1. Bass / Vocals: Phil Lynott Guitar 1: Huw Lloyd-Langton Guitar 2: Richie Blackmore Keyboards: Harvey Bainbridge Drums: Bill Ward
2. Bought a Precision Highway 1 from Dennis, good communications, just as described and a very smooth transaction. Thank you
3. Where are the scratches on the bass Dennis as i can't make any out on the pics? Are there any on the neck?
4. Damnation Alley - Hawkwind with lyrics by the late Robert Calvert. Really good song and the bass plays an important role
5. I ditched all my individual effects for a Zoom B1on which i always gig with now. I programme each patch per set list song.....sorted I genuinely believe the B1on is good enough in most cases as a gigging tool.
6.
Yup. Plus the middle position gives a burp similar to, but not exactly like, the Fender P/Js I have had. I reckon those BB424/425s are unbelievable for the money. I've read on here many times that Yamaha make the best precision basses and I am beginning to wonder if there might be something in that... I really am GASing for a 80s BB5000 as I reckon that will be sublime.
Completely agree! The Yams are impressive all round and a great workhorse. Mine has become my go to bass.
7.
Precision all the way for me, too - that is the tone that defines bass guitar as far as I am concerned. I have three 4 string basses that I will be keeping - 2 are JV Squier Precisons. I found myself with a problem when I moved to 5 string basses and found that Fender/Squier 5 string Precisions were either a/ too heavy and/or b/ string spacing too wide. Solved by putting a Precision pickup into a MM Sterling 5 that was lighter with tighter spacing. Then I tried a Yamaha BB425 and find I am liking the P pup in that very much.
I have a 424x.....fantastic P pickup in that plus the bonus of the added J pickup.....belt n braces
8. I use Yamaha BB424x into a Zoom B1on into a TC Electronic BG208 Combo and 2x10 Cab. All cheap as chips and cheerful. Mind you i may upgrade the amp / cab.
9. Zero hours contracts are like that.... Do the dep that's still going.
10.
Is this what you meant to say? I fixed it for you because it had become part of a quote attributed to me...
Thank you Comrade ✊ ☺
11.
But a Yamaha is so goddamned unamerican... Yeah those goddamned Commies using non Mercan instruments..... There, I said it out loud.
12. My Precision moved from my go to bass to my back up being replaced by a Yam BB 424x.....it is in its case safe n sound ready for when i need it again. i do however have a thing for Jazz Basses at the mo.
13. +1 for Phil Lynott.....i feel he's the coolest bass/frontman of all time.
14. One.....normally transported with me via tube or bus. But regularly maintained to cut the likelyhood of breakdown.....hopefully :/
15. Put a set of standard 045s to 105s on and this buzz will likely go away. I believe Jazz' are a slightly lighter gauge as supplied.
16. If you like the look and have the ££s then go for it.....why not If you're not keen.....buy a newun and bash it for 30 years.
17. In my last two gigs my Yamaha bass has picked up a couple of headstock marks owing to a small stage and a scratch near the output jack. I tend to be very careful with my instruments but gigging / rehearsal knocks and marks happen. I'm going to road wear my own thank you
18. I like that in the FAQs they make clear about the working practices of the manufacturers and decent ethics. I feel that's important and would draw me to their products.
19. Always preferred a Bungalow to be honest.....
20. Ha! I never change round wounds either.....unless they break of course.
21. I love the colour of this bass.....very cool! I cannot afford it but it is lovely.....GLWTS
