    I find Zoom pedals to be finicky. I think Rushbo may be right, and you should give it a good 500mA right up the jacksy.

    Does it have an FX loop? Jumpering that, or cleaning the contacts in the sockets may improve matters.

    My MarkBass combo drives effects very hard in the loop, causing distortion with some FX, even when jumpered internally to parallel. I reverted to using them in front.

    Yep, but I see the Ray 34's don't have the body carves. Do you know how they feel to play? I must say, the EBMM/SBMM/ Sterling nomenclature is really confusing!
