  1. That’s a good point. I noticed on a Talkbass thread that people share their patches, I wonder then if there is a way to save them? I’m not very techy. The answer may be buried in these 65 pages (which also has some guys taking about shifting patches issues at gigs) https://www.talkbass.com/threads/line-6-hx-stomp.1367068/ They do sound nice in the online vids. I guess my only concern is that I play through headphones so everything is so much more excentuated. I bet they sounds awesome at volume with a band.
  2. Oh bugger... I might be getting kicked out of the 2019 gear abstinence challenge For me it’s all about issues with the size of my current pedalboard and just like @RnRDave said, it’s the first multi fx that has me curious and I’d have a fair bit of change left over - which woud be quite handy at the moment. Think I’ll try one out soon, could go either way to be fair. Either I feel the ‘digital aftertaste’ that I always picked up on in the past, or I realise that it’s just too silly not to downsize and cash in.
  3. And so the hunt begins
  4. No, it’s this Crimson Red one, with the 30th logo on the head
  5. It’s a 30th Anniversary model, with a mahogany body, lovely basses
  6. Can anyone shed any light about the quality of the effects in this please? I’m wondering how they stand up against high quality separates like OD, Envelope Filter, Octave. Past experience tells me that DSP FX are usually quantity over quality and far from the quality of separates. but perhaps things have moved on and they are getting closer? (I don’t expect them to be as good, but I could be wrong...). Cheers
  7. I met Norman back on 2007 in a guitar shop I was working in. He bought in his Jazz and Precison and we sat and chatted while I had them plugged in (and drooling). He said his late wife bought him the Precison in the early days and that it is his most special bass, he calls it the Rythmn Stick. The Precison is outrageously good, with a killer neck, super worn in. He bought the Jazz after, saying he prefered the neck for gigs, but it wasn’t as sentimental to him. We took the Jazz apart to check it out and he seemed really chuffed to find out more about it. Top bloke.
  8. Never thought a P Bass would make you break the fast....
  9. Black was still a custom colour back then, so they are not so common. Lovely bass... Angel Music was my favourite honest vintage shop. James was a co-owner and knows a good guitar when he sees it, I’m sure this one is a beauty, especially at that weight. I’m currently P-less which is odd, but on the abstinence challenge, so unfortunately I’ll leave the joy of owning this one to someone else!
  10. As Mr Krow says, at least there will be some style in your exit, can’t fault that. I’m enjoying the challenge, as of last week I’m 6 months into this and have one less bass than when I started. Can’t work out if I’m sensibly content with what I have, or just plain old sadistic...
  11. I definitely think so, I’ve played many CS Basses (inc Pino’s) that are average. The rest are outstanding, which is what you’d expect from a CS Fender.
  12. Mark is a good pal of mine, 110% trustworthy and a great seller. More importantly, I know this bass and it’s one of the good ones. Great price too
  13. But the 1997 Flea’s didn’t even have a truss rod! But seriously, I’ve owned both and the Modulus Flea is an exceptional bass, but quite different to a Ray IMHO. Though I totally get why some folk would prefer it, they are that good for those who get on with them, and like composite necks.
  14. So with those going out in style, who’s left?
  15. I guess I’m lucky enough to have owned (and sold) all I wanted to, and have now come full circle back to Music Mans as my main pick! Edit - I meant to say ‘buying basses’ in my other post!!!
  16. For me it’s now. The Specials are outstanding, as is my 2016 Old Smoothie. My previous 2015 3 bend was a killer too. I’ve also owned a 86 and 94, which were good, but not as good as my others. Could just be luck of the draw.
  17. I sold my beloved 66 P Bass this week. My wife needing a new car was the catalyst, but the high value of the bass always bothered me anyway. Still a shame to let it go, but not a biggie in the grand scheme of things. The upside here is that buying a cheaper P Bass isn’t even on the radar, especially for this year. And I’m so tired of buying basses... who’d have thought?!!
  18. That’s great, glad it worked out. They break in really nicely and if they feel a tad sticky right now it’ll wear off.
  19. I find the 58’s to be nice and bright basses, so maybe an overwound pickup will help you make it darker. Lindy Fralin do 5% and 10% overwound pups. The more over you go, the more dark mids and volume you get. Or just get a 60’s P Bass....
  20. That’s asking alot for a refinish too...
  21. It wouldn’t be un-Fender like to not be strict on parts used, as it’s still early days. This shows it’s not far off http://www.guitarhq.com/fender.html#serial
  22. Saw the photo and thought it was from the next Star Wars movie.
  23. Did you need 10 Rays? Did you want them? Did you regret them? (Answers: No - Yes - No).
