1. I concur. The Badass II does sit slightly higher on the basses I've used them on, and ignorning the Aerodyne which is a special case, it's presented no problems as it still goes far below what you'd choose for a low action. Even more so if you file the saddles like you're supposed to.
2. Personally, after using a Badass II and while loving the extra sound and added mass, I'd plump for the Gotoh 201 if I was going to upgrade another bass. Cheaper, more readily available and does the exact same job.
3. [s]Does the 2eq not do cut then? I wasn't aware it was a boost only preamp.[/s] You learn something new everyday. Apparently it's bass boost with treble boost and cut (but with no center indent). too nice to gig

*Too You're referring to what I call the first big ding conundrum. Before you get that ding you're aware it'll take a big chunk of the value of the instrument, so you don't take it out to get dinged. After you get the ding it's a case of "sod it, it's damaged now, more won't make any difference" so you go out and use it.
5.
While I'd agree that this is a well-crafted, well-constructed & produced piece of music - and it is a rare skill to be able to write music of this type - it does not touch me or move me on any level. There is a specifically targeted market demographic for this type of product, and I am not it. Jon.
+1 The music is alright, not a style I like, but alright. The lyrics are gash though in my view.
6. Quite a few on in Finnbass iirc after getting hacked off on here.
7. Someone on here has the Lightwave system on a bass iirc, might be BigRedX. Bonza!: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...ost&p=68770
8. You know that getting a lighter bass is only going alleviate some of the symptoms don't you, rather than actually cure the problem?

10.
Guys, The website is back, I have just mailed them to see if they are still trading... Steve.
Should be. http://www.guitaremporium.co.uk/ Malcom has put some posts around this forum regarding what was happening, the jist of it is that he's been forced from stocking instruments to basically being a middleman. Ask for a guitar and he'll source one for you. Still one of the best ways to get one of the Jap non export models short of going there yourself.
11. Lots of history, and the powers that be on here don't like it mentioned due to some personal feelings between them and the owner (and other members). Do a search on Offtopic if you want more information, be forewarned it's a bit of a sh*tstorm in some of the threads.
12. I think someone is far too picky for what is still a budget bass, and possibly has technique issues. Hitting the pole peices. Really now. Although, saying that, it could be a symptom of the mentioned shoddy soldering and a be a grounding issue caused by dry joints.
13. He's clearly a little bit ignorant/stupid. However, if you take advantage of that, you could get a pretty decent bass for cheap, might be ideal as a backup for some people.
14. Bugger, that's not helping my guitar GAS.
15. I have to ask, since '08 have Fender employed someone who's really clued up about instruments? We're starting to see lots of improvement from Fender, first we had the revamped '08 onwards MIA Standards which as pretty much everyone has noted, have been the best basses they've made since Fender were small in the 60's, now we're starting to see some quite good advertising along with updated product ranges. I really reckon they must have found someone to kick them into gear.
16. Quality basses start around the £250 mark for new ones. Notably the Squier CV and VM series basses are representative of this, but quite a number of other brands like Yamaha and Ibanez actually try and succeed at producing good instruments all over the price range, rather than doing what some of the bigger names do with their "budget" brands and cull not only the features, but overall quality as well. Obviously it depends on how you percieve quality, I err towards care and attention given to it at construction and finishing over things like flashy woods and better hardware. Plus if you buy a cheaper one, it might only need say a pup upgrade to make it surpass anything else if it's already a good player. Don't be fooled into thinking that just because it costs more it's going to be better, I'd dare say that some of the luthier custom builds from the likes of Shuker and co would probably be of a higher quality than some of the more off the shelf basses that exist in their price bracket.
17. "changed the cathode resistors on the input for LEDs" Do LED's offer enough resistance? Seems really unusual to swap out resistors for LED's considering LED's themselves need resistors to stop them burning themselves out, although obviously they can be used to replace normal diodes. Either way, that recorder looks partly like a work of art, partly like a bugger to work with, nice to see something being repurposed though.
18. Complete side note but you need to buy a soldering iron stand Even the 4.99 one from maplins is better than resting it on a tool box.
19. Er, you blew up a speaker? I'd be more worried about the cause of that first, as that's normally down to driving it far too hard.
20. Just to point that that the UK has very stable grid voltage, on the pure conditioner side you'll get little to no use from it in the UK. The other features sound nice though. RCD lead is a must though.
21. I think it's a combination of factors outside of bass playing (or any instrument playing) which makes you lean either towards the right or the left. I write left handed, and for all but tasks that require lots of fine control (ie, soldering, wiping my bum, jewellers screwdrivers etc) I'm capable with using the right and often use it in preference, examples are computer mice, joysticks, mobile phones, scissors (although, if I need really fine I'll go left), etc... I can just about write right handed, although the quality looks to be on par with your average 8 year old and I have to think about how I'm going to draw the characters, but that would be improved with practice. However, when picking up bass/guitar etc it feels natural for me to play right handed. I think that may be to do with playing the trumpet for a bit before hand, which is technically a right handed instrument, so I'd exercised my plucking hand alongside using my left for other tasks rather than it falling by the way side.
