1. I'm wondering if anyone, with far better knowledge than me, can offer any guidance on the electronics in an Ibanez Bass. I've read great things about the new PowerSpan pickups in some of the lower models, but not so much love for the power tap switch. Meanwhile the models above have a very handy 3-way mid frequency switch. Would the electronics out of an SR500E be compatible with the PowerSpan pickups in the lower models? Or is it just a silly idea? I know the lower models only have the one switch mounted on the body, but it's hardly difficult to drill a new hole for another switch. So I guess a follow up question to that would be, could it be possible to use the SR500E electronics, but also incorporate the power tap switch in the signal path? Also, does anyone know if you can replace an Accu-cast B300 bridge with a B500? Is it the same size? So just a simple case of removing the strings, unscrewing the B300, screwing in the B500, installing the strings and checking the setup? Or would it not be that simple?
2. Does anyone know if there are any size differences between the Ibanez Accu-cast B120, B300 and B500 bridges? I guess what I am really asking is, could I easily change one out for another? As an example: is it just a case of removing the strings, unscrewing a B300, screwing in a B500, insert the strings and double check the setup?
3. Maybe I'll take it in to a charity shop then.
4. They are superb. I've been using them under my M&K Home Cinema Subwoofers for about 4 years now.
5.
not worth a lot, they'd switched production to Korea by then, the earlier Jap ones are quite good with Dimarzio p/ups fitted, there's a wikipedia page all about them http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hondo_(guitar_company)
Thanks for the link. It was bought 2nd hand. I would imagine it would have been at least a few years old when I got it.
6. I have a Hondo II bass which was bought for me back in the 80's (roughly 1987) and I am wondering if it is any good and if it's worth anything at all? I'll have to take some photos, but I wondered if anyone could tell me anything about it from the model? In all honesty it's not really in great condition, but a lot of people like relics!!
7. Unfortunately (and I know I'll regret it) I am forced to sell this as I need the money. 5pc SR4 Maple/Bubinga Prestige Thru-Neck (34" Scale) Mahogany Body with Walnut Top MR-4 Bridge with 19" String Spacing Bartolini Custom Neck Pickups Bartolini Custom Bridge Pickups Vari-Mid III HQ 3-Band EQ Other than testing it when I got it (to make sure it was working fine) the bass has been in it's case ever since. It's in fairly good condition. The main things to mention are a broken catch on the battery compartment, the truss rod cover on the head stock is missing and a fairly major scratch on the back of it, which is about 2 inches long. The flight case also shows signs of use, but was obviously built to last. The original strings were replaced (by the previous owner) with some that are more heavy gauge, but I am not sure what they are exactly. I can email photos if required.
8. Anyone interested at £90 each or £170 for the pair including insured delivery?
9.
Sorry mate, he only has one bass drum and needs double bass pedals
No worries at all. I appreciate you asking him though. Thanks very much.
10.
The mid-frequency control is a frequency sweep, you can select the centre frequency which you cut and boost, very handy. Turn it anti-clockwise to head towards low mids and clockwise to change the upper mids.
Ahhh, I see. Thanks for that.
11. Basses with the Vari-Mid 3 band EQ have a "Mid Boost/Cut" control and a "Mid Frequency" control. Can someone possibly tell me what the Mid Frequency control is for please?
12.
It's a shame this isn't nearer Christmas, I know my drummer is looking for new pedals around then. I'll still let him know Lewis
Thanks Lewis. Christmas isn't so far off. I actually have 2 single pedals. I thought about keeping one, but may as well sell both of them if someone is interested.
13. Are you all going to make me join a drum forum just to try and sell these? I am open to negotiation on the price, if that helps.
