Great basses, great fella, great price..... These are the most under appreciated of all the Warwick's in my book.
Agreed they're really great, awesome necks, i have Wizards trads & passive in mine......although ironically I was going to offer you mine for your MM Sub as a trade, but i see your after cash

Thoughts on my speaker configurations. (Series/Parallel)
Raslee replied to Raslee's topic in Amps and Cabs
I'd keep them separate fella. To be frank mixing cabs from different manufacturers is a fast route to a sh*tty sound in my opinion. Each will have it's own character, which you can compensate for a bit with EQ, but with two, or three different sounding cabs you're probably going to end up never quite happy with the sound. I reckon your best bet, especially for reggae, is to flog the lot and get a decent 4 ohm 2 x 12, better two, or even 2 x 15. Plus, if you get a well designed cab with good sensitivity (especially LF) you won't need so much power! I used to use an Acoustic 1x18 for my dub band, it didn't need much more than 100 watts to flap the trousers of the first 4 rows because it was a very efficient design (in terms of sound - definitely not in terms of transportation!). I ran it with a 100w valve head for years, never really got the amp to work hard either...
Cheers for the very good advice guys, noted. I'll see how i get on soundwise first, i do have a 4x10 & 15" cab too which i can also play around with (i have to many cabs indeed!). Just curious to the 2x10 configs but some very good points about mixing cabs etc. Would love an Acoustic 18" cab to try...never tired an 18" to be honest. Thanks again -
Thought the drumming was brilliant

Ok, its an ohms/Watts 'kind of question', but mainly questioning the use of serial cab configurations. Hope it makes some sense. I've got four 2x10 cabs (2 coming shortly in the post): Two are 8ohm ~(same speakers and are rated @ 400W) and the other two are both 4ohm (one GK with upgraded speakers @ 700W & a Carvin rated @ 400W) I've got two bass amps: Orange Terror (capable of 500W at both 4 & 8 ohms) - i'll use this mainly for soul/funk. My second amp is a Eden Nemesis NA650 (650W at 2 ohms & 440 at 4ohms) - i'll use this mainly for reggae. I prefer the 2ohm 650W for the headroom needed in reggae (heavy bass man!) I also have a special series cable made by our resident genius, Obbm. So my configurations:- 4x10 Both 8ohms cabs together giving me 4ohms - So basically a 4x10 @ 4 ohms and my two 4 ohms cabs giving me 2 ohms for a 4x10 config for the Eden head. What 's the best config if i want a 6x10??? I could put the two 4 ohms in series giving me 8 ohms and parallel with one of the 8 ohm giving 4 ohms to the Orange - is this good or bad? mainly wondering as one of the 4ohms is rated at 700W whereas all the others are 400W. Or for the Eden doing reggae - what about both 8ohms cabs in parallel giving 4 ohms and then parallel with one of my 4 ohm cabs giving 2 ohms? (Prob the 400W is best...i'm guessing). Any advantages/disadvantages of series wiring...more importantly will i lose any low bass frequency for the reggae stuff. I did consider getting a 6x10 cab but for portability and versatility i have opted for the 2x10's route. Hope this all makes some sense.

Trick ...how to get new strings in 10 minutes....

If I slap the sh*t out of my strings on my reggae bass I'll get busted by the sniffer dogs.....man it's the sh*t that gives me my rasta tone anyhow 😎 -

I used to get stoned with friends and listen to this in the 90's, although great it's worth checking out Agharta and also Pangea. Also Live Evil is great. Definitely cleared some parties back in the day with this stuff...apart from fellow crazy muso types

If you want to go down the effects root then a Zoom B3 is worth some consideration - lots of flexibility and fun. You get filters and amp modelling to play around with on the B3...it does quite a good Ampeg SVT sound which i like for recording but if you wanting modern electric bass sounds then a filter (aka Bill Laswell style) is good as previously mentioned...i really like the Moog LPF for a more modern dub sound...but then i tend to prefer the old school roots King Tubby type dub and play with a simple set up...seems to work for the modern UK Roots style dub i do too....but then its the sound system and the fingers that's doing the job, not so much my rig
Nah, forget all that sh*t, what you need is one of my patented JAH-TONE control knob sets. Stick em on, tighten em up, and you will find the Rastaman Vibrations in your wedding vegetables. Satisfaction guaranteed. Jah be praised. Bless up.
Haha awesome...love it mate. I'm recently playing reggae & dub again and have found love in my Fender 1974 Jazz tone, no jazz i've ever owned sounds like this old beauty - pure magical tone. I had no intentions to use this bass for reggae and wanted to use my Lakland 5 but nothing as ever sounded as warm or defined as this bass does!!!.... I try not to think about its monetary value ahem! As for amps, i've never really liked the Markbass sound for dub but then Robbie Shakespear is endorsed by them so there must be something i'm missing. I tried the Markbass and two 15" cabs for a while a few years back and just found that their neo's seem to be missing something compared to the back breaking Ampeg speakers that i owned also at the time. That said, the Barefaced Dubster cab is a monster and disproved my beliefs about neo's. FWIW i'm using a Eden Nemesis 650a - love it through a Carvin 2x10 & and LD 4x10...plenty of air but bloody heavy Anyhow, just play close to the neck, tone mostly down...although its good to let a bit of definition through and then DI into a giant scoop sound system and let the engineer mash it (can you tell i played a soundclash last weekend ). Listen to lots of good dub too...Dub Syndicate is a good start

