1. Hey, I'm not actually complaining. I'm just discussing my opinion. This is allowed. Please dont dismiss other views just because you might not agree. Some of us don't just fall for hype, we ask why! No one should pay a premium just because its a high end product. Look at the USA prices between two or three cab makers, then look at it here in the UK. Disproportionate differences. One or two have a massive difference when in the USA they are virtually the same price. I'm not aiming this at any manufacturer, I've seen it quite few times. Certain cabs are overpriced in this country when you compare it to the USA, and what I mean by this is the fact other high end gear doesnt have the vast difference once they get to the UK.
2.
Top quality drivers are expensive. If you want a really high-end 10", you will pay at least £100 each at retail prices. I can see how a price of £1,000 is possible.
Possible, agreed, but insane. For what is effectively 4 high end speakers and a few other bits in a box!
3. Some neo cabs are just getting to silly prices, IMO. I can understand a quality cabinet, and the reasons behind high end amps, but at £1000+ for a 4x10, id rather put into an instrument.
4. Its probably been seen but my immaculate and tech checked SR is now for sale. I had 2 before this and eventually got a very good example after a few couriers back and forth.
5. That is a bargain! Especially the amp!
6. Yes...shame the price is quite high
7.
The difference is probably due to the quality and cost of the drivers they fit.
Agreed, but they make insanely light cabs for a very low price. Whether they are very high quality is obviously another issue.
8. Speaking of Neo cabs, why the HUGE price difference between GK Neo cabinets and, for example, Mark Bass cabinets?!
9.
I wonder how this affects MarkBass. They are very expensive anyway so what sort of price hike will they have I wonder.
Plus one. Lets not forget, Berg still had (has) a ceramic line, and from emails I shared with Jim, he knows there is a market and customers for this market. So, at least he can come up with some stupidly amazing ceramic cabs. Then we have Tecamp, Markbass, etc, who just have neo cabinets. I know Markbass speakers are B&C, so maybe things will be slightly different, but who knows!!!
10.
It always makes me laugh, especially on some of the more fruity US forums when people talk with reverence about the "Matamp Factory" like it's a scared, holy place, bathed in clean white light where tonez are made. I wonder if they could see that it's a run-down shed, up a little lane, behind a Tesco, that's completely disorganised with fag ends everywhere, that reeks of smoke with projects that started between yesterday and 40 years ago littered around if they would have the same reverence? I'm not knocking Matamp's product at all but they are very much a case of the British Inventor's Shed, not Googleplex.
LOL. Sounds interesting! Id like to visit.
11. At the moment there is only the NV range....and tbh I was very close on a few occasions to buying the HT112ER stack and then the AE212. I had to be careful though as I was moving houses on both occasions. In the end I stuck with the Aguilar DB cabs, which sonically and aesthetically cover everything for me. I did want a Berg cab or two though. We shall see what happens next.
12. Ah if I still lived up there! Good luck...
13. I understand that from an engineers point of view, but a customer? I can guarantee a large amount like ceramic loaded cabs...even if it's psychological. I cannot see them being phased out for a long time now this has happened.
14. I have noticed I quite enjoy writing nice choppy post punk on guitar and almost write full songs...probably because I can't find a guitarist who likes that kind of thing. I think one on the posters nailed it...I struggle to work with some guitarists as it's all ego.
15. I think it may have been linked to, but here is the reason why I started to take bass evenn more seriously....good bass players in punk? You'd be surprised how many there are. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPhZ8SYa1Sw Matt Freeman shredding on a Jazz bass with zero effort.
16. Nice setup! Love Aguilar and TC Gear!
17. Lovely!
18. I play a little guitar, but bass is better. Feels better for some reason. One thing I cannot stand is guitarists picking up a bass and playing it badly, expecting it to be 'an easier version of guitar'.
19. What AS or HS cabs are left over at the moment?!
20. I have mine pre-ordered!
21. Yep, Ive been reading this on Talkbass. Bold move to cancel so many different lines, but IMO, Jim's ceramic designs are amazing anyway, and I welcome new ceramic cabs. Yes, thats an old view I know, and Id like a neo cabinet, but it looks like its not going to happen now.
22. Bought my Gig Skinz bag from them, cheapest by FAR...quick delivery. Also I have an Orange AD200b Flight Case from them....nice quality. I had a different on for for 2-3 weeks and realised once I needed it and tried to fit the amp, they had made it too small! They asked me to double check sizes and they made a brand new one very quickly. Great company.
23. Just to add to confusion, apparently the reports on the Genz Streamliner are that it does the DB750 'thing' very well. Obviously I doubt it has the same authority, but we shall see.
24. The Aggie DB sound is excellent...I haven't tried an Aguilar amp yet ( ) but the cabs are excellent. Those mids are punchy but in no way obstructive to a good tone.
