1. This came up last week on another thread, Gibbo Grabber it is indeed.
2. Circuit board etching is fun I remember doing it...erk, nearly 5 years ago at secondary school. Be careful with the acid btw, it stains like no other.
3. I think the ones who're most likey to shop at exclusive bass shops are more likely to be friendly people as they give a big enough sh*t about their choice of instrument to seek out said businesses. However, I got really riled up just after christmas, was at a local open mic night, a bassist I know from uni got up to play with other people from the society, and the previous bands bassist slagged him off to his own band because he was playing a RHCP line with a pick rather than fingers. Thought that lad was an utter twat to be honest after that so avoided speaking to him.
4. That pickguard looks decidely off, look by the neck pocket (g-string side) doesn't fit right it seems.
5. Dammit, gas gas gas.
6. I really suspect if it's £300 quid and SS, it'll be like the Crush series and manufactured elsewhere. Either way, good news really, as everyone knows (who're UK based) with Ashdown/TE/Marshall, dealing with a British manufacturer for replacement/repairs is rather good.
7. I thought your 4 string Vigier was more orangy that that ped? or is it the fiver that's got an orange tint?
8.
Hmmmm....It's been edited, but the original post said he was offering 10% off until end of March.....
You mean this post in the basses section? 9. Cor, that was quick, 5 minutes for Alun to get it right Have a cookie sir!
10. YAY! +1 For the Guitar Emporium, got my jap Aerodyne off them, great service!
11.
Cheers man, the reason I tabbed it out like that was because I wasn't using the other string but next time i'll just leave them blank, i'm glad most of that song was right, it's been like the 2nd song i've learnt by ear. Damn, I don't feel like cheating and looking at the tab but I will I guess Thanks. Cliff
He means because you've done it upside down by the looks of it, you've got: E|---- A|---- when accepted tab form is E (or B, or F#) is lowest, ala: G|----------------------------- D|---55--5-5--5-55-5-------- A|---------------------3-1-3-1 E|-33--3-3-33-33-3---------- (It isn't lovecats, but 5 points and an e-cookie to anyone who can name song for theriff)
12. I've said no. I would, but like others have said, it's a mess.
13. Personally, I think that bass looks a bit cack, I prefer the style and look of the Attitude.

Squier VM Jazz

Just a note, you'll probably lose less money on the VMJ if you keep it in good nick and come to sell it on, due to it being a top of the line Squier and all that.
15. +1 to the brushed metal idea, something from The Aurora Project (or a similar place, I think Allparts or WD to brushed 'plates as well), and black is alright, but I do like white on it, so white perloid would be another good one. Brown tort might work on it, red tort is too garish imo. [s]Odd suggestion, how's the routing under it? Perhaps it would look alright with a cut down control plate on it (someone on here does it to their P's, looks pretty good).[/s] Just read it's a MIM, which means gaping route to the pup, so ignore this little suggestion.

thunder lakky!?

I'd like that, I'd like that alot. T-bird gas is building to stupid levels again, I really must go to my local shop which has one this week.
17. The 350w looks interesting, full 350w into a combined 4ohm load like a conventional amp, rather than the 'fly's 2x250@4ohm. That, and it reminds me of Green Giant Sweetcorn http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/detail.as...labs&ID=211
18. EB Slinkies, very zingy imo.
19. ... this talk of the T-bird isn't doing my GAS any favours.

Squier VM Jazz
I'd like a Squier VM but I can't decide which to get. I like the look of both the Precisions and both the Jazzes. Don't think it matters anyway because I always swap the bridges for BadAsses and pickups for Duncans. But they look awesome and I've not heard any bad reviews of them and you an get them for really reasonable prices. If only there were a 5 string version.
Apparently the Squire Deluxe has that covered: http://www.squierguitars.com/products/sear...rtno=0300575500 There's a very favourable review in the reviews section for it as well. Back on topic, I own a VMJ. While I was at home with both it and my Fender Aerodyne (Jap non-export), the VMJ got picked up all the time and played more. For the £219ish I paid, cracking bass.
21. Ask DHA (check the other sub-forums) He might be able to source a bigger power section for his new amps, granted they're hybrid, but it's a more valvey hybrid.
22. +1 for Busters and Direct. Never had a problem, even ordered my B-stock tele from them. Saved about £30 iirc on a Squire Affinity, new strings and a quick and rough fret level job and it's ok for a cheapy.
23. Tried Elixirs/Dr Coated/Warwick EMPs? Coated strings will probably save your bacon at the very least, so that's a number of brands.
24. That semi is gorgeous, and is that a bound neck I spy as well? Yummy.

Search
There is a 2 character limit, not 4. We are using a custom search thing which is far better than the mysql one. Some day I will fix G&L, but it ain't a simple fix I'm afraid. Use this for now: http://www.google.com/search?q=site:basschat.co.uk+g%26l
Nu-uh, search box refuses saying "Not Enough Characters" until you enter 4. This is the search box via My Assistant.
