  1. I agree the Little Mark Vintage could be a nice amp! Good feature set. Markbass seem to churn out new products all the time. It's crazy! Although I still don't see many in music shops.
  2. They are really really nice basses!
  3. I am biased as I love Musicman and the Ray sound. My Musicman Classic 5 is the best bass guitar I have ever played or heard in my 23+ years of playing. It helps that it is stunningly pretty.
  4. This is the first bass amp I've been interested in for YEARS....
  5. They look amazing. Unique sound. Weird to play. Too expensive for what they are.
  6. The quality of EBMM is right up there. But, considering I bought a brand new untouched from the dealer Musicman Stingray HH guitar (not bass) for around £1150 about 6 months ago, and they are now £2400+ (although they do now have a lovely roasted neck) I really struggle with new pricing, and that applies to Fender. and Gibson! Bongos are now £1000+ more than a few years ago. They are excellent premium instruments, no doubt about it.
  7. Legendary punk song writer. RIP Pete.
  8. I still think Flea sounds better with a humbucker in the sweet spot, despite his Jazz bass sounding fantastic. It really pops for that aggressive rock/funk.
  9. I have heard that there may be talks about a different dealer for Mesa. There is the recent buying consortium known as GAP: "It also follows the news that three of the UK’s largest retailers (Anderton’s, PMT and Guitar Guitar) have banded together to form a buying alliance which they are calling GAP. This is a story we had intended to bring you a couple of weeks ago, and would have done if the participants had been willing to talk about it. Whatever GAP could be about, one thing that it definitely is about is margin – an attempt to push retail margins back to a level where a retailer can stay in business. If that means building ‘own brands’ in accessories, or taking on exclusive lines (GAP has taken on Alvarez and, if rumour is true, G&L guitars) who can blame them? Especially if the alternative is to sell ‘big brand’ products either a loss or, at best, with a promise that there may be a few points in it for you sometime later, if you’re good and eat up your spinach!" The G&L prices were driven down because of this (I think they are now sold directly to the stores). I'd welcome this for Mesa; we don't need 'distributors'.
  10. Over £2,000 for a 4x10... https://www.andertons.co.uk/mesa-boogie-subway-bass-cabinet-4-x-10-ultra-light
  11. Ok, £1299 https://www.andertons.co.uk/mesa-boogie-subway-wd-800-lightweight-bass-head
  12. http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Mesa_Boogie.html I think we will see a price soon....
  13. I'm tempted by one of these....
  14. I'll be honest and say the demos in the videos sound excellent, and I've not had interest in new bass amps for years. Obviously the players helps. The cabs seem super light for Mesa. I did hear a rumour that Mesa prices may become 'fairer' over here, due to a change in how they are received over here, etc. We can wish!
  15. Aye I'd be interested to see what this amp is like in real life!
  16. 8.7 lbs is crazy for a Ray 5!
  17. Jees, I hope you get sorted. That sounds pretty dangerous!
  18. I'm not so sure that the latest Class D can be criticised so much....I've even seen more and more guitar amps using them with a tube pre and the results are fantastic. With the right engineering, it can sound just as good, and in some cases, better. We might all want a traditional bass amp, full tube, or even the traditional solid state like an old Trace or some of the new Orange rack mount amps, but then you will probably end up at a venue or rehearsal room and put your signal through a Class D PA.....
  19. I'm guessing £1200+. IIRC, one of the guys from Genz Benz moved over to Mesa about 4 years back, so I presume this is part of his work on high powered lightweight class D bass amps. The technology is constantly moving on. Personally I can't see how/why they would release this without getting close to the old design.

  21. Prices dropping already: http://www.peachguitars.com/fx-pedals/line-6-helix-hx-stomp.htm £449
  22. It is a fantastically well built and thought out piece of gear. I think if I was gigging heavily I would go for a full fat Helix and get a good powered monitor that could handle bass (5 sting) and guitar. Unfortunately since I've been in my career my time is so heavily invested in work that my music has took a HUGE hit in terms of time. I don't have time for a band now...but I am making plans to change this.
  23. I've had a full fat Helix Floor, and whilst I was VERY impressed with the general ease of use, and some of the drives etc, and the phenomenal build quality, I wasn't sold on the size and weight. This is a bit like a slightly larger Tech 21 BDDI Sansamp box. I do have the possibility of buying one, but I won't have time to use it for a long time....
