1. The Dirnt I had was bloomin heavy, `14lb if I remember. I also had the Squire version at one time and it was a good bit lighter. The tuners look ok, 70`s style but I seem to recall that the neck was quite square at the body end unlike a normal P bass. That is some "hairline" crack!!
2. Ta for the info Mr Toe. The magnets are very strong. I have fitted the pickup but can only play through headphones in the house so don`t know how it sounds.
3. I bought a set of these P bass pickups. What is the script with the bar magnets? Never seen them on the outside of a pickup before. And the covers don`t fit in a Fender size pickup hole as the lugs are larger. No bigee but they will need some alteration to the pickgaurd.
4. I play in a tribute band so there is no moaning regarding the music we play and that can be a major reason for bust ups as I have found in the past. We have been together since March and seem to get along ok but none of us are friends outside the band which helps. And we all love the music, especially the drummer as he lives miles away but is happy to travel to play with us.
5. Leo said that they were the best guitars he ever made and he should know.
6. She might have the chops but that sort of playing does my head in.
7.
I think the B1on is hugely underrated. I must post a review of it at some point.
I wish you would as I bought one after reading your posts I use it as a headphone amp for silent practice just now but might stick it in front of the Mag300 and would like some pointers. And I am also umming and ahing about buying a BVT...
8. This is a good grooved bridge. I got one for my Jazz recently. http://www.wdmusic.co.uk/hardware-parts-c1/bridges-tailpieces-c2/bass-c96/bass-bridge-knurled-barrel-saddle-chrome-p4939
9.
Yep, I try to avoid the G as much as possible, and also try to play anything D upwards on the A, as it has more "beef" to it/
I agree with this. I play in an AC/DC covers band with 2 guitarists, sporting valve Marshall amps and trying to do anything subtle on the G string is a waste of time. Or Tim
10.
Nice. Looking forward to the video.
+ 1
11. The NM has a different shaped neck from a standard P bass, I think its a "slim C" shape? A much better fit for me.
12. Cool bass. Nearly bought one but I liked the neck on the Nate Mendel better. The paint job on the body looks really good in the flesh.
13. At last! Someone who is worse than me at playing the bass. That was cringeworthy.
14. Bloomin bargain!!
15. I cannot tell the difference between the two. Which is a bit scary considering the value of each bass. Or does this hammer home the point that it`s mostly in the fingers ? That moose can lay it down though
16. Got this e mail from Gear4music. If you are looking to buy an Ampeg amp, you get a free Sterling bass! http://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Ampeg-BA-210-V2-Combo-and-Free-Sterling-by-Music-Man-Sub-Ray-4-Black/1DOX?utm_source=benchmark&utm_medium=email-marketing&utm_campaign=email-250915#full-des
17. Well in theory, the Ashdown will be putting about 180 watts into the 8ohms internal speaker, so it should be louder than the Rumble. But they have different amp sections so I couldnt say for certain the Ashdown would be louder. I havent played the Fender but have used a Mag 300 head for 10 years, a lot of the time through a 15 inch speaker and it has been loud enough for me when doing large pubs, playing rock music. Also, if you add an extension speaker, say a 2x10, then the Mag will give you the full 300 watts. I run my Mag into 2, 1x12 Mi cabs and there is plenty of volume.
18. I bought the same 77 model, put it up for sale, got some lowball offers for it and decided to keep it. It is a nice change from my main P bass and I gig it sometimes and it does the job well. I have owned Fender jazz`s in the past and this is as good. Well apart from the tuners and bridge that are getting swapped for a set of Gotoh tuners and a BBOT vintage style bridge. The finish and fit on it is as good as any Mex Standard at twice the price.
19. Excellent stuff. You can get this session along with some other performances, on a dvd called Free Forever.
20. Live wire by ac/dc. We open the set with this one and never tire of playing it. Even if the drummer plays it a bit slow
21. At £600 that is a bit of a steal. I owned a few L2000 Tributes and they were good, so I imagine the US one will be tickety boo!
22.
Our drummer carries a fruit and vegetable selection - for situations such.
Now I know where I have been going wrong all these years! I have been in a similar position. I play in an ac/dc covers band and at a recent gig was asked if we would do a guys party as he said we were "fantastic!" What kind of music does he want at his party? All the popular ac/dc stuff, Angels, Summer of 69, Dakota etc.
23. What?? No Dick Parry??
24. Good program on the whole but the picture quality and the quality of the clips they show, leave a lot to be desired in this HD picture age.
