What do you think of them JapanAxe? Can mm20 really be the only person on bass chat that has one? I need to rectify that
Gary at Promenade Music has great prices on EBMMs!

4 hours is way too long for one band...especially when it comes to the modern party/clubbing culture. The longest gig I've seen was Pearl Jam. 2 and s half hours ish. You lose a lot of the punters at 10/11 when they move on. 4 hours is a lot of music! Well done

Mine is still a favourite in my collection!

I can honestly say that Gary has given the best service I've ever had. Trustworthy, polite and good prices.

Returning a bass to Thomann - cost?
Musicman20 replied to uncle psychosis's topic in General Discussion
Sorry! I probably didn't post very well! I just want to order one guitar when they are in, and maybe go from there -
I've never met a musician who does it purely as a living. I imagine there are plenty who do...but it doesn't seem a very safe way to ensure a living. Purely my opinion. I personally could not do it full time. It's fun, but writing and playing your own music is the reason I started.

Returning a bass to Thomann - cost?
Musicman20 replied to uncle psychosis's topic in General Discussion
I've seen a few bits on Thomann I'd like to try. Not expensive, and more guitar related, but has anyone had issues returning items? Cheers -
I don't buy into the 'longer scale makes a B better'. It doesn't. See Sadowsky and Musicman. I've played a few 35" scale basses and found the B to be fairly loose feeling.
I don't tend to rely on pickup configurations or settings, it's all in the fingers, it really is. With double bass having a massive come back a lot of innovation has gone into electric upright, most people still want a full size DB though.
It is, but it's fun to have lots of things to play with. Then its nice to gig a Classic Ray 5 and just used pick/fingers/mutes and get all sorts of tones. Too many pickup settings can be tiring though. I tend to think it has more effect on an electric guitar, hence the Gamechanger seems to have been more popular with them (much more noticable in the mix).
think ill save over the next couple months and get one, then i can move on my ampeg pf800
Could you just use the power section of a micro amp?

Earlier on I got a great sound with a Dual Terror which has ONE tone knob per channel, and an Epiphone Casino (IBJL)....just by using the gain. I agree, guitar sounds more pleasing 'easier' in a solo setting, plus volume on the guitar and gain on the amp are fun to play with.
are definitely reasons to call the shop.
I agree a phone call would help, but a return needs to be started right now in case the store needs to claim from the courier. Not sure. OP - Email the store asap with pictures. The sooner the better. I've just had a guitar delivered this week that was even worse than the above, and I just do not know why it hasn't been checked by the manufacturer/supplier/store. Simply sending it to a customer is just going to cost everyone more money/time.

Nah, that doesn't look right. The gap isn't too bad...even I could live with that, but it looks like there is rough paint or damage near where the neck sits. So, that is one problem...the gap doesn't help though. The input jack - that would be enough for me to send it back. That looks like they installed it too tightly or its had a rough journey. Unfortunately, I've seen this kind of QC from many instrument manufacturers. It's not like you buy a new LED TV or PS4 and it comes with badly fitted parts is it?! Strange that, considering how many are probably made. When did you get it and where did you get it from?
Musicman made "the game changer" it mostly got slagged off on here, it matches your needs quite closely and better still you can save pre set settings too. To many knobs for me I'll stick with the single switch on my stingrays thanks.
Ay, the Gamechange HH has countless options and a lot of them get you into Ric/Jazz and P sounds. That, with the Musicman sounds, and loads of others, 4 band EQ or passive with passive tone control....great bass. I had one and I wanted it in a 5er, which they don't do. The bass was incredibly fun to play.
No because there are far better bass guitars out there for the same money
Even though I still think you have to make sure you get a 'good one', the recent 2008 - and 2012 - American Standards are the best Fender's I've ever played. I think £1000-1100 nowadays is fair especially if you find the right one. There aren't many basses you can buy new with a guarantee that aren't outsourced for that price now. Stingray basses are approaching £1400 for a normal 3EQ single H...or more!

I've got a Dual Terror and its extremely loud through the right cabinet. I'm using a closed back Orange 2x12 and its very 'projected' and tight. I've been very impressed with the Terror amps...I think you can get a fair whack of cleans from the Dual, but with the Orange flavour. I'm now seeking out a more chimey combo to have as a 2nd rig, more than likely a Vox AC30. I doubt I'd ever need more than 30 watts.

Bass with just a jazz bridge p/up - does it exist?
Musicman20 replied to electric nate's topic in Bass Guitars
I've seen Sandberg 4 string basses for £1200 or less. That is for the P/M of J/M design with all sorts of active EQ and passive tone control, etc. As they already seem to have made these basses before, I bet its no more than £1200 for a nice gloss finish, 4 string, vol/one single coil bass. They sell the VS (a simple Sandberg P bass) for quite cheap...I think they can be bought for about £800-900!. Go on....give Synergy Distribution a quick email! Alan is great. -

If you want to properly try it, just use Thomann's returm service if you don't like it. -

Musicman20 replied to electric nate's topic in Bass Guitars
Sandberg will make virtually anything I think, and it won't be silly money, especially if you go through them direct or through Alan at Synergy, -
It's finished! Just waiting for delivery now :-)
Ok...that is a stunner.

A guitarist I worked with a while ago used to use a very low wattage Marshall and bring his favourite guitar (this changed daily) but it meant it was just him, a nice small loud tube amp that loved to be cranked, and a decent Fender/Gretsch.

Sandberg made a few I think, and still will.
