1. Iron Maiden: Run to the Hills, Harris's triplet fest.
2. Oh. Just oh. Shockwave, you're a very very very bad man.
3. If it's a function band, they're playing to get paid, so they have to sets the punters will love. Just like most bands have to do songs they've played millions of times on gigs even though they're bored of them it's for the punters. If you're specifically playing stuff to get more work and to get money in, a job's a job after all, even if you don't particually like playing certain songs at least you'll be getting paid to play.
4. Hmm, Robert Trujillo counts as a 00's+ player I think, and he's rather good even if I don't like the tone his generally uses live.
5. To be fair, didn't Jamerson set his bass up will a silly high action and a large amount of bow in the neck? I can't help but think that the neck itself probably hasn't faired well if that bow was kept in it for 30 odd years. Can you give us a clue to the name? Or at least the general location, eg: London, Leeds, Brighton etc...?
6. Be afraid, be very afraid. I suspect you'll find something either been broken or got rid of in the next couple of days.

Wal Basses

No-one is daft enough to sell a normal Wal as they know they won't get it back ever and the prices keep going up? Also if were to take stock of all the players on the forum, probably around 90%-95% own a righty fretted bass(es).
8. Wow, fantastic! Cheers chap, that'll keep me busy for ages, and I've wanted to learn a couple of those like Fur Elise and Moonlight Sonata for a while now.
9. I concur with the above, just because Fender made the first ones, and became famous, there's no reasons why other manufacturers and luthiers can't do their own take on it. Besides, you pay roughly 800 quid for a factory made MIA standard Fender, but for a few hundred quid more you can have a luthier knock one up for you, which'll be tailored to your specifications and should turn out to be much higher quality instrument (with much tighter QC) for a fair bit cheaper than you'd pay for a CS / Masterbuilt Fender. After all, even though Karl Benz was the inventor of the modern automobile, we don't all ride around in Mercedes Benz's now do we?
10. Krist Novoselić, nuff said.
11. First band was called Miyagi Bypass (yes, one of the band members had recently been watching Karate Kid films). We did all of 3 practices because I don't have enough confidence in my abilities, the singer who had agreed to join bailed (not a major problem), while the lead guitarist was actually quite good and thought I had enough skill to be of use and the drummer wasn't bad but sped up every so often. So far alright and nothing major that couldn't be sorted.... Now, the rythmn guitarist...oh dear, he'd only had a guitar a few weeks, couldn't play chords (or anything really), and we didn't want to kick him out as he'd set the whole thing up. He was a mate as well. It kind of clicked home when the 3 of us (drums, lead, me) were running through Greenday's Minority and getting bored so he could play along and he couldn't play at all, eventually got the hang of the 3 chords for the verse, then kept playing those when we moved to the chorus. Also, in the first session I had to tune his guitar for him, 3 weeks after he'd had it he'd never tuned it, not even to itself. The clashing sound of 2 tuned up instruments vs one not intune with anything is quite interesting. So, 3 practices then nowt, however, the lead guitarist was up for me playing on his new project, but it was a heavy period of coursework and leading upto exams, so I couldn't commit. He's now in a band playing around Birmingham (where he's at uni). Apologies for length and girth.
12. Er, depends what you mean shedload, for around £200 you can pick up the VMJ Fretless from Squier, they get good press like it's fretted brother. Probably could pick up a cheaper one on here in the for sale section, or post a note in the wanted section with the money you're willing to part with.
13. Nope. If you'd have asked me 12 months ago, I would have said no, but also said I'd nearly nailed my sound which I thought was clear lows, but 12 months later I now want to sell off my middy p-j bass, and have become aquainted to the sounds of a jazz with the bridge pup on around 40% and playing over it, will tone about midway and neck on about 90%. Yet I think I don't get along with jazz necks, although that could be shoddy technique and the fact mine needs a professional to look at it.
14.
Of course (aside from being self a confessed 'theory illiterate'), but from what I've seen of him when he does get his turn in the spotlight he just does all his technique stuff, I really do love a shameless show of technical ability but thats just all I've seen of Sheehan, maybe I need to look into him more to see what he's really about but technique alone just doesn't keep my attention.
Youtube - Mr Big He's not exactly showing off there, nuff said
15. Currently, my T-bird, but that might be rectified this summer if I decide I like the wide neck. However, I don't think I'll miss my Aerodyne once I get rid of that.
16. If you can find out the voltage for the fans and if it's no more than 12v you should be able to replace them with "silent" (low noise) PC fans.
17. MMmm, I like the look of that valenti

Level Frets

Ah, that raised a chuckle. Surface level frets, I'm going to have to bandy that around here now just to confuse people
19. Ah, the Basstard, I remember the thread on BW that BT68 had when he put this beast together. That was quite a while ago now :S Have a free bump.
20.
i like a holly wood one with a phoenix feather core
It's bad I get that.
21. Drop a pm to Bloodaxe, he's got an Aria with a kahler trem fitted.
22. He does seem like a top bloke doesn't he? See, this is why bassists are just better. Singers wouldn't respond, guitarists wouldn't answer the question if you stopped them noodling long enough to respond, and drummers wouldn't know how to read email, much less reply
23. From a business sense, the company with it's debts isn't a thrilling prospect, but if they actually *own* some buildings that the stores are in (remember, some of those shops have been around for a while, only been bought out by other companies) they (individual shops) could be a nice buying prospect as you won't be having to deal with SC's problems, but you then have the issue of setting up all the industry links, building and maintaining a brand, getting stock and staff etc.....
24. *chortle*rusty ring*chortle* Sucks to hear that stuff went sour, but hopefully you'll be back with another band in no time.
25. I'd probably go with: One of the new 2008 MIA Jazzes A gibbo T-bird A 2EQ 'ray with a classic single MM pup. and a new Rick' 4003. oh, and a new Status T-Bird (graphite necked one) And a few packs of Status Halfwound hotwires, as they're my current flavour. I'd probably take one of the Lodestone Primal ones as well, just so I'd finally have one on hand to have a go with, after all, if you're doing headlining stadium tours, £800 isn't too much to have a play with one.