One OTB bass back in my hands from Orange and better than ever. Orange have done me proud beyond expectation, fixed my out of warranty OTB with new boards etc (basically a new amp), can't believe how good that customer service is - top service and I've not been charged anything either so far. Big massive thumbs up to Orange - gotta love happy endings

Ampeg PF800 & PF 115HE Cab (Opinions, thoughts...words of wisdom)
Raslee replied to Raslee's topic in Amps and Cabs
I have a PF500 and used it with Rastas old 410hlf,an svt115 and an svt410 and combinations thereof and all of it sounds just fine and the amp has been very reliable over 40 gigs. However. Seeing as Rasta is obviously looking for lighter and smaller than any of the above... Tough one getting loud dub tones out of anything less than a 2x15,depends on how loud I suppose? I'd go try the PF cabs somewhere and see if they'll keep that tone at the volume you need. Can't see it out of one cab though.
Good to hear the ol' HLF s going strong matey, great cabs them. Funny enough the reggae guys that i used those SVT's with (i had 2 at the time) have got back together and wanting to do stuff again ...so full circle gear wise again (still hankering for a cheap Warwick 6x10...favourite dub cab to date!!!). However, I've got a few cabs already so i can make a combination of most set ups but i'm thinking whilst wifey is feeling passive i must get something sharpish...she can change her mind very quickly. Ironically i think I've fixed my Eden Nemesis today which i love that amp for my reggae sound and also Mansons informed me that my Orange Terror bass has been fixed and i can collect it soon - not sure if i'm to be charged yet. Still....wifey doesn't need to know all this ...I am mainly thinking the Ampeg will be for my Motown/Funk band now, well definitely the cab anyhow...i probably won't high mileage it with dub on the clock - just wish this uni bursary would come through before the boss changes her mind!!! -
Ampeg PF800 & PF 115HE Cab (Opinions, thoughts...words of wisdom)
Raslee replied to Raslee's topic in Amps and Cabs
With you on the PF800, but possibly you may like to consider a Barefaced Dubster instead of the PortaFlex? http://barefacedbass...nge/dubster.htm
I've past owned a Dubster, great cab...then the same band folded so i swapped it for something more generic (another Barefaced in fact). It was a great cab indeed, but i need some thing a bit more generic. My favorite cab to date was a 6x10 Warwick but again i'm not sure my back did.
cab. Get a high end cab and a decent high powered micro (I don't trust Ampeg's latest PF amps one bit) and you are good to go.
I trust your point on the 15" cab...i may well reconsider something different. Regards the PF issues, yeah I've read the stories...yet i would hope those issues are sorted by now. Not heard so many horror stories with the 800 as per the 500 though -
Meh! I'm in an amp crisis at the moment. My trusty Orange TB died and is currently with Orange. My back up Eden Nemesis NA650 has started to cut out lots and make a horrible distorted noise and then slowly come back on again after a short while - rather embarrassing at a recent wedding gig. Have opened the Eden, nothing obvious that i.can see though - shame as i love this amp for my reggae stuff too. ....and soooo after long consultation with the Mrs and the pending arrival of my university bursary, wifey agree's that i can get a new amp-so one must act quick whilst her iron is hot. After doing some research, knowing the sound i like, I've finally arrived at the Ampeg PF800. I will be using it with a reggae/dub band and also a soul/funk band. I like a warm vintage type sound and have a preference for the 800watts due to the rather loud sound system situations i can end up in with the dub band (nice to have the head room too). I'm also considering the PF 15" cab to go with it too and sell off my Hartke 4x10XL (i love my Hartke but my back doesn't)...plus i think i'm more of a 15" guy...ahem! I will of course still keep my OTB and perhaps operate further on the Eden but I think an Ampegs on the cards Thoughts, opinions etc

Should we be in bands for money, or for enjoyment?
Raslee replied to thebrig's topic in General Discussion
The last band I was in I left, partiallly because the money became more important than the enjoyment to everyone else
Ditto, I've just recently put my notice in on my soul band as money is the only reason for its existence now, the fun has diminished and the personalities have become fragile to say the least. So much so that they ditched all 'fun' lower paid gigs in favour of constant wedding payers. Not for me im afraid, hence my moral departure. Back to some fun reggae times for now, despite being skint
