1. I live in Paisley, 8 miles from Glasgow and don`t want to post for 2 reasons: I had a lot of bother a while ago when I sent a bass and it went astray. Caused me no end of hassle. The other reason is that I work 6 days a week and getting stuff to a courier is a major pain, so, I advertise it locally and stick it on here in case anybody wants it and is able to collect it. If you look at the heading it say collected. So please respect my reasons for not posting. Ah, feel better now that`s off me chest! Had a look and I have a chrome pickup cover and bridge cover from my old Jap 57 re-issue that I will throw in as well. The bridge cover fits over the new style bridge but you would have to drill the holes yourselves. Will try and post a photo. It looks well tasty! Jez
2.
Hi PM'd you yesterday
Hi there. Tried to contact you via the pm but it wont allow me to reply to you for some reason. It might be something at your end as I contacted someone else who had pm`d me. Cheers for the intrest but the bass was sold via gumtree late last night. Jez
3. Fender 2009 USA P Bass standard. Black with maple neck, allparts black pickgaurd fitted, original white one included, schaller straplocks, new style case with all the tools, strap, etc included. It has been gigged since Febuary and has a very small ding on the top half of the body midway between the pickup and the bridge. I can`t even photograph it.There is no paint missing and you can only see it up close at a certain angle but I better mention it anyway. Two small scratches on the pickgaurd. It is a great bass and I always wanted one but am cutting down my collection and I prefer a Jazz so am going to go back to where I started. Collection only. £600 Jez
4. Sunday end of season bump!
5. Thanks for the replies fols, much appreciated! Jez
6. Need help quick! Buying ramorraw! Just sold a mex jazz but am missing it already. Every home should have one so am looking for one. Now here is the tricky bit. I like the white Classic 60`s bass in white with the old style headstock and tunning pegs, but it`s £635. Has anyone got one/had one? Is it worth the cash to have fender on the head or should I get the white squire cv bass at £279 which seems to be the dogs dangalies? Jez
7. Thursday afternoon bump Berk of the month story. A guy phoned up locally (it`s on gumtree) and when I explained the controls, swithches etc, he seemed a bit confused not having played for 10 years and he had a Jap Squire p bass when he was playing so was used to one tone, one volume. I happened to mention that I had a jazz I could let him play. Result: I`ve still got the G & L and he got himself a jazz for £200! I am a muppet but he was a decent guy! Jez
8.
If you were offering to post then I’d be immensely tempted by this…
Sorry dudes. Lost a bass to the mighty courier a few years back and it caused me no end of hassle. And yes I know I am shooting myself in the foot. Would meet someone halfway but I know that that`s not ideal. And yes, it is black, just my sh*tty camera! Jez
9. Very nice. Had one the same spec but the body was a weird vintage white, so used the neck and pickup for another bass and sold the body. And here is it`s US standard brother...... Jez
10. Hey andyman Are you drinking the water round that sub base? Nice bass! Nice girl! The man is right about Jimmy Moon and his work, the man`s a bit of a legend about here. Good luck with the sale Andy. Jez
11.
I have one of these and it's a helleva bass I can tell you. So have a bump on me.
Cheers for that. Price now dropped to £300.
12. As has been said, get someone to tell them straight that it just aint happening but make sure that you have a replacement lined up who you know fits playing wise, is reliable and most importantly, you can get on with the guy. We had to get rid of our rhythm player as he wasn`t doing anything basically and wouldn`t take the hints about improving his playing. He was doing the lead guitarist`s head in and rather than tell him straight, we folded the band, started back up and added a singer from a previous band and never contacted him again. It still bother`s me the way we got rid of him and if we meet him I don`t know what I/he will say as he was an alright guy. But you have to do the deed as I think that there is no point in playing in a band unless you are enjoying it. Jez
13. Saturday afternoon bump!!
14.
I can't believe the thread about Victor Wooten. He has no soul?! Have you seen the Bass Day 98 DVD? Have you listened to all of his albums? Or have you just watched the Youtube clips where he's 'shredding'? This kind of narrow-minded opinion seems typical of some of the members of this forum. This is a guy who was in a band supporting the likes of Curtis Mayfield when he was 6 years old. What were you doing at that age? Playing with toys, I imagine. He has the most awesome slap technique on the planet, so why not show it off once in a while? What do you want him to do at a trade show or clinic...play some rock and roll basslines?
Aged 6? Playing doctors and nurses. Whoopee!! Remember, it`s a forum, we don`t all like the same players, we all have different opinions, that`s the beauty of it. For me Pete Way from UFO is the one true bass God!!! God! Jez
15.
£320 seems a very reasonable price. Good luck with the sale.
Cheers for that man. Jez
16.
Is this the same trib that was on gumtree a couple of months ago?
Aye Boab. I was selling then I wasn`t but it`s definatley going this time. Lower price this time as well. Jez
17. L2000 Tribute for sale. Paid £560 for it late last year. Looking for £290. Will throw in a fender gigbag. The only reason for selling this bass is due to buying a new US P bass. Having said that, the P bass is about to be punted as I`m going back to a Jazz! Good condition, only a few light scratches on the rear of the body. Great range of sounds as stated on this site before. Only thing is I wont post it. I know that will narrow down the potential buyers but so be it. I am in Paisley 8 miles from Glasgow but if you are intrested give me a shout and we can mabye work something out. Jez
18.
My 2004 S1 Jazz with maple board:
Man, that is one mean mother of a bass! Jez
19. Played a gig in a pub in Gourock ( on the Clyde coast) last night, first time there, £150 between four. Worked out at £30 each and 30 in kitty for drinks as it was costing us a fortune for rounds. Will ask for more money next time as we were asked to come back (must be something wrong with their hearing!). Up here most pubs pay from around £150 to £280. No doubt some guys get more but hey, I`d do it for nothing if it gets me out playing. Jez
20.
He's been running the Jan Akkerman Band for a few years now. As I understand it, there was a bit of a falling out!!!
Great band. Jan left in 76 on the eve of a british tour as him and Thjis fell out about the direction of the band. Jan liked to change the way things were played most nights and felt that the band was becoming stale. Saw Jan at the Renfrew Ferry round about 2002 and the guy was fantastic. Jez
21. Four hours to set up! That`s taking the p**s. I`m in a 4 piece and I like to allow 1 hour to set up. This equates to:30 mins to set up and the rest of the time to stand with the guitarist and singer asking ourselves when will the bloomin drummer turn up. As for a sound check? That`s usually the first song (usually a snow patrol number that the singer likes to start with) and getting someone who comes with us to tell me what needs to go up or down. Strangley they always tell me to turn the bass down. Bloomin phillistines. Jez
22.
There's an epi explorer bass for sale on edinburgh gumtree, not sure if it's cheap or not... link Never played one, don't know what to expect And by the way, first post :-)
That bass is on the Glasgow gumtree today and he was looking for £200 a couple of weeks ago but has droped the price to £150 now. Jez
23. I recently stuck a badass2 on my Jap 57 re-issue and to tell the truth dont notice much differance. Having said that, some people swear by them. And it cost me £60. There was a thread on this subject a few weeks ago. Go for the Geddy Lee, brilliant Jap bass. Jez

Competence

First thing I could play all the way through was down down by the Quo! It took me about 6 weeks! I reckon I will be competent a fortnight next Julember. There again I hate practicing. The only reason I`ve not been kicked out my band for "lapses" is I own most of the pa and am the only one who can work the thing! Good tip that for guys just starting out! Jez
25. Well done, good choice. You will enjoy it better than than the Jag! Jez
