1. Lovely collection there, BB. I especially like your recent stripped-down 79 Precision build
2.
C'mon.. someone must want it. Four years old. 7 pence or offers.
That's a decal. Definitely not from the Fujigakken plant. Sorry mate but you have been done
3. Chiseller. I saw you bought this on TalkBass for 4p last week. Its people like you that destroy the community spirit here. I'll give you 5p though if you cover PayPal fees
4. Very nice job! There have been some fantastic self builds recently on BC (cd_david's Roger Waters Precision, BurritoBass' latest stripped Precision and now this one)
5. 'Ow much? Good price. Cheap as Asda. Cheap as chips. Cheap as shoplifting
6. Just bought a Demeter compression pedal off Adam. it arrived quickly, well packed and was in excellent condition. Adam is selling off a load of stuff on BC and based on my deal no one should have any qualms at all. best of luck with the sales Adam
7. In the (unlikely!) event anyone was planning to turn up to this, a combination of the rubbish weather and putting my back out (I suspect from lumping DB and amp through Camden in snow on Weds night) has ruled me out of this. Apologies. There will be plenty more gigs next year and hope to see you there!
8. Hey Dave, if you can get over Liverpool Street way in the next week (my office is 99 Bishopsgate), I can lend it to you to try out. PS, thanks Gareth for describing the amp's sound better than I could!
9.
You ever tried tap-dancing with a broken leg?
No but I have seen a horse fly
10.
Yes, the PedalTrain Nano looks rather good. The unbelievably big wahoozey of a pedalboard that Clarky accused me of (above) is actually my middle-sized one (!) and it's the Gator thingy with a built-in power supply. Really jolly good for my 3-piece band where I need to do lots of things to fill in the sound. My BIG pedalboard, ah now, that's something else again ...
Show off
11. Thanks DH and Nigel (Yorick). Think I will go for the Pedaltrain Nano as its the smallest, easiest to handle, and is a pretty good price
12.
I doubt it's in jest, Paul. He looks ridiculous
Says who?
13.
Pedaltrain Nano, NYC Lunchbox, or roll your own? All you need is a small wooden board and maybe an aluminium camera case from Maplin/interweb.
Thanks Dan, the Nano looks very user-friendly
14. Tumbleweed! Pretty please?
15.
the way he looks has absolutely no relevance to anything.
Sense of humour failure Doddy?
16. Offers close to asking price? Gwaaaaannnn, you know you want it. And I have my eye on something else and need to raise some cash
17.
And the scratchplate nearly fits aswell
that will be the tort shrinking, revealing the metal shield underneath. Very common on early 60s Precisions, tino!
18. His name was (probably still is) Craig or should that be CRAIG?
19. Most of the pedal boards and bags I see on websites are for people with mahoosive pedal set-ups (Happy Jack are you reading ). I would like to set up a compact board containing only a tuner (TC Polytuner), Sansamp BDDI and my incoming Demeter Compulator compression pedal. They don't take up much space at all and I want each of them to run on batteries, not mains power, so it can be a very simple board/bag. Does anyone have any suggestions for something appropriate? Cheers!
20.
In that case, I would have picked a song to start the set that any decent engr could mix on the hoof...but agree that with that amount of instruments, it would be a trial....so something easy to start off.. I assume he made sure all the signal chains worked...but it doesn't sound like you got lucky with the engr choice either....??? He has a 14 piece band to mix and forgets to nail the settings...!!!!!!!
Nope he had 6 of us and a tape and he forgot the settings! The first band incidentally had to re-start their set after the most enormous feedback howl set in in the middle of their first song. So, yeah, we didn't get lucky with the sound engineer!
21. I think you should talk to 51m0n on the subject of compressors. He convinced me Here is 51m0n:
22.
If the kit sounds good acoustic or through the backline, then I wouldn't be hanging round for some idiot who can't get his signals right.
The difficulty is we are a 14-piece band normally. Last night the snow meant there were 6 of us (2 vocals, trumpet, trombone, souzaphone, DB), with no drummer or guitars. So we had to play to tapes, which means we had to do some serious sound-balancing.
23. Is that £130 including post for Compulator? If so please could I take it? Happy to do Paypal as gift Please PM me
24.
oh and the band before us had a DB player who didn't have an amp and asked me immediately before they went on stage if I wouldn't mind him using my preamp/amp for their set
On this point, to be clear (lest you all think I am a tw@t), I generally am happy to share back line but only when agreed in advance. I don't appreciate being given a fait accompli - had I said 'no', he would have been up sh*t creek. Furthermore, I had to struggle the best part of a quarter of a mile (have you tried parking in Camden?) through snow carrying my double bass and my combo to the venue. Meanwhile this young dude rocks up without the same hassle and says "Mind if I borrow you speaker [sic]?"
25.
Proud wasn't too bad when I played there with Kit, but a prima donna girl band took ages sound checking, and were pissed off (and showing it) with the engineer. In all my time, the only sound checks that the venue started on time was at the Dublin Castle, and Revenge in Brighton. And still the other bands were late. It's a joke. I hate tardiness. There are a lot of w***y bands around that think they should be treated like U2 but can't even turn up on time. And venue equipment is woefully out of date, like their engineers usually. I wish everywhere had digital desks and proper sound reinforcement. I prefer playing decent sized festivals. Just a line check and we're away.
The promoter changed between us booking Proud and playing and the original soundman was not there last night either. I suspect you had the previous people Nigel
