1. That's interesting, considering you spent quite a while hunting for 70's P's with Jpups fitted at the bridge. They'll all pretty braw though.

5.
what about on coated strings like elixirs? would it effect the coating?
The whole idea of coated strings like elixirs (who coat all of the string) is partly for a smoother feel, but mainly so the coating fills the gaps and keeps all the gunk out. When elixirs die, it's probably down to being streched so much, rather than gunk stopping them resonating properly I reckon. You'd have to ask them whether using a cleaning solution would affect the coatings, but once the coatings go, it's probably time to buy new strings.
6. You can fashion small tubes from domestic piping (the narrow ones, screw cap at the ends, seal one with silicone), fill 'em up with ethanol/meths and use them for dunking your strings and leaving them hanging over night. Just make sure you put a screw hook or similar in the cap that unscrews to attach the string to. /shamelessly robbed from someone who posted about it on BW. It'll be better than boiling as the ethanol will dissolve the dirt from the windings, rather than expanding the string so the dirt falls out.

T-Bird with distortion or overdrive?
8. For some reason I read the topic as "Urrrgh Buffy" and was going to come and post some gentle ribbing about making sure you clean up afterwards. I'm saddened that I cannot do so. However I did watch the video, the bloke can slap quite well.

10. Got bass at 16. Tried to teach self. I'm absolutly rubbish after nearly 5 years. Will be getting teacher over the summer to sort out my technique and give me material and exercises to build off.
11. Did you get her number? she was obviously quite hung up on you. /gets coat
12.
The Nell Gwynne, Southsea, Sat 19th. After the hour of fixing the saddle of the guitarists Fender Jag, another hour failing to get the lighting loom on the trailer working we played a fair gig in the most bass-sucking room this year. Fixed benches all round, leaving a nice 2-foot gap between amp and wall. The pool table was handy for the guitarists 2x12 though. And why did Ashdown make the cab handles stick out just a little bit too much to safely turn the cabs on their sides? Doh! Nice to find a fault with the Ashdown like so many others here have though, I don't feel excluded anymore. Just need a Precision to really belong!
Did you get Free beer in the 'Gwynne? The owners like to lay on free drinks on their open mic nights
13. Gaf, Leamington Spa eh? Which pub was it chap? I wonder if it's still there or at least doing live music still...
14. I think it's ugly. The wood looks alright, but the pup covers look 'orrible.
15.
Because things were running so behind schedule he asked us if we could "fake" some sort of electrical problem and not come back for the second set so the brother would have enough time to DJ. He offered to pay us for the full evening (which was about £2K) as much as we could drink at the bar and a £500K bonus to explain the "electrical problem" and slide off quietly.
500k??? You wern't by some chance playing for a Billionaire were you?
16. Well, it's like most things really, depends on tuner. Some of the cheapy ones are rubbish, the seiko one I bought off my mate for £15 is a really good tuner, tracks quickly and accurately, whereas the Korg GA-30 I got for £15 (left the seiko one at home) is a bit pants, struggles to find open low E (and even A), and takes its bloody time as well. It might not like flats with the tone rolled off however. I'll be replacing it in the summer.
17.
I stopped using roto flats when I got three bad sets together. They may have improved since, but they were total crap five years ago when I last bought them.
Ah, roto flats, probably able to be used to string a suspension bridge, the tension is that high.
18. Spend the extra and get one of the VMJ series. It'll be worth it. As it is, affinity are the bottom of the bottom, standard not much higher*. *Disclaimer, it's got cheap hardware, but you may find one thats really playable and put together well, in that case, you could upgrade bits.
19. It's pretty much just aimed at workplaces rather than punters, which is good.
20. REAL men wear pink.
21. Remember what they said in school: Always cut away from you, never towards!
22. Even though I know he was a good player, when you see video's like that that focus on him, you just have to stop and stare with your jaw on the floor at the pure godlike chops that man had.
23.
Yep, I've been wearing them for years now, but then Nike took them over, they became more popular and as the prices went up, the quality dropped rapidly. They're nowhere near as durable as they used to be even 4 years ago. Sad times.
^^ My first pair lasted a couple of years (everyday wear), but I've found now I'm going through a pair every 9 months or so. In fact, I got a new pair (the fourth pair iirc) at Christmas, I'm starting to wear through the inner sole (the canvas bit) already after 4 months :S
24. I just hope the ebay police arn't over enthusiastic and also stop private sales on ebay for EHX pedals.
25. Actually, Primark do some good stuff, might not be thick decent cotton t-shirts, but for summer wear they're gonna be great. Plus they're dirt cheap, t-shirts/jumpers/shirts for under £5. Suits can be had for about £20.
