1. What a bunch of dicks!
2. That`s great Mike but I am on the waiting list to go on Mark D Phillips, guitar improver/master bodger, guitar course.
3.
I've been asked how much my bass cost, but no-one's offered to buy it.
Will you take £14.50? Just askin
4. Raygun?? He wants to turn it on himself and do the decent thing! One of the biggest piles of crap I have been unfortunate to look at.
5. Bargain of the week!
6.
Would a 74 Jazz have a bullet trussrod anyway? I thought they were quite a bit more recent than that, so the description is wrong but if it was right, the truss rod wouldn't be right for the period.
There was a few versions of the Jazz around the 74-75 ish period, some with the 3 bolt and bullet truss rod and some with 4 bolt necks. Bit of a transition period you might say. But the sunburst on this looks like a cheap 70`s Jap copy.
7. Don`t know if anyone has posted this yet, if not well worth a looky! http://www.ebay.com/itm/JACO-PASTORIUS-JAZZ-BASS-1975-FENDER-FRETLESS-ORIGINAL-/151031567068? The description and questions and answers are "intresting"
8.
honestly... as if you are supple enough to get your leg on the mantlepiece!! This post means nothing without photos
NO!! Think of the children!
9. If some people think this place is bad, the Status Quo forum on the bands official site was closed recently due to all the abuse that was being directed towards the band. I think that the mods should give Discreet a position, something like Moderator of Silliness and when a thread gets too heavy, who you gonna call.....
10. Man up and rip the frets out if you dont need the cash from a sale. It might send you down a different road....And is dead easy to do. After all, it`s only a Rockbass, what have you got to lose
11. Musicians without transport? Pain in the bloomin ar*e!!! This should be one of the unwritten rules of being in a band.
12. He`s got a blooming cheek wanting to charge extra for the wardrobe, I mean case.
13. Old budget stuff and not too fantastic. Were around before you could buy decent quality budget basses. I had an accoustic Kay guitar yonks ago and it was dreadful. Put me off the accoustic for life.
14. Naw, you have to keep going and try and get it back together. And once the song if finished, have a laugh about it
15. I find the other bodies for the band apart from the drummer who I started the band with. And finding band mates via Gumtree and all the rest is bloomin stressful. Luckily the singer and drummer have lots of contacts and are facebook savy so I can leave it up to them now and kick back.
16. Talanted man or not he is one of the grumpiest gits I have ever come across. If you watch the story of Cream, he has the right hump with Jack Bruce and Pete Brown as they have made more money out of Cream than him. They wrote the songs Ging!!!
17. If the rumours above are correct, or sometimes even wrong, what tends to happen is suppliers start to get jittery and it becomes unstoppable. I imagine if people on here are aware of something going on, then the rest of the biz will be aware of it also.
18.
It's just like... he's your mate? You know, Dave, not Dave off the tele?
You`ll rip your tights ya know
19. Here is a pic of my Mustang bass bridge. I have returned it to the shop due to it being out of line. What do you Mustang owners think?
20.
According to Google translate, 'cabron' is Spanish for 'asshole.' So presumably 'cabronita' means 'asshole-eater.'
Where is McNach when you need him He is the man for this Spanish translation lark.
21.
There was a thread on here recently on the subject of isolated bass tracks. Some highly respected pros sounded awful! Like Mr X says, it's what it sounds like in the band context that really counts
Didn`t someone post one of Geddys isolated bass tracks and it wasn`t the spot on bass part that most of us think it is? I think that most of us at sometime hear the clunkers we play but as has been said, in the live setting, it all sounds right.
22. Don`t worry about it. I have bought 3 Thunderbirds when I know I just don`t get on with them. Out of interest, what were you playing before and how were they comfort wise?
23. If the pickup is the original (it looks the same as the pickup that was in my Thunder) it is easily one of the best sounding P pickups I have heard. And Mike is a top guy to deal with.
24. I would go with the Yam over the P bass. I like P basses but they can be a bit iffy QC wise sometimes and with your budget a BB could be a better bet. The P pickup is good and you also get the added bonus of a Jazz pickup as well. And before the Fender lovers dive in, I own a P bass and have done for years. I just reckon at the price point the Yam is much better value.
25. Here is a link to Gak. Good prices. http://www.gak.co.uk...-bass-twh/81954 http://www.gak.co.uk/en/yamaha-trbx304-4-string-bass-bk/81930
