Oh you legend! Wow I wonder if someone will make a conductive version rather than use the copper tape!
  2. I'd love to see it just from the description irrespective of if I needed a bass or not ha ha!!!!!
  3. For once, unbelievably, I'm going with "Jaco only needed.." blahdee blahdee blah Just 4 strings for this plan.
  4. Excellent! 15mm ha! That's insane... but also very exciting. I used to own a Gerald Veasley signature bass that had a 14mm spacing over 6 strings. I miss that bass. This thread has got the cogs whirring. Thank you Basschat, this is either going to end up being the cost of a bridge.. or.. a whole lot more!

I'm really hoping that somewhere it's possible to save the level of the pedal at zero rather than max in this case.
  6. Agreed! Tone, brilliant; Weight, brilliant; Balance sat down, brilliant. It's just my forearm and elbow that gets in the way of the body 'wing'!
  7. Yes yes, @Pete.young also mentions the same.
  8. Yes absolutely love it to bits, but I've always struggled with the body shape when sitting down fo similar instruments. I have only had the opportunity to pour over the original D-Bird prototype which was an immense instrument. Maybe I need to get one over for a review! Dan
  9. I'm actually being seduced by my own review videos.. god I'm good ha ha ha!!
  10. I have ended up buying kit after I reviewed it. I AM completely skint!
  11. I wish I had the budget for a Dingwall Combustion 4, but the Ibby makes a strong argument when there's no funds at all to begin with ha ha!!!
  12. It'd be interesting to hear one tuned all the way down. Maybe that Davie05061023 on the YouChoob could do a video.
  13. I will be all over it like a rash. I wonder if the EQ can be edited too? .. Oh and thank you Bless ya heart!
  14. I found Transcribe rather clunky and frustrating. Like Audacity, REAPER can do everything transcribe can. Reaper also has the benefits of being a full spec recording application too (DAW). So I would wholeheartedly recommend getting that. Dead easy to use! https://www.reaper.fm
  15. This could well be an option to look in to as well.
  16. Thank you so much so far. I'll add an additional fly in the ointment as the tuning will be down to A (below a 5 string B) so I guess "long scale"/+ will be the order of the day.
  17. Just running an idea by myself at the moment and in case I've missed any, do the readership know of any (outside of going custom) stock basses that have a really close 4 string bridge spacing. 16mm, 16.5mm etc?
  18. Yes, I should have said! Mine is an 89 the other is an unpainted 87.
  19. I've also just spotted that yours has similar serial to mine with the same bridge on - my other PJBS has a standard 'bent tin' bridge.
  20. I love these basses. BassChat probably knows that already. My two are customised a little and they are by far my favourite Fender PJ bass. £450 is a crazy giveaway price as the cost of say a body refinish (at a reasonable rate) will still put the bass at it's average market value. I think anyway.
  21. Hi ya! You'll be surprised, the bridge is standard - I have two PJBS basses and the first had this type of bridge too! The good news is that like for like models can be found brand new on eBay for little cash (I replaced mine)
  22. Does it ever!
  23. O.M.G.. an HD212... Lordy, Lordy, Lordy <3
  24. Visitors to BC over the years may well have seem me bang on about what I suppose is still a favourite 'tonally coloured' speaker cabinet, the Hartke 4.5XL. I've had about 6 of those 45Kg beasts over the years. Too heavy for my poor back now. Imagine my excitement when I find I can have 600 different IR's of this famous cabinet to play with on Helix and my DAW???!!!!! Could I have 'Dan's 90's Tone' back again??? Watch this space! (My back says thank you)

@SpondonBassed - You beat me to my reply - yours is a bit more concise and yes spot on. What's funny is that in terms of being coloured (in) the Hartke 4.5XL has aluminium cones and thus are shiny silver. The crayons are nice... but you know... shiny!!! (oh man. I'm a Magpie)

Which tends to be heavier?  Hartke or TE gear?

Hartke I believe are the only one out of the two that offer Neodymium in their range? So by default that would be my answer, but I think the Hartke 4.5XL is heavier than Trace's 4x10 equivalent.

  25. By responding, I fear I am bumping the post and less likely to snaffle it by the time I've one the lottery!
