1.
that's it I have found my reception band....cross dressing bassist with pink bunny violin maestro I don't think I have ever heard a bass/violin/piano combo before, seems to work though don't go past 3.30 if you value your sanity
That's actually quite a good rendition of that song. Not as good as the slightly 80's feeling original but good nonetheless. I might have to go off and rewatch that series now actually. You're right about the 3:30 onwards though, how unusual.

He was a top bloke and he will be missed. Rest in peace chap.
3. Smells fishy to me if I'm honest.
4. I still don't understand why bass strings are so expensive though, I can't imagine the extra metal and time used to create them equates to the massive price differences from normal guitar strings.
5. You know that amps arn't really responsible for how loud the end result is, and that it's really more down to how sensitive your speakers are yeah? Just sayin'.
6. It's a great song with a fairly nice bassline, and it doesn't really matter what the line was made on as long as it's reproducible on bass.
7. Neck dive on the Epi's? Tada: http://www.lysator.liu.se/~wizkid/music/thunderbird_mod/ I'm surprised that's not been mentioned already tbh, the neck dive comments appear on every T-Bird thread and this is the sure fire way to fix it on the Epi bolt on's.
8. I really enjoyed that, fairly different to the original, but a good different.
9. Haha, the ultimate Jazz beret: http://www.hatsandcaps.co.uk/Kangol-Pebble...-Beret-P150912/
10. @bubinga5: If you're an electrician you should perhaps reread what I've stated, apply some of your knowledge about the construction processes of electrical components and realise I've said that the majority of components will be fine once dried out instead of skimming my post and then trying to imply I'm an idiot. Kthxbai.
11. What the chuff are you lot on about? The only things that will possibly be damaged is the finish (due to possible swelling of wood if water soaks in) and some steel components if you didn't dry them afterwards. The electronics for the most part would be perfectly fine once dried out. Actives even more so considering they're often PCB based, ergo, plastic covered copper tracks. Solder doesn't rust either with it being mostly tin and having no iron content. The magnets and screws may rust, but the actual pickup windings will be perfectly fine due to being enamelled copper wiring. Splashing a bucket of water on a bass isn't like you're dropping it in a pool, it's really only going to be a little bit of water which hangs around the bass, most will splash off or roll off rather sharpish. Go for it. Just dry it out fairly promptly.
12. Crikey, for that money you could by a proper Gibson USA *new* Grabber II: http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-G...abber-Bass.aspx Which I'd quite like.
13. If it's got to be one I already own, then it's going to be my (soon possibly up for sale) MIJ Non-Export Aerodyne: That's a picture from when it was new, 4 or 5 years ago, if you look closely it's got the plastic film on the pickguard in the picture. It's not really changed as I've kept it mint. Although a small dent in the paintwork is present on the bottom edge from when I accidently knocked it against that wooden chair in the background. That chair has now gone. I've also got a different sofa.
What do you consider to be the best valve head?
Really? You're asking that question to a load of musicians? It's akin to asking "Which is better, precision or jazz bass?", any answers you get from a question with that wide a scope are going to be entirely subjective. I expect some people will say Trace V4/V6/V8's, others Marshall VBA's, perhaps some will say Orange AD200's, a couple might say DHA..... Get my jist? Really you need to start asking about specific things you want such as tone, ease of overdrive, construction quality, power outputs, weight etc if you want relevent answers.
15. This was raised a while ago in an offtopic thread by paul_h: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...;hl=attachments We never got an answer and I'm curious because I couldn't figure it out last time either
16.
Really stuck as I have used the uploader loads of times and it's been fine with how I've done my photos... Attachment space used 100MB of 100MB and a red cross.
I've re-ordered your post because you answered your own question. You've used it a lot and you've uploaded up to the 100mb limit. What you need to do now is go to My Controls (near the top), when that page loads, look down the left for "Manage My Attachments". You'll want to delete some of the older ones to free up space. Simple.
17.
Cut it the lines still need to do the edges.
Wayne, some advice for cutting the lines and edges in future: Re-mask up. There's a couple of bits there where you've touched up with the white enamel and gone slightly into the red, I've found that if you mask off the opposite colour (ie, in this guitar, you'd mask off the red areas) when you touch up, you stand a much better chance of keeping a fine edge. Food for thought and it's only a fine finishing detail, you sure as hell won't see it if you're looking up towards a stage. Nice striking design, and I do rather like painted headstock

19. It's all about the CSS.
20. Actually, that was quite a good slap solo. That's something I don't say lightly as I'm really not a slap fan.
21. Yeap. And for proof, Fender's 62 Reissue as currently sold: http://www.fender.com/uk/products/search.p...rtno=0190209800
22. You say refin like it's a bad word, it isn't. Looks as good as a bog standard P-bass ever could.
23. Do a search, lots of threads on boiling strings. The alternate version as geoffbyrne pointed out which doesn't involve heat is to soak the strings in meths for a bit. Get's rid of the crap without heating up (therefore expanding) the strings and also doesn't involve water, which is a good thing considering strings are mostly steel.
