1. Interesting thread, but as much as MM is one badass player, his tone is 'meh' to me. Too clicky for my tastes. Flea is much more interesting but that's just me.
2. Not keen. It doesn't look worth more than £200. Cool idea, probably sounds ace.
3. This is nice! Is the colour one that changes in certain light between grey/blue ish/black/sparkly?
4. I tried a Puma amp and I had a cabinet. Its on par, quality wise, with TC. Everything looked very professionally made re: fit/finish. I think the Taste might be like the VLE?

So, which stores here will order you a Metro 'new'? Eg one that's not been on the hanger for 9 months... I asked GuitarGuitar and I felt like they couldn't be bothered.
6. Yeah the Puma looks great!
7. Great price...arghghg!
8. Three orders apparently in 3 weeks. Apparently people would buy one 'in a New York Minute'.
9. I definitely agree a crap amp cannot be rescued by a great cab. It might bring out the best, but the best is still crap! You definitely don't have to believe the hype with the current trend of £1000 cabs. The difference is very very negligible unless you are playing a superb gig/venue. I've played cheap amps/cabs at great venues and it sounded immense! But agreed, you put a crap bass sound in, you get crap out!
10. Yes they did..so I'd haggle down to £1000!
11. The LM2/3 and F1/500 are the popular Markbass amps for a reason. The 800 series sound odd, and I never really liked the LM Tube and Rocker. If you want more power, the SD1200 is closer to the LM3 tone compared to the 800 series.
12. Markbass arent that great at putting real tubes in the pre. The LMTube tube is tiny and it's directly soldered onto the board. I would personally get another brand or use a pedal and the LM3 or F series if you want grit.
13. You can get a 2 band with case for roughly £1200 if you are cheeky, in any colour you desire!
14. The F500 will eat the Shuttle 6.0 alive! Hmm, Markbass need to make a new higher powered F700! I would suggest, possible, looking at the Genz Shuttlemax 9.2, or the TH RH750. The RH750 can get very sparkly if you want it to. Also, it is very clean if you want it to be, (just ignore tubetone) and the EQ is great. Very high quality...id say out of all the micros, the quality of build is on the top.
15. More than likely going to leave the Jazz until my career job starts in 2012, and for now get a 2 band Ray....because they are great.
16. Damn, if this was closer so I could take a look, id probably buy this
17. Thats a good price. Cheapest I can get online for a Roadworn Jazz is £925...ouch.
18. Im sure someone mentioned the 500W Aguilar Tonehammer amp has the same power module as the Shuttle 9.0..... Weird? I dont know the specifics, but is this a similar idea? Eg power management, cooling, driving the power amp hard?
19. Its exactly the same 2EQ as normal ordered 2EQs...I think they mean that most people 'expect' a 3EQ, hence the simpler. They are a limited run, limited colour setup...the reason they are cheaper is the lack of colours and the gigbag. The rest is exactly the same as the normal Rays. I tried one out in Soundslive last year and it was excellent. Really nice bass, light, well made, everything you want a 2 band to be! Im currently considering leaving my Jazz quest and getting a 2 band Ray on order - Natural/maple/white pup/tort guard. Yummy!
20. I do like the Roadworn Fiesta Red, its lovely! However, it needs haggling down in price...£975 is far too much.
21. I did, ran into a few problems unfortunately...so back on the search.
22. Exactly, I have a MIA P which I got last year (2010) and its a 2009. Best Fender ive owned, and it was nowhere near £1100...nowhere near!
23.
So when is Darren getting your order? My personal favourite non-jazz jazz bass is the early/mid 80's SB2. The ones I've played have a quality of MM basses and it still sounds like a proper jazz. Saving for a Wal myself. You should go to a variety of shops try a load, haggle them down as much as possible, then go to other shops try a load more and then mention your quote from earlier most shops do price-matching, as long as you can prove it's legit. However I agree AS fenders not worth 1k.
Only got the Ray HH Matching Stock on order now....trying to find a Jazz bass.
24.
I've never played a Fender that is seriously flawed. I've had a MIM jazz, a MIA jazz & currently a Deluxe MIA P bass. I had the chance to play a fair few different ones when I bought my MIM & several years later the MIA. Both times some were noticeably not as good as others, but none were dogs at all. Where are all these awful Fenders people speak of on here??
Ive owned and sent back to the stores more than a few times in the past 2 years. Ive played probably 8-10 American Standards (2008-) and about 2-3 were keepers. The rest had bad quality control that youd expect on a £200 starter bass.
25. ...other option - Mayones Jabba Classic. I will entertain 4s and 5s.
