    Hi there @bloke_zero, Just wondering what you don't like about the neck profile? I take it you find it a bit slim or shallow, and prefer a chunkier or wider neck? What's the width at the nut? Sorry, that's several questions! lol It's a lovely looking bass

    Mine too. I was fortunate to get a couple of lessons with Paul (free lessons too!) who showed me some of the bits I couldn't work out on bass lines like "Therapy" and "Dr Jeckyll & Mr Hyde". He was just so great to me & my bandmate (who was also a huge Damned fan). We cheekily just turned up on his doorstep and asked him the favour - he invited us back, and it was what spurred the young me on, at the time. Sitting there, playing the bright Yellow Rick that he played on OGWT and the Black album, with one of my fave players, who was one of the nicest guys I ever met... I've met Paul several times in recent years. Saw him with the Damned again, after all these years - and he's still an amazing player. Part of the best line up of the Damned ever Not a Rick player myself - but the sound he got live and on the Black Album and Strawberries was superb

    Nice one @PawelG I also quite enjoyed the song. Good video too I think it's good to step outside your usual genre / comfort zone now & again. IMO, it "tests" you, and helps you broaden you skills in playing and listening Nice memento of your playing too. Thanks for sharing - I'll watch it again later

    If I could wind the clock back, I'd wind it even further and take up bass sooner in life, and I'd probably have played more guitar too Also, I would have kept playing all those 25 years where I "gave up" playing - and just kept my hand in Then again, I'd probably only go back to last week.... with this weeks' lottery numbers

    Yes, they are easy to fit - being solderless pre-assembled units. But Kiogon also uses top quality components, and he's a helpful sort too - always willing to answer questions, even if he's not actually selling you anything To the OP. I fitted one of his stack control wiring units to my Roadworn Jazz a little while back, and it's great - I like the added flexibility it gives over standard V V T Nice looking Jazz you have there BTW. Gotta love Block & bound necks, especially on a Jazz

    I've met some musicians via on-line methods - Facebook groups etc But I've met far more, just by doing open mic nights, and a local "Folk" club I put Folk in inverted commas, because it's not absolutely 100% that genre, just mainly acoustic generally I found going along to open mics and a couple of clubs, I've met people who always seem to know of someone needing a bassist, or drummer, or guitarist Doesn't always lead anywhere instantly - but word seems to get around as to who is looking to form a band, or who might need a musician or a dep player This has worked for me anyway....

    Just a note to say, I have now put this bass up for sale in a shop not far from me (If you're anywhere nearby, and want to try this bass anytime - just drop me a PM and I'll let you have details of the shop, as I'm not sure whether it's against forum rules to "advertise" a shop?). Obviously, it'll be more expensive in the shop, as they need to take some commission. Anyhow, I hope I'm not now tempted to fill the space left by this bass.... with anything else! lol

    Really interesting looking EUB. Wish you lived closer - so I could nip around for a try..... Don't know if anyone else on here has one of these? But they appear to be very "natural" acoustic-sounding instruments.

    Hi @marvin spangles, Did both these sets sell? I'm just wondering what the tension is like on these - are they lower tension, due to the rope core? Do you know if they compare, tension-wise with any other strings (like Spirocore Weichs, for instance)?

    Yes, as itu says above - try a few out. That's always the best way to start. Make a list of pros & cons, and things you really need from the new bass But of course, you don't necessarily "need" a new bass - can't you get the sounds you want from your current set up? I've got a nice Yammy 5 string for sale on here, with a real wide range of tones. Don't know if you're anywhere near South Wales? you're welcome to pop in & give it a whirl best of luck with the new band - I think it's great to step outside your "norm" or your comfort zone, and try something different and challenging

    I quit playing a long time ago, and had a break of almost 25 years However, I'm back now, and loving it - despite all the usual set backs My biggest regret ever, was giving up all those years ago! I really feel like I wish I'd persisted back then, and often wonder just how much better I'd be now Yes, we all have huge set-backs, rows, bands splitting, dealing with difficult punters and landlords, problems with health (self and others) but my advice would be stick with it - you may end up really regretting it if you give up.... just like I did have a short break if you feel you need it. Re-assess your situation, play with some different musicians - go to a couple of jam sessions, and just do it for fun But, Don't quit, don't quit and don't quit, and finally, whatever you do - Don't quit! Best of luck finding your solution

    Though I'm a fan of TI flats (on the right bass, of course) I found TI rounds even lower tension, and I just couldn't get on with them at all For my playing, there was little or no "resistance" and "recovery" of normal string position was off-putting - at least for my playing So I've a set going, if anyone wants to try them.... I tried them on a couple of basses, but just didn't gel with them at all Not sure what the quietest rounds I've played are, but I seem to remember playing some strings (which may have been "Elites") which were quiet - but I've a feeling they were not nickel, and may have been chrome?

    The one I owned (and foolishly parted with) must have been from this series. The neck wasn't a chunky P neck It was slimmer and slightly narrower than many P bass necks. I found it very comfy to play, and possibly the nicest US Precision I'd ever got my hands on. This one does look good, with the maple board

    The Vintage Modified Squier range are really good, and this is a great bass for the money. I had the P/J version of the bass myself, and it was a great player & good sounding bass for the money - though mine wasn't as nice a colour as yours! Great bang for the buck! GLWTS

    These are cracking basses. I had one myself, and just couldn't keep it - as there were too many items in my "wanted" list (aren't there always? lol) Superb build quality, great worn-in feel, super comfy to play, and nice & lightweight too GLWTS

    Just adding a couple of pics, to show the neck width, at the nut and at 12th fret. Bear in mind though, the ruler is on top of the strings - I think the measurement is very slightly less than it may appear on these photos. (Using a slim, clear ruler which I could get under the strings - it appeared to be just a smidge over 41mm at the nut, and just under 63mm at the 12th)
