Borne from an weekly jam session in a London squat. The ritual of playing music birthed the Rites of Haḍḍā. https://soundcloud.com/rites-of-hadda SPIRIT OF THE AGE Hawkwind covers in stripped-down proto-psych-punk power trio stylee ! https://www.facebook.com/groups/1413797498884813 ELECTRICITY COMES FROM OTHER PLANETS Brash, fast, melodic & original punk'n'roll quartet, with lyrics you don't necessarily expect from a punk band. Formed in 2003. Split in 2007. Reformed June 2016. Old enough to know better, stupid enough to not care. Back in the day they supported Art Brut, The Libertines, Babyshambles, Selfish ****, Dogs d'Amour, Flying Medallions... https://www.facebook.com/ElectricityComesFromOtherPlanets/ www.tinyurl.com/ecrfopyt1 https://soundcloud.com/ecfop LACK a punk sensibility with a metal soul - no nonsense, stripped back, grungy, metally punk. https://www.facebook.com/LACKfans
2.
love my bb424x but as previously mentioned a front body jack would be nice - apart from the pulling the cable out, it doesnt sit well on a stand where the jack is when plugged in. love my ashdown cabs but side handles and width mean its always a twist and turn through doorways! wouldnt swap either of them though!
Aha! I knew i was right about the 424x
3. I don't really mind but a lot of my mates call me bassman.....which is cool with me
4. Love my Yam 424x but wish it had a front facing output jack.
5.
Well, the 201's sound great! Just got them and had a play about. A lot better than I would have expected from a £17 pair of phones. I was more attracted them them over the 202's as I believe these have a longer cord. Thanks lads!
Cool, glad they do the trick
6.
I'll start. It depends on what a band is looking for. Here's an example, a national touring band, let's say they're headlining 250-500 seat venues. They are booked for 4 months, East coast,West coast and the Midwest. Then another month in Europe. They're looking for a bass player. I'd be very hesitant to to audition as I have no touring experience. Blue
However to get experience of auditioning as long as you're clear on your level of previous knowledge it may prove worthwhile.
7. We didn't have a soundcheck..... I play for "nowt" and always have a soundcheck lol.
8. I so want this.....however all my basses together don't amount to the cost. GLWTS
9. I have a MIM Precision exactly the same colour. Fantastic bass which i've left bog standard and strung with Roto 66 Swing Nickels. Well made and sounds great.....you'll love it.....Enjoy!
10. These always come up when the ££s are running on empty for mr .....GLWTS
11. The pins that hold the elephants ear in place are rivets and peined over. I'm sure that tuning key could be gripped in an engineers vice (with soft jaws) and pinched back together to grip the elephants ear better. A tech or luthier could do this as the tuning peg can be removed from the bass. Should be an easy fix.
12. I use Senheiser HD201's.....very decent price and good headphones.
13.
My local venue used to be The Torrington in Finchley. Fairly decent PA there and most bands used the house sound guy. Piss him off or treat him badly and he'd make you sound absolute sh*t. I saw a guitarist give him stick in a very uncompromising and public way once because he was struggling with his monitor volume. Sound guy sorted him in the monitors, then pulled him out of the front of house mix completely. . .
Aah the Torrington. Saw the Hamsters there a few times. Dumpys Rusty Nuts aswell i seem to remember.
14. Play the gig. Look at it as a challenge: How to sound good with reduced kit and finite space. Could be a very good learning curve and better than you think. Negotiate the original ££s or Blue will never let you live it down
15. Fantastic price for a really well made bass 👍
16.
I would also run this by your local MU rep if you have joined - and if you haven't, join. There's lots of advice to be had from them as well as help with contracts etc.
Nice to see someone organising and trying to recruit into the MU
17.
I just bought a cheap TRBX305 & can't believe how good it is. I'm now wanting a TRB1005 Ooohhhhhh & a Nathan East BB Did someone say Yamaha basses are addictive
Yes.....
18. Our guitarist uses an 80w Traynor 2x12 valve combo. Loudest he has it on is 2! The thing literally shakes the building.
19. Yamaha's are very good quality and highly addictive.
20. They are likely to be laying off staff with immediate effect. No redundancy no nothing just before Xmas. Yes it's sh*te not being paid but it's also more sh*te not having money for Xmas.
21.
In the SW, my last group, a 3 piece got normally 240. now in a 4 piece, we get normally 250/260, so pretty much the same but less each! Having said that, a couple of venues here we asked and have gone up to £300 because they liked us and we do a long set (long for the UK, obviously quite short for Milwaukee).
Do you haul lights?
22. 70 quid a pop isn't too bad if you ask me.
23. Could the active preamp be overloading the amp input and be causing it to clip the signal? This used to happen with my old Yam TRBX 305 and it's for this reason i sold it it and got a passive BB.
