard VERY good things about both. Apparently, despite the failry high weight of the HD212, the cab absolutely slams and is very much a one cab solution. The Aguilar DB212/112 cabs are still my favourite cabinets made for bass guitar, so far anyway. I have a new GB NX2 212T which is MUCH lighter and easier to move, but I still need to A/B it with the Aguilar DB212. A few years ago, you could pick up DB112's for £450 new (with tweeter) and the DB212 was about £700. As much as I realise costs increase, the prices recently have shot up. I imagine this might be due to Aguilar now having a distributor in the UK, instead of selling direct. Aguilar are becoming quite a big brand; I just hope they stick to what they do best! (I've noticed more and more general music stores stocking it). I have heeard reviews stating the CN212 is quite similar to the DB212 sound. I say 'similar' as it might not be the same...
 3.
Just had a look at the control diagram and apart form the fact that you get pickups 1+2 in series in what would be "all off" position it seems incredibly intuitive and versatile and not at all complex.
Indeed, it's very intuitive, however some have stated it has too many knobs and buttons!
 4. Some would say the EBMM Big Al is complex, but it is in fact just incredibly versatile! Thing is, it sounds more like a good P bass in the middle pup in passive than some P basses!
 5.
If I was looking for a P style five string (and had the money) I would go for a Mike Lull.
I love everything style wise apart from that headstock
 6. Sandberg or Fender. If you are spending big money, Sadowsky.
 7. I've been reading through threads and I can't believe this thing is so cheap!!! I'm interested in one just for a bit of fun to be honest. I've has really good use from my (still owned) Tech 21 pedals but after trying 2-3 different units of the VT Bass DI I've given up (very expensive for the problems I was having with them). I love their pedals but I fancy trying a multi fx for fun!! Views?
 8. Check out the (sometimes hard to find) Stingray HH or HS. You can get very woody P bass tones from those neck pups.
 9. Stingray, for the following reasons: Paintwork Comfort Quality Control Available options Pickup placement for comfort with playing Tone (subjective I guess!) Versatility Truss rod wheel Style
 10. The speakers aren't that much cheaper than that , so £350 for a full cab is crazy.
 11. The T Bird really won me over on another listen. I think one day I need to try one out...the new 2014 Walnut T Birds are stunning.
 12.
I thought that was just a legal requirement as part of the distance selling regulations?
Oh defintely, but music shops tend to be annoyed when you want to use it.
 13. The problem with music retail is that if isn't willing (as a whole, more so in the UK) to progress with times and understand the customer has a lot more power than the stores realise. We pay the salaries, we keep the stores going, and if we spend money, and the item isn't right, we deserve to have it put right. Think about when you spend say £300 on a designer coat on ASOS. They let you do what you want, so if it's not right for you or not as expected, you can send it back for free and get a refund. No attitude from a mardy musician.
 14. I'm afraid it will continue. It extends much further than just the instrument retail world.
 15.
That case is being shipped with Am. Deluxe JBasses, and PBasses.
There are some people receiving American Standards in this ABS case!
 16. Buy nottswarwick's NX2 in the for sale section. Much less than half the price of some of the above and superbly designed for a commercially available cab.
 17.

I am an idiot for not buying one of those Warwicks...what a lovely bass!
 18.
So Are you saying that you would choose the Markbass over the Berg?
Depends on what money you'd be prepared to spend. The Berg cabs are more refined, and Jim has golden ears in designing a bass cab sound. However, you may well prefer the NX2 or the NY212 in terms of sound/form factor/price. I don't know much about the Vanderkley...so I can't comment. In order: CN212 NX212 NY212 I'd also try the HD cabs from Berg. I would own a CN212 if I didn't pay the bargain price for a new MIA Genz NX2.
 19.
Yes I know. Overall I'm satisfied, albeit certainly not happy, with the response. The bass is absolutely superb and that is the most important thing for me so I'm going to keep it.
A superb Fender can be tough to find! Keep it Id ask the retailer or Fender UK to get you the right case or discount it....seems fair.
 20.
Thanks for all your comments, the shop has agreed to take the amp back and it will be going back in the New Year when Fender UK are back from their hols. Hopefully the next one will be in the condition that I expect a new one should be, if not I'll give up and ask for a refund !
Wise choice! It's their flagship amp...it needs to be right! I'm sure Bass Direct could do one for you if you get a refund.
 21. I would jump on a Genz NX2 212T in the for sale section. Especially if it's below £500 as it's basically on par or better than the Markbass (which I've tried and is a great cab) for much less. The Berg CN212 would then swing it for me.
 22.
I just spoke to Fender UK who have confirmed that the case my bass has come with is actually correct. I told them that they still have the SKB case listed on their web site against the model of bass I bought - he said that the web site will be updated but that they do reserve the right to change stuff without updating their web site.
It's probably what they are shipping now, but not the 'correct' case you ordered. They are due to change to the new ABS cases as I've seen some American sites selling them like that with pictures etc. As usual, in the UK we pay more and seem to get a rough deal. This one is down to you I guess. I have two American Standards in the SKB cases and it's part of why they were such a good buy. Personally I wouldn't buy one again (and I am currently looking at a new P) until the cases are sorted out. You've still got a decent case but it's not as ordered.
 23.
My new Rick 4003, had to get one!
Nice! Where did you get a new Ric from?
 24. Top chap! Great to deal with. Just sold a spare new cover and the transaction was all very quick and friendly.
 25.
They are superb. Light as a feather and incredibly protective. Superb design.
Agreed. Excellent cases.
