  1. Pretty much sums it up, yeah.. lol
  2. At the danger of getting this thread back on track, I see that Yamaha have announced the new DZR range to their powered PA kit. Given that I'm finding my way around my Helix (Yamaha own Line 6) and that our band PA is a full Yammy system too, I can't help thinking that I might like to try out a fully DSP controlled monitor instead of my backline.
  3. WOW!!!! Thank you so much! I'll give these a good listen through my studio monitors! Much appreciated! Off to a flying start!
  4. I use and have the device that behringer 'modelled' their P2 on, namely the Fischer Stick. The Fischer is a very high quality and excellent headphone amplifier and yes you could take a line out from your amp, in to this and direct in to your IEMs. I have another option you could try out too: This video I do need to update as I have some other solutions I use too. Maybe using a little mixer instead of the P2, you could blend your bass volume with that of the on stage sound but at a much more controllable volume in your moulded IEMs!
  5. I have Line 6 Native and will be looking forward to trying the DG plug in out too. I also use the awesome Positive Grid BIAS 2 and BIAS FX apps on my studio box. It'll be interesting to compare!
  6. Hey folks! Ok, so ages ago I promised (and let the side down) that I would re-do my TC Electronic Sub n' Up patches and share the settings with you. Well, ok so it didn't happen and I ended up finishing recording the biggest album of the year instead* So, in an attempt to pull my finger out (and take six months to complete this task) I want to see if we can emulate the sounds of some of our favourite Octave pedals using the stonking Sub'n'Up pedal and it's deeply delving TonePrint Editor app. Here's what I need: The sound of a dry bass recorded through the octave pedal of choice direct in to an interface (no amp please). Preferably with a P bass or J bass with all controls all the way open. I want to hear dry only and wet only sounds and a 50/50 mix. Wav files would be ideal but 320k MP3 of course would be a smaller file size. I'll then see what I can rustle up this end - and hopefully if I do finally get a new camera, a nice video to go with it too, like my bass chat review vids. What do you all think? @Al Krow I know you've been very patient! Dooooooood. *give it another 8 months, maybe!

    Line 6 Helix.

I tried to have a look at the forum, but I couldn't get in for all the toys thrown everywhere... dear me!

    Line 6 Helix.

I'm pretty excited as Nick very Kindly shared the first pictures with me. I love these and have put my order in already!

    Line 6 Helix.

Oh man! I missed all the fun!
  10. The impedance will drop down to 4 Ohms in parallel and up to 16 Ohms in series. The wattage is best described, to simplify things, as being the lower of the two values to be safe. Or to put it another way, I wouldn't want to throw a full 600W signal at a 250W rated speaker for too long. Though in reality this (a constant 600W signal) rarely happens.
  11. Which in Focusrite terms is insanely good. Even my humble laptop has been able to attain the advertised low latency figures below 2ms..
  12. I was there too! What a day!
  13. I was listening to BIMM's own Spotify list for bass which has some nice tunes on it and thought this one could do with a bump! This is a collaborative list, so BassChatters can add their own favourite bass lines too!
  14. Absolutely ace and if I were to add some 'further reading' that is absolutely relevant to us bassists: Aimee Nolte and Rick Beato are superb educators that cover everything from really simple musical techniques (I think the cool kids call them 'hacks') to an impressive display of full on mind melting theory. All wrapped up in a very watchable and engaging delivery.
  15. p.s. that bass was gorgeous!
  16. Tone bends for the win: (You don't have to watch the whole video, just a wee bit of noodling at the start!)
  17. I think if you are excessively grinding metal against metal then I can imagine that you could wear frets down. I use string bending a lot for expression but have never required a refret on any of my instruments in all my 25 odd years of playing. It's all in LH technique I feel.
  18. Wow that is..eerrrrrr. RARE!!
  19. Ha ha!! It actually took me a second to figure that one out! .. "In this month's issue, we are looking at zipped rubber masks..." lol
  20. Guitar Interactive Magazine
  21. I was due to interview Jack Bruce. I had his home address and meeting details all set up, but the day before we received notification that the interview wasn't to go ahead. Of course, none of us knew what was to happen relatively soon after. Would have been an incredible interview for sure.
  22. Rather than raising upward, I use one of these to angle the cabinet towards my ears: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Stagg-14708-Short-Amplifier-Monitor/dp/B002MUGL2W It actually will stand on one 1x12 with the other 1x12 on top.
  23. I’m interviewed in this month’s Bass Guitar Magazine! Excited to have my name on the front cover!

      Thank you everyone :)

Yes, I feel like I am 100 years old. I sometimes wonder if in my universe time is moving faster. It only feels like yesterday I had ten posts; I'm old and grey, 100 seemed to arrive in no time at all and typing 80,000 posts a year happened in a blink of an eye. ha ha!

Yes I will sign anything.. probably how I ended up in this mess in the first place lol...

  24. Great, gonna have to try it as I have lots of old Cakewalk projects for songs I've written I'd like to laugh at lol..
