Drop a line to Bloodaxe, he's got at least one trem equipped bass, he'll be able to help.
-
Something like a Warwick ProFet 3.2 or one of the new Ashdown Little Giants coupled with 15" cab be more in line of what you are thinking?
-
Oh yes, he's rather talented isn't he. Can't help but think he'll aways be living in his dad's shadow though. And I didn't think this was a thread about cat food, definitely not.
-
Brush painted? Wouldn't it have been easier to spray it then just smooth it off with 800 grit, rather than wet sand it? Either way, I can't wait to see what your sister will do to it.
-
Wow. That looks lush. Congrats on an excellent beauty of a bass.
-
Given that they've got identical headstock designs, which I suspect are patented by Status, go figure. Then again, a new status T-bass is probably double the cost.
-
You could always get one of the new Ashdown Little Giants, the 1000 (2x500w) seems right up your street, and it's sub £400. That's if you want a full mini amp rather than just a power amp.
IMO, the fact that you're considering it suggests that you should - you don't seem satisfied with what you have now and you've figured out what you'll sell to make it happen; sounds to me like you want to go for it but just need convincing
+1 to this really.
thats the one. any good. it was cheap i think
if you get a chance, go play one, I've not come across one yet. They are an Ashdown company, and seem to have an RRP of a American Standard, which if they're built nicely and the wierd headstock isn't an issue, they're better specced.

What's a ballpark finish for a setup and fret stoning?
If you are getting rattle from hitting strings hard, heavier strings will help too.
Been down a similar road already, I've recently (a few weeks, done the truss rod tweaks etc) taken off a set of Rotosound Flat's, which have enough tension to string up a suspension bridge and are incredibly stiff. They just masked the problem really, I just managed to keep the action resonably low with them due to the fact they don't move an awful lot, but the buzz was there on the previous set to them. It just needs a bit of tlc from a luthier. Besides, I'm possibly thinking of selling it late this summer, I just wouldn't let it go knowing that there's something wrong and that the buyer would have to sort it out, it's just not cricket really. -
I did say instruments, not just basses I was going for: Jazz, Precision, Jaguar, Strat and Tele. Granted they've got a couple of other things here and there, but they are the big F's main 5 you see fairly regulary (well, maybe not the the Jag).
I wonder if Fender will be releasing a limited edition custom shop version of the post repair bass? Complete with replicated splits and original identical tyre marks?
Shh, if they read this, they'll probably start full scale production in a week on tuesday. Stop giving them ideas to expand their current range of essentially 5 instruments.

You got legible speech out of a drummer? I suppose it's about hearing the strong beat and the pulse of the music, I suspect due to the fact drumming is a core foundation for rhythm alongside his tutorage means he's not aware of it and works at a technical level. Or I could be talking utter rollocks.

I like the pickup options and tonal palette of J's. I'm on the fence about the neck, need to try some P's and Ray's out, alongside some Warwicks.
Well i just went into my local soundcontrol (edinburgh) and their bass selection is actually better at the mo than normally! Nice VM Squire Jazz, 2 stingrays, 2 warwicks (even a second hand one) and some strange thing which had the same thing on the headstock as a trace T bass (but i forget what it was. oh and a 80's svt 3
A Lodestone? http://www.lodestoneguitars.com/bass/primal-pro/index.asp I thought these were the thing of legends, I've been waiting since last year for them to make an appearance in stores.

Thanks chaps! Also, Ballpark FINISH? what on earth was I on this morning, it should read price. -
I'm getting constantly annoyed by my Squier VMJ, and definitely need it looking at, buzzing or clattering all over the place unless I've got a rather high action (granted, I'm fairly rough which'll explain the clatter to an extent), what's a rough ball park estimate for the cost chaps? Cheers Buzz

Right, who else is going to join me in a moneyless wager giving Monsieur Beedster a count for 6 months before he changes basses again? Have to say, that Flea looks tasty due to it's simplicity, how's the hand (or was it arm or fingers?) by the way Beedster?
-
Robert Trujillo. Honestly, he may be a good bassist, but he impersonates a monkey on stage, I can't take him seriously when I see live footage of Metallica. /misses point of the thread.
Stupid question maybe....but the Slow Motion pedal..how's that work then?
Can you imagine running through treacle?
-
I would have said yes a couple of years ago, as I wanted a Fender, and that was that. Then I got a Squier VMJ last year and have been impressed by other brands. So, no, not any more. People who do give you grief over your gear are in my opinion, shallow bastards, they can have their opinion all they like, but if somone tells me x piece of gear is crap because it's x brand (barring general consensus reached by a multitude of forum members, ie: Behringer pedals (not the DI one)), then I'd probably think they're being prats if they haven't tried said item out. If they've tried it out, it's an informed opinion based on their experience ie, they may have tried 5 different badly setup friday afternoon squiers, therefore deem all squiers are crap. Which I'll take in mind then probably ignore. And I quote: "Opinions are like arseholes; everyone has got one".
Yeah, I was starting to think that I may be fallible.
Don't worry, if one of us saw you falling, we'd be there with rope and a quick pep talk.

If you don't have lights, you should .. buy these

To illustrate a point: Bloody drama. -
I'd consider it, but I'm currently living down in Pompey for the next couple of months, so I'll have to pass, thanks for the offer though.

Yeah, it cropped up in the SC thread. Tis a shame, althought the bass section has gone down in the last couple of years, that thread explains why. Oh well, looks like the only one left is that not very good one that's also on Regent Street, opposite the stagecoach office if I remember correctly. Although, there's Bass Direct as well for more exotic basses and amps (contact Poptart on here). I actually sent one of my best mates a message on facebook earlier, we've decided we'll just have to spend a few more quid extra getting the train to brum and going to Fairdeal and PMT, rather than shopping in our home town. offtopic: Hello fellow Leamingtonian!
