10. It has been tempting me for a while now - especially as I'm looking for an '82 P Bass......
11.
GAK have some good deals How much?
That's a rediculous price, especially as Coda are charging a few quid more for their Custom Shop 58 and 59 P Basses

15. Welcome aboard, I've still got my '62 P Bass which my dad bought me in the 70's - my first bass and I love it
16. I tried five strings on several occassions but have always gravitated back to four.
17.
As for the question of "is it worth it?", it's definitely at the steep end of the price range for a used Wal, considering new ones start at a little over £3000 now. You'd have to figure in the cost of a new fretboard being fitted, preferably by Wal. That'd ramp the cost up quite a bit.
They start at £3200 PLUS VAT which takes them to over £3800.

20. I would (and have) gone for Durham Electronics Sex Drive. Unbelievably great tone and works equally well on guitar and bass http://durhamelectronics.com/sexdrive.html Wound up these provide that 'on the edge' SVT sound, very 'grindy' and the two levels of compression work nice (which can be bypassed)
21. Where do you get all these basses......
22. So, let's have a picture of the bass now it's sorted
