1. I also play F# as it sounds correct when listening to the CD version.
2. I ??????? think ?????? it ???????? probably ???????? can???????? Sorry, excessive question marks in the title lead to bleeding eyes and a small amount of anger at people doing stupid things. Right, first things first. Leave your opinon about "first" basses at the door, and don't pick it up next time you walk past it. A modern budget bass will be pefectly fine for almost anything you can throw at it. The Vintage V4 gets good reviews on here, and I can speak for a substantial amount of people when I say the Squier (note the spelling) are brilliant basses for £200. The Vintage Modified and Classic Vibe basses are better than Fender's Mexican basses. Here, have some reading material, basschatters reviews of the Squier Vintage Modified Precision: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=12694 ('57 style, aka, modern p-bass) http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=111 (Telebbass version with the large silver humbucker at the neck) The only Squiers you have to avoid are the Affinity series, and even then, if you can find a good one they're still good beaters.
3. I've got EB's on my Aerodyne, not impressed, seem like a rather scooped sound on that bass. They play quite nicely though.
4. And bassists are meant to be the sensible ones in a band, pffft.
5.
Maybe a better word than 'sacked' should be used as often it carries a lot of negative feeling. Taking the cue from how its done in corporations (like the one that 'rightsized' my job at xmas - the right size being zero), in future perhaps we should refer to situations like this as the rhythm section needing to be 'in-time-drummered'.
It's a load of crap though isn't it? "We're going to have to let you go" and all that rubbish is worse, as you know it means sacked, but no-one has the stones to say it and are hiding behind niceties.
6.
All I can remeber playing one round a friends house is DAMN do they dive!
Psst, if you move the top strap pin to the neck heel on the BO they balance like a charm
7. Dunno, depends if there is a left over neck or not. If I do buy a Pro and I like how it sounds, it'll stay in one piece and be up for cheap sales on here most likely. If I gut the pups from it, we'll see, I might put it on here for cheap, but I'll be wanting to get rid of the body as well and won't be just selling the neck on.
8. If you're thinking of getting one beware the new model, the Epiphone T-Bird Pro, should surface next month. Bascially, the current T-Bird is a Bolt On, and has a really wide neck (it's 1.73", but quite thin) [s]which on par with the original t-birds iirc[/s], the new Pro is much like the current Gibson ones, neck through and with a width at the nut of 1.5". The Epiphone ones are also very difficult to play past the 15th fret, the combination of the heel block for the BO and the lack of a deep cutaway conspire to make life difficult. The only problem is that with the new active electronics (2EQ) and pups in the Pro and different neck woods (Pro has a maple walnut 7 piece laminate), no-one has a clue how they're going to sound. I'm *really* looking forward to trying one this summer though And in preperation of it sounding sh*te, I've aquired an Epiphone T-bird which I plan on gutting for the pups as the bridge isn't aligned properly to the body and neck and I can't be arsed to fix it. Edit: yes, 34".
9. Not my loft, but earlier this year I went up into one of my friends student house's loft, found some Amiga 500's and 1200's, lots of dogdy eastern films, and some 80's porn. Also found an old school boom box. The porn was rubbish, but for some odd reason 8 drunk students did find it quite amusing.
10.
Roger Manganelli from Less Than Jake. Manic bass lines, plus you have to love those dreads lol
Big fat +1, although, Less Than Jake are ska, and busy bouncy basslines are fairly common. I'm suprised people are suprised at good bassists and good basslines in Punk though, people like JJ Burnel and Paul Simonon are just examples of more good bassists who put interesting lines to their songs. Although I'll concede pop-punk does seem to love straight 8th lines.
11. I'm going to take a different view on this. Just because you've got 4k floating round and you feel like another new bass (even though you were raving about one of your latest aquistions here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=47872 only a few weeks ago), I have to ask why you you feel like spending upto 4k on a bass? Just because you've got the money you feel you should get a top top top of the line one? I know it's your money and all, but that seems a bit...well...flimsy as a reason. If you're certain you want and need a new bass, find and try loads, you might find something utterly amazing that does everything you want for £800 rather than spending £2500+ on a Celinder and finding it's not quite what you want. After trying loads and pinning down what you do want, if you can't find a model in retail, go get a custom one built. In short, just because you've got 4k, don't feel the need to actually *spend* all of it, or any at all, as just because a bass is top of the line and expensive, doesn't mean it's the one for you. And as a final point which people are quite apt to forget, I paraphrase the old saying "Don't buy anything you can't afford to replace".
12. That bacchus is rather swish!
13. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if it's a 'custom' one, therefore I'm presuming a top of the line model, won't it have USA pickups in? I know that most current top of the line Jap ones come with USA pickups (going off Guitar Emporium for details), no idea about '93 though. And I would have thought a 'custom' model would generally come with the better parts. And welcome to the forums!
14.
So who do i send it to?!
Paul.
15.
Racist.
Crumpet eating wretch!
16.
Yes, open your mind................and please let me know the people in this forum who can give Serino "a run for his money". Maybe a few vids I could watch and learn from? I just love the hilarious comments we get in here. Of course, it's all about opinions, and it appears there are a significant number of individuals who get VERY aggressive if someone posts a comment that jars. Believe me, you can just ignore comments and avoid the stress damage while trying to get your point over. Simply PROVE your point. Thanks
Pot, Kettle anyone?
17. Wooten has no soul? He's a ginger in disguise? Bloody hell! Edit: Beaten to it by The_D by only 20 minutes.
18. If it's getting too hot and is indeed thermal shutdowm, how'd you feel about making some holes and putting in a 120mm pc fan? They run at 5 or 12v and it should be relatively easy to fit them. Seems to be looking at the manual that there's no fan on that amp, but if there is one, tried cleaning it?
19. Different strings? Have to say I've not had a problem under normal tuning with the G string. And you can fit a badass to an Aerodyne, I did to mine for a little bit (and even wrote about it if you check the BadAss FAQ in Repairs and Technical Issues), you just need to create a shim, ideally of hardwood or metal to fill the recessed cavity and then you can mount the badass so it makes proper contact. It will damage the finish though if you want it to be as flush as possible to the other raised bits of the body and you do it up tight. Or you can route out a bigger area, but that's a permanent mod.
20. Cuz you're too shy shy, hush hush, eye to eye, too shy shy, hush hush....eye to eye!
21. For the £500 you spent, go get a Jap one or a second hand USA. The Jap's are very good in the QC department and to my knowledge, there has not ever been a mention of a bad Jap Fender on this forum or it's previous incarnations (iirc ofc). Or get a top end Squier. The Classic Vibe and Vintage Modified series's are fantastic. Edit: The Jap ones fall between the Mexi and MIA range as well, the higher Jap's with proper wood bodies (Ash/Alder etc..) often come with USA pickups. Check out GuitarEmporium if you want a Jap one, Malcom is a top bloke.
22. Just about sums up my views on the matter.

PCB's

Would you entertain orders for other non musical etchings if supplied with circuit printouts? Just a thought for those people who do hobby electronics, also, how much is all the etching gear costing if you don't mind my asking? I remember the heat tanks not being too expensive, but UV boxes were extortionate iirc (or it's the other way around).
24. ^^ DRs. I like the set of Sunbeams I stuck on recently after suggestions along similar lines as this request from this forum not very long ago.
