True, true... I'm one of the people who think TC got the parameters right first time, but I can see why some people might want more sparkly sizzle..
+1, im not for lots of sizzle, and the RH sounds right to me as it is, but Im a sucker for options! A tiny bit more high end might be nice for certain styles.
I should have picked up on this on the TB thread, but I can't find it... is this a modded version of the head, or a stock RH450?
Ill get some pictures up. Apparently it is the same amp, but they have sent 'test' units so we dont have to use our own. It looks like ones they use in the office for testing eg not ones they would sell at retail...

Lakland 44-75 (that's the DJ replacement) mock up
I prfer the old style myself. I don't like how the paint on the headstock finishes before the nut. It looks more like my Ray34. Maybe Lakland are using the cheaper side of the Cort factory now ;-)
Totally agree. It also hasnt got that slight boutique factor to it, (despite the fact they were made in substantial numbers). -
http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k229/kom...ewwalkabout.jpg Apparently it came out last year, so Im late to the party and this may have been discussed before. I have no idea what they have changed.
I almost understood that...
Im a computer noob; I dont really know that much about how this all works, but Im getting there. Basically, a cable goes from the back of the RH450 (the remote footswitch port) into your computer via USB. Thats it, then the program does the rest.
You got your order in for the 5 string yet Gareth lol. This complicates things a bit doesn't it?
Hahah, luckily I am definite on EB 5 strings now. It took me a while, and I had to wait to be able to test, but the EB neck and B does work for me, (THANKFULLY!). -
My software has been emailed, the amp and cable has arrived, and now I just need to find some time t have a good fiddle, especially with the high end. I know a fair few amount of players would buy this amp if it opened up at the high end (personally I like it how it is, but if you ant Markbass-type sizzle, it can be done with this software). There are a few clips up by KJung on youtube. Link to one of them here, (the rest can be found here also): http://www.youtube.com/Kjungbass Unfortunately I dont have the technology to be able to actively compare on a video like Ken has, but Im hoping at some point to basically do two different videos, and let one be the amp flat, no changes, and the other with the high end tweaked. Although Ken's example definitely works, (I suggest headphones and no background noise, with a fairly high volume).

Lakland 44-75 (that's the DJ replacement) mock up

I was wrong, but close...its the top horn as stated above. Yep, it doesnt look right. I hope and imagine they have tested for balance...we shall see. My instinct is that the original Lakland DJ is more desirable. -
So what you're saying is give it a while and there'll be another Tecamp-style glut! Oh Goodie!
Probably... I have nothing against them, but they arent bass specialists so in my eyes its a bad idea to have them being the sole stockists. Ive discussed this before with JTUK on here; usually one sole distributor leads to chaotic high pricing. I have bought a fair few bits from them before, but they dont understand the fact that some basses can be wonderful, and some can be undesirable, depending on whether the manufacturer got it right with that instrument. Therefore, they tend to refuse ordering another in. -

Lakland 44-75 (that's the DJ replacement) mock up
Musicman20 replied to EssentialTension's topic in Bass Guitars
Something about the bottom horn doesn't look right but that's probably just the mockup. Guitarguitar were not very helpful on the Lakland front, and wouldn't order in anything else. They also said the weight of the JO5 I tried was high because the wood was 'such high quality'. A retailer as a sole distributor is not a good thing usually. -

I think it's a good idea to keep this bass in their catalogue! Is this officially released or incoming? -

Tough call. It depends if you like a more modern Fender tone. The Stingray will no doubt, IMO, be more consistent from bass to bass. But if you don't like the core tone, perhaps move it on for sonething else? What about a USA Fender 75 reissue Jazz?
-
I never realised Markbass didn't have a control for the high end on the piezo? Is this true on all of their combos?!
Oh Gareth, diamonds in the rough as per usual. I found one as well... So there I was quite happy with the sound of my AV-Series Precision, nicely filling in the vintage gap in my collection & I got the chance to play one of these new Deluxe models (the Precision) with the new N3 Jazz pickup & the new preamp through a new TV series BassMan amp. Oh dear. It was utterly fantastic. Possibly the best wooden bass I've played this year. The new preamp is massive sounding with loads of punch, the playability of the new deluxe is excellent & the passive tone control is a nice bonus as well. I actually sat playing the thing for nearly an hour. Good job I was actually in the place doing some consultancy work for the dealer today! I suppose the thing that impressed me the most was the new preamp. The old one was very harsh sounding & they seem to have got the frequencies right this time. The new one sounds amazing with the treble and bass max'd with the mids flat. A Precision that slaps just as well as a Jazz. Pity it was the white one. If it was the natural one I'd have happily gone into debt for it! So, yes - As per usual if you find a nice one, you're set. These are lovely basses. So do I sell the AV62 or save my pennies? Hmmmm...
Oh don't sell the 62! Too nice I've been playing my Fenders at home recently and decided these are definitely spot on, to the point where I don't need any more. I'm not even thinking vintage Fenders...happy with what I've got. Tis a great feeling. I've strayed back into EB, and the Big Al 5 is exactly the kind if bass I want next...eg unique, awesome tone, and EB quality.

OK chaps, I approached a few of the leather strap makers, and their stock sizes are pretty damn 'low slung' for what Im after. All of my straps I use now go pretty low, but im looking for something for more precise playing....so fairly high up! Im still a bit unsure if leather is what Im after. I tried one a few years back and found it rather odd compared to the normal Fender straps I use. So I need to check this out. Warwickhunt, I may take you up on that offer to try the Mono seen as though you are fairly close. Id only need it a few days just to test it at home and id know straight away if its right for me. Thanks for all the info guys.

Yep, I think this helps with the nice tone of the RW series, and I should hope so at the price! Pics up when you get it, I do like how theyve done these basses.
