Very fast, friendly and patient Basschatter! Enjoy the RH450 John, it's a very nice amp!

Lol...agreed the switches on Ashdowns have never worked for me.

Calling owners of basses with a pickup *close* to the neck
Musicman20 replied to Ancient Mariner's topic in Bass Guitars
The neo single pup (well stacked for silent use on it's own) with the Big Al sounds warm, full, but crazily articulate! I never thought it would sound so clear. Part of that is the pickup itself, but it's very close to the neck and a nicr sound. Depends on the pickup. -
If they were 60s spacing and rosewood board I would have definitely been interested. Cool idea.
-
I'm no expert, but the construction and materials in general are also factors. I'm quite keen to know what happens in 5 years time...what cabs will be after then?
-
Well it must be making quite an impact. Bergantino stopping AE series production apparently, according to the Talkbass topic.

Can a warped 60s Fender celluloid s/p be unwarped?

Er...pics of bass please! -
Totally weird how the Sterling was going to be a 3 pickup bass....finally we get the Big Al

Might put Sue Ryder P officially for sale and upgrade to one of these.

Im actually glad a company have realised how much Matt Freeman changed modern punk with purely insane licks that I struggle to understand the speed of! The MF P and all the other basses mentioned here are really decent. I've resisted the CVs for a long time but I don't think I can anymore!

They look like the first Nintendo DS, a little bit Fisher Price!

I think Ashdowns new tube amps look phenomenal and they get rave reviews. At the time I always preferred the Trace (pre-Gibson) equipment, and I've tried Ashdown lots of times and I just cannot get around the EQ/controls....

Plenty of room in there! Nice one

Rising costs of Neodymium – concerns on Talkbass I realise most internet discussions on forums as large as Talkbass can become out of hand and are often blown out of proportion. It happens on all forums I guess! The main reason for this topic is the concerns that have been raised regarding neodymium prices and availability. It seems from my limited knowledge that neo is obtained from China who have recently actioned the prices and what appears to be a limit on the export amounts. As we all know, the neo-speaker market has become pretty damn large, with many manufacturers choosing neo speakers for their cabinet designs. Even pickups are incorporating neo, like the EBMM Big Al and some (?) Dingwall basses, (I presume there are a lot more). This is not a topic on the pros and cons, because we have been there before. We can all like what we like, lets face it. Where does this leave the consumer? Are we going to be hit with EVEN MORE price rises?! I personally think some neo cabs ARE over-priced, but then again so are many ceramic loaded cabinets. Lets face it, I think hiking the prices even more is going to leave the manufacturers with a problem. Will we, the consumer, pay the upcharge?! Lets not forget, if they are imported from say, America, to the UK, we are effectively going to have another price rise on top of what the neo price rise is, purely because of the fact its imported, (and no doubt some manufacturers may choose to take the mick and increase the prices disproportionately). Talkbass have quotes from Jim Bergantino and snippets off the Avatar website discussing the rise in prices. I think its clear that there is a state of limbo….as in they aren’t sure exactly what will happen next. It’s a shame Bergantino discontinued the HT/EX ER series and HS series. Perhaps he won’t in light of this? What do we think will happen next? We will just continue to buy and pay the rather silly price rises, or will the manufacturers sense this will cause problems and design more ceramic loaded cabinets again?! In my humble opinion, manufacturers who solely produce neo loaded cabinets are going to suffer quite badly with either a loss of sales or indeed loss of whole lines until things are rectified. I know as bass players, we are quite proud of our new technology, but when I try to explain to people that a 1x12 can cost upto £600 (before the price hike) they are literally flabbergasted! Who knows what is going to happen. I am still searching for ‘that’ neo cabinet that has the right spec, right size, and a weight that’s actually worthwhile spending the money on. Obviously being how I am, Id like it to sound as close to what I class as smooth with none of the neo ‘bite’ in the high mids that winds me up a little. Aguilar seem to have taken this idea with the SL112s, but we shall see, so its obvious they can make neo and ceramic sound almost the same. I have my eye on the Genz Benz Neo X212T in the new vinyl/tolex finish they have released…that seems to tick all the boxes so far (eg light, great size, 4 ohm, 2x12, well renowned, and a fair price).

Lol, the TC amps are packed at the back...agreed. Why a cab would have one input is more annoying if you ask me. Yep OBBM is your man:)
I tried an RS210 cab and didn't like it. I found it to be very bright and quite aggressive sounding, though I guess that it may work better with an RH450 which has an upper treble roll off. Have they removed the roll off with the newer RH750 ?
The RH750 has the Tweetertone function which allows the 450 treble roll off or full on modern hi fi ping! Everything in-between as well.
-
I sold mine to get the RH750! Keeping the cabs and pedal to use with it, obviously! It's not flavour of the month for myself, I seriously think TC have nailed it and the 750 is going to be SO versatile yet still retain what I like.
-
Great news...the RH750 price is actually very reasonable. Bass Merchant say around £849 street price.

FS/FT EBMM Ball Family Reserve Stingray 4HH *SOLD*

Seems like the default freqs are slightly different on bass/treble but still have the same range (eg im guessing flat the amp is slightly different but can go straight to RH450 tone with a tweak). I think...anyway,
-
You all know what I think already...! I dont need the power but I like the tweetertone. Plus, it will power 3 TC cabs with a bit more ommph. Nice move...opens the market for them even more.

Yes Big Al!!!

EBMM Big Al. Awesome.

TC RH450 for sale - Literally immaculate
Musicman20 replied to Musicman20's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale

Totally immaculate TC RH450 which has been looked after extremely well! Comes complete with the box and instructions. I may consider throwing in the gig bag made by TC, not sure yet. This depends on the offer! They seem to be going for £829.00 ish new, so £615 or £625 including the gig bag. Obviously I will ship for roughly £15.00 or whatever deal we come to. Check my feedback, this is in top notch condition! I will provide pics soon.
