  1. Cheers mate. I’d been researching a bit and seems the neck was probably warped, big bow in the middle - so gave the truss a tweak more tight....and it’s just snapped - game over 😩
  2. Wrong thread!
  3. So, I’ve been doing up a very battered Vox White Shadow Fretless I oddly acquired. Have fitted some Sandberg elecs as the originals were shot - I had a spare set and pre and that works a treat. The main problem I am having is the setup. Please help a novice who’s lost! The action is really quite high, think double bass, at the nut end. Yet low at the dusty end (nearest the pick up), and when I fret any string above the 7th fret area it buzzes madly on the fretboard, mainly catching around 17th to the end of the neck. The truss rod turns but is maxed out and the bridge saddles are as low as they’ll go. I’ve tried slacking the truss and that just equals mega high action. Help? Knackered neck ?
  4. Humble shout for the Markbass NY 151. light, small footprint and always really liked this cab for a bit of reggae. Great lows but well defined unlike some. Worked well for a bit of Motown warmth too, especially with an Orange Terror head on top. I miss that combination.
  5. Buy a Sandberg and be happy
  6. Put some EMG's in my Bullet and changed the pre to the EMG BQC. I think i prefer it over the Delano's...the Delano's were OK but love having the mid control on the BQC. Had to change the crappy EMG plastic knobs - now sporting much improved chrome knobs.
  7. Just had my Pfizer vaccine.....still can't play like Jaco but I'm transmitting to Bill Gates 😂

Maybe you'll grow a third arm, and be AMAZING at fretting / plucking! :D

I don't think the Jaco playing will kick in until after the second dose is administered😂

Ahh, yes fair point. Maybe if I get a Pfizer Oxford combo - I can sell my head 😂

  8. Sandberg every time 😉
  9. Any idea of the weight ?
  10. I’m in the both camp, but perhaps a maple neck on the copper 😊
  11. I have to admit I went Sandberg in the end. The QC woes at the time lost my interest and monies. I was so smitten with Sandberg that I had since bought another two. Have to say though your Ibby looks really beautiful. I do love a blue bass - enjoy 😊
  12. Wow, the Robbie Shakespeare bass
  13. When at school I always wanted to be an astronaut. The closest I got was the musical after parties led to me becoming a well established space cadet...many a cosmic journey in those 90’s halcyon daze. Have grown up considerably since then 😉
  14. Excellent Basschat support - Cheers chaps, that’s really helpful...well I think it is, I can sense the shear fear from Mrs Raslee......Right Ida Mk1 😆
  15. Think I may consider another Sandberg to add to my current 3. I’m slowly Gasing for this bass Prince is playing, yet I’m clueless to what the model is.
  16. Yup! Sandberg have got it right. I was a Fender or Lakland chappy but I’m a total convert - now I have 3 Sandbergs! Should really use this moment to add a cheeky pic...and a huge thanks to @edstraker123 for my recent Bullet addition 😊. Still smitten with them all.
  17. Bums, Elites low B's don't work on a fanned fret 6 er'!

      Cheers man, i'll have a look :)

  18. The pickup can be passive, the pre amp does the work. The Aguilar P60 that I’ve got is a tried & tested decent pick up, as aforementioned that I have fitted. But to be honest I thought the stock was really equally as good. I’ve been through a lot of pick ups over the years and was a little disappointed that I didn’t gain anything significant with the Aguilar, yet I know it’s a great pick up - perhaps a touch less top end but not as much bottom end as the stock Sandberg.
  19. Lots of bottom and the P sound you say? Look no further than the Sandberg Electra VS4 and thank me later. Oh and Hartke combos are pretty decent - I’ve got the HD25 for the living room and occasional jam, holds up well with good tone. However if looking on the bargain front a cheap second hand TCElectronic 250W will see you smiling for a while.
  20. They really are great basses for the money, I love mine to bits. On the EQ I used slightly more bass and rolled of the treble to tame those highs. That said I’ve recently put an Aguilar P60 in mine and an older Electra preamp which has a passive option. I like it, but I also liked it stock too.
  21. Best purchase i'd say this year was my Sandberg Electra VS4 P bass, simply bloody phenomenal for the money - plays lovely. I've recently put an Aguilar Pickup in it and i still can't quite make up my mind if i preferred the stock. Worst, Hartke TX600 amp, - bought two Hartke HD112's earlier this year which i quite like so thought i'd do the Hartke stack thing...and well...er na...first product i've ever sent back to the supplier. It just didn't cut it for me at all despite some perseverance.....eventually picked up a used HA7000 of here for peanuts...that defiantly gives the Hartke sound.
  22. Stunning mate , my YOB too...ahh dreams
  23. Bought a 6 string fanned fret bass off Dave and he even delivered from Dorset to Devon - total star and a big thumbs up from me. Deal in confidence. Loving the bass...but still not sure what that 6th string is all about 😂

Whilst not wanting to belittle your efforts to correct a minor oversight, you have left some low hanging fruit.  You only have yourself to blame...
