1. Hi all In the second hand market, what roughly are Bongo 5 HH basses 'worth', not taking into account they are a little 'out there'.
2. I think the recent obsession with weight is something im not used to. Until using the for sale section, I barely thought about it, and now I spec to be under 10lbs for fear of it being difficult to sell on the second hand market. Saying that, my old MIA Fender Deluxe P was VERY heavy and awkward. Im guessing it was 12lbs. Laklands are the worst for weight, in the 5 string department, (IME). Their JO5s must weight about 12 lbs on average! My Ray 5 HS is so much lighter in comparison.
3. Wayne is off for another Sterling though, so all is fine
4. If I had the roadies, an Aguilar DB412, probably with one of the amps I already own. Id have the Orange Ad200b Mk3 set up for a complete grind fest, and the STL 900 or RH750 setup for middy finger style playing. I pretty much own the basses I want, although an immaculate 60s Fender P and J, and an early Ray, would be a great addition.
5. Hmm, tough one. I think we all crave the holy grail cabinet, but I find its hard to pin it down. For me, my Aguilar DB212 is my favourite all time cabinet, but I do also like the TC cabs. As you can imagine, this means Im quite happy with mids being prominent. When it comes to it, I guess its not necessarily the speakers, but the overall design and tone goals you need to check out. Even the Genz Neo X 212T is quite 'mid' present by all the reports ive heard. Does it have to be within a certain weight range? You might be plesantly suprised with the Orange OBC115.
6. Peter - Off topic, but Im glad the Sterling 5 was snapped up so quick. They are very very nice basses. I'll put some pics up of mine soon (Sterling 5 HS Tobacco Burst/Rosewood/Black Plate). I'd like to know what that White Pearl is like in the flesh...is it quite sparkly? I'm hoping it is.
7. I knew WH would like this
8. If they all do it, then I wouldnt worry about it. I doubt it goes through the DI.
9. Don't turn up and admit you spend too much time wondering about bass gear, hahah! Save that for when you know them and might possibly be able to talk gear with the guitarist. Otherwise, they might glaze over. Quite a lot of musicians just plug and dont give a cra* about what they are using.
10. Those Smith's guitar and bass parts are an intrinsic part of the music. In fact, they are probably some of the best indie/rock bass lines Ive heard... Very memorable, and instantly 'Smiths' as soon as you hear it. Shame...I did see Andy DJ'ing at Glasto a few years back, the night before it all started, and he did a good job of warming us all up depsite the rubbish weather.
11. Ive got EB Group III flats but I intend to try some chromes very soon.
12. I dont read music and Ive never been in a position to need to. Hey, my singer/acoustic guitarist, as tight and as good as he is, doesnt even know the chords/notes he is playing, he just says 'fifth fret', to which I say, 'oh an A' or whatever. I would like to learn, but I seriously have little time, and what time I do have is for practicing with bands, gigging, golf, or (trying) to keep fit. Maybe one day. I appreciate its a very good skill to have.
13. Anymore pics of that White pearl please?!
14. Hmm, the RH750 gives a very small click, apparently it's normal. Sorry if that doesn't help!
15. Someone has a GREAT bass coming.
16. I have a perfect condition official Aguilar GS212 cover that someone could also buy if they wanted this cab! Cheeky bump for you as well
17. I would also like to know what audio interface I need to record bass parts...any ideas? It would just be one at a time...so single input.
18. I have a perfect condition Aguilar GS 212 cover spare that I should have sold a long time ago. £32.00 INCLUDING P&P. It is the official version, big Aguilar logo, nice and thick padded cover. Link to pictures (sort of) and spec on Aguilar site: http://store.aguilaramp.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=3 Not one mark on it. Thanks
19. In fact, I think Ampeg have really started to pull back into the market, but again, I hear all the repair issues on the new Micro VRs, PF350/500s and the 7 Pro, and it puts me off. What they arent so great at is testing these amps fully before they hit the market.
20. Sadowsky will sell one directly. The Gallery may also be able to help.
21.
I really, really hope it is!
Otherwise, there would be no additional power, which doesnt make sense at all....we shall see! I do however understand Uffe's explanation given, and why they did it. It might seem odd, but as a few on talkbass mentioned, you can turn everything up full and nothing will clip...at all...just keep pushing.
22. The general consensus is the 750 spec is a typo. We shall find out soon.
23. When I saw Foo Fighters at Milton Keynes Bowl, Jimmy Eat World supported (and they were superb as always). Oh yes, I spotted the exact same Micro VR. If those amp heads didnt have the current problems I hear about on tbass, id probably buy one myself. Once they iron the issues out I might buy one.
24. Wow this is the only other Sterling 5 HS basses I've seen in here. These really are fantastic quality basses. A little more mid orientated and aggressive than the latest Ray 5s. Great price, these are about £1900 now!
