1.
Thanks for the Amazon tip, just bought one, £23.97 free delivery !! John
Always good to check Amazon for effects pedals etc. These are £35 from usual music shop retailers.
2. I'm still considering one but I want a Fender Jag guitar. Decisions!!!
3. I've noticed it more with effects pedals. I tried some expensive compressors. Which one worked for me? Boss LMB-3. Effects pedals are so fun, and I own more expensive pedals, but it's always great to get a good EHX pedal for like £60 and it be a better tone, despite the fact it might not be quite as well built or handmade. I don't really need super high end amps. The normal bass brands plus those that aren't super pricey like Genz serve me well.
4. I play more guitar nowadays, and the Mrs just got back into bass playing with a nice Gibson SG short scale bass. She wants a new tuner so I've suggested this and said I'd put cash in so I can borrow it. Turns out it's only £25 on Amazon!!!!
5.
Has there be an announcement by now who the dealers are going to be in the UK?
Bassdirect I believe.
6. How much?!?! The 50 is gig worthy but that is a lot of money.
7. Orange Terror Bass from Thomann.
8.
Stop posting. I really miss mine (apart from the hot DI) and I'm skint.
They even fixed the DI.
9. I quite like tweaking but this is overkill for me. Seems to only really make sense if you have Berg cabs.
10. I've just got one and I like it. Read the manual for info re clean boost/overdrive. Love how EHX make age pedals for £40-100!
11. I can usually use TC Electronic RS210 x 1 for rehearsing with bands. I've just signed up to two bands from a hiatus of mainly playing learning and playing guitar, but back into bass full swing soon. As I've got a VW Beetle a 1x10 that can handle a rehearsal would make my life easier! I've used Ampeg 1x15 combos before for rehearsals (at the room) with a 3-4 piece band and had no probs. These bands won't be any louder.
12. As great as I want it to be, I can't help but thinking it's a bit boring and it has already been done (apart from 2 ohms but I'd never need it). Not sure why they wanted a voicing pot that just adds a mid scoop?!
13. How would this stand up to a 3-4 person band practice?

Just picked up an EHX Small Stone Nano. Very creamy, swirly, and warm. Lovely!
16. Jees, for £80 this little Roland is brilliant. Even the modelled higher gain guitar amps sound good. What a wonderful era of technology we live in. Old 1-15 W solid state amps used to be absolutely awful and weigh twice as much as you'd expect.
17. To be fair, nowt sounds like an Ampeg 8x10, especially behind you at pretty much full pelt, even with ear protection in. It might be a big old heavy design but it works.
18. OK, so the new Yamaha THR 100 HD isn't my thing, and way too loud. BUT, the THR10 is going to be revised soon apparently. As they aren't that cheap for small home practice, I decided to go ultra small/low wattage with lots of versatility: Roland Cube 10GX - works with bass, guitar and acoustic guitar. It's pretty basic but the amp is small, quiet and light. Perfect for home playing/recording, and no crazy price tag, (let's face it, I'd rather have the money invested in things that are gig worthy). £80 delivered! Arrives tomorrow (hopefully).
19. I'm keeping all my Genz gear. Genzler amplification has new cabs hitting the market soon with amps to follow. One of the Genz guys designed the new Mesa Subway. Probably won't appreciate in value but will hold decent value.
20. Wow...!
21. They may as well do another load at £199 for early adopters.
22.
Looks like the first ten have been snapped up already!
That is me out then...that was quick.
23. I don't need bass gear now, I have enough, but in terms of super light/small, that kills it. I might even just try one. I'm sure I could sell it if I didn't use it.
24.
In the USA Mesa probably sell directly to their dealers and provide support. In other countries, like the UK, there is a distributor and their dealer network all of whom have to make a profit margin and pay the cost of warehousing and distribution, local warranty support, in-country advertising and product promotion, exhibitions, etc. on top of the cost of buying and importing what is in effect a low quantity product. Bergantino seem to be different in that they sell directly to their in-country dealers.
I'd much prefer it if most manufacturers just sold direct to stores. I've barely ever seen an advantage (in my personal experience) with having a dealer. Depends if you've ever needed a lot of after sales care. When I mean discounts, I don't just mean MESA, I mean all brands. Sweet water etc often hand out 15-20% codes. We barely ever see such things over here. I've seen examples of profit margins with gear, even from dealers, and some of them are quite interesting to say the least.
