I like Noel. He is one of the few honest guys left in the music industry. Says what he thinks and doesnt give a monkeys what you or I think about it. Jazz ain`t really my bag but some of the Quincy Jones stuff is fantastic. However, I have heard the type of Jazz music that he describes in the video and he is spot on.

I used a TC 210 with a Ashdown Mag head for a year or so and it was a nice combination. I looked at the Peavey when it came out but as you say, there is very little info about them.

[/quote] Perfect for all your gigging needs if you like the Ashdown sound. Any decent cab with around 400 watts at 8 ohms will be fine.

I like the look of the SR300E with the powerspan pickups. Good variety of tones there I imagine. I have owned a few 300`s and they have all been nice. Haven`t had a 174 but did have a TRBX 304 with an active set up and handy tone switching which is a nice bass but is £70 dearer than the Ibby, so the 300 is on budget. You would be better having a blast on the both of them and see what suits you best.

If it improves the quality of the performance. I`m all for using a tablet. Does anyone watching a band really care if someone uses a tablet?

Re the speakers. I have a ABM Mini 2 x 10, British made that has 2 Celestion speakers in it and they are black After reading this thread, I`m really missing my ABM 500 Evo. Might have to look into getting one again.

They should have asked Santa for a new paragraph for Christmas.

I feel really sad for his young kids. The passing of your father at any time is bad enough but at this time of year, it is especially sad. The only good thing is at least they will be able to look back at the performances and interviews that their dad did. I always liked Rick as he seemed quite honest about his lifestyle and didn`t try to hide the way he lived his life. And what a rhythm player he was. Look at some of the clips from the Frantic 4`s last tour, he was knocking the hell out of his Tele. Rip Rockin Rick.

[/quote] I had one of the last ABM 500 evo3`s and foolishly sold it. The guy I sold it to said I was mad to sell it! How right he was!! Bought a Peavey minimax but didn`t like it. Nothing against class D stuff, just didn`t like that amp. I now have a British made ABM 2x10 compact cab that weighs 21kg and a TE head that almost weighs the same but it sounds good to me so I dont mind a bit of carrying.

To be honest, whatever product I buy with supplied screws and plugs, I bin them and use good quality items as the ones supplied by the manufacturers are usually guff. Glad to hear the bass is mostly ok as that could have been an expensive one.

Korg Pitch Black. I prefer it to the Polytune clip which tends to pick up sounds from everywhere. And I hate the look of clip on tuners at a gig. Just looks wrong to me.

I have owned Ashdown gear since 2005, various heads and cabs, have kicked their butt in various rock bands and haven`t heard the sound that you are describing. I am no doubting you by the way. Is there a BCer near you who would test your cabs through a different head to see if the head is the problem?

There are so many things wrong with this bass to make it a US Standard. Maybe the guy who is selling it bought it in it`s current guise (or disguise?) but there is no need for you to be taken in as well. If you were buying this s/hand in the UK it would be worth about £140 ish if it is in good condition.

The bridge is all wrong as well. It looks like someone has drilled some holes through a BBOT (bent bit of tin) bridge. Engage reverse gear and run in the direction of away..

I think this is a Squier Vintage Modified Jazz with a fake decal. The pics are very small. The tuners are cheap, US Jazz`s from 2010 have the truss rod adjuster at the body end but it has through body stringing which may have been done by someone after purchase.
