1. have to be careful with changing to flats with a like for like gauge, with jazz type basses with a slim neck and possibly weaker truss rod(not in the first flush of youth !) you will end up with way too much neck relief and maybe at the end of your adjustment on the truss rod......so think on !! I would go for as flexible string as i could find.
2. Just for info, i played through a 112 ext and it was combi speakon.....ie jack and speakon
3. I have heard the dimarzio dp 123 is a good full sounding pickup in the bridge position and also humcancelling.
4. superb job.....i like the polished super glue!
5. Hi could drop it off in ncle..... Mark
6. Cheers Merton, seems to be a certain lull at the moment...holiday time maybe!
7. Thanks guys.
8. Bump......cheers for kind words, yes, it is a cracking bass
9. Up for sale is my(1997) Status Shark 5 string. I bought this bass new with the intention of modifying it which I did. Firstly I took the bass to the Overwater guitar company who fitted a Bartolini humbucker pick up with coil-tap switch along with a Bartolini TCT tone circuit, treble mid and bass, cut and boost. The pick up wasn't as wide as the original so Overwater made a custom pick guard to fit.....bass weighs 8.8 pounds. After a certain length of time I decided to have the bass made fretless. Luthier, Nigel Stockbridge, from Richmond, North Yorkshire removed the frets. The bass has recently had some pots renewed and set up by Twincam (Aidan) of this very parish. Bass is in excellent condition and plays exceedingly well with plenty of mwah lol......possible trades Would prefer collection but if buyer wants to arrange their own courier I can package well.
10. Up for sale is my early 90s made in japan bass collection jz-4.These retailed in the bass centre for £799 for the 4 string and £899 for the 5 string I can't over-state the build quality of this bass!....superb! and quite a rarity!! Two-piece ash body.....maple neck with beautiful ebony fingerboard....gold plated schaller machine heads and high mass bridge Bartolini pickups......Originally the bass was active, but now is passive..(this is how i bought it!)..I was going to install a good pre-amp, think j-retro,glock etc but i probably won't get round to it. The bass is in excellent condition and looks great in trans-red. The bass has a nice action and weight-wise comes in at 9.6 pounds. I would prefer collection but if the buyer wants to arrange their own courier I could package bass well in hard case........possible trades.
11. Hi folks, I am after a clear scratch plate for my 75 re-issue jazz(usa) I don't want to have to trim this and file that and want the holes to line up!....can anybody point me in the right direction? Cheers me dears.
12. Lovely bass, and yes Aidan(twincam) does a cracking fret dress and polish!!
13. A lot of basses now are built using white ash which tends to weigh more than alder and swamp ash! having said that, the white ash lends its self to better sustain and tone, certainly in the lower mids. Roger Sadowsky is chambering the bodies on his us line because of the weight issue with timber.
14. you could buy a suitable bridge...string spacing etc, then go to a local engineering firm and get them to machine the bridge or marry it to a new base plate.....just a thought!!
15. heard this rig at a gig and it sounded amazing....really punchy and cut through the mix well !
16. Very nice, some what of a bargain me thinks!!
17. The DB 751 is, without doubt one of the best sounding amps available, i tried one in guitarguitar in Newcastle and was blown away by the tone....this can't be said for the many class D amps being used at the moment.
