  6. cheers for the advice folks, some food for thought!........being as i quite like the markbass lm2, would the little mark ninja 1000 be a possibity?
  7. Looking for a new amp!....in the past i have had a trace elliot ah 300 (the heavy backlit one)...super clean sound but could have been a little louder.......genz benz streamliner 900...nice polite tone, but again for me, lacked guts......now, a little mark 2, which i am fairly happy with but i would like more control and heft( there, i said it)...... I would not be adverse to an amp around the 20lb mark, eg gk rb 1001 etc.....as there is a wide choice, i need your advice. what about the aguilar ag 700, genzler magellan 800 mesa subway ??
  8. Mmm,......do i really need two kidney's !
  9. Cheers Chris, i think i'll need it ... haha....i refuse to do it all myself !! ps hope you and Maggie are well
  10. We are a collective who play 60s music once a month on the second thursday at tudhoe victory club, just for the love of it !!.....we rehearse every monday night again in the tudhoe victory club. All backline is provided, so you only need your bass....age and gender unimportant although being able to read from chord symbols would be an advantage as we change the set list each month. The show night is always well attended and a good night. you would be sharing the duties with myself......so, if you have played bass in the passed and fancy dusting it off, please get in touch and we can have a chat......Mark 0796 776 0204
  11. 8.9 lbs for a stingray!!......very light
  12. The new trace elliot 208 cab uses the same drivers!....may be an option?
  13. I have tried these basses, and very good they are!.....great build, great hardware and sound really good
  14. I like the fact, that you can adjust the bass and treble voicing.
  15. Great cab !......and being a series 1, weighs in at 59 lbs....also cab uses B&C drivers from italy.
  16. I recently bought a genz benz 212 cab from Nik, even though the poor cab suffered at the hands of UPS ( broken castor and tweeter not working).....this was not down to Nik's packing !!....Anyway Nik was good enough to pay for a pair of new castors and i fixed the tweeter with two bulb fuses and all is fine and dandy Nik is an absolute gent and a diamond geezer and i certainly would deal again.....Highly recommended. Cheers Nik, All the best.
  17. defo go with an smx head as the dual compressor is great, 250 trace watts = 500 class D
  18. Bought my musicman stingray new in 1979 and still here...all be it, pretty road worn !
  19. A very nice bass indeed!!.....the very few in this country were sold by the fore-runner of guitarguitar in newcastle (the name escapes me!)
  20. Just received some strings from Jon, just the ticket!....good comms and top geezer.
  21. Cheers for the comments folks!........any others?...how does a pair of ext's or mnt's compare to a reasonable 410 etc I would be using cabs with a markbass LM 2 and markbass SD 800.
  22. Great cab....series 1 were fitted with B&C drivers, the later series 2 fitted with eminence deltalites.....both great cabs!
  23. Just wondering if there is any real world advantage to going for the higher spec mnt over the lesser ext?....it seems to me the ext's used as a pair could handle most gigs, i would assume the 212 mnt is the same but in one cabinet!...and from what i have read, never seem to be found wanting.
  24. I tend to favour front ported cabs!...but wondered if front ported cabs project better, and would this be beneficial to what the audience would hear, or does it make little difference?
