1.
+1 As I mentioned in the other recent thread about waxing, I recall reading this tip from Dana B. Goods, who used to be the distributor for Warwick in the US. They said not to wax the neck as not only will your hand oil it quite capably, waxing on top of this will lead to a greasy neck, as mentioned, which is particularly noticeable over prolonged periods of playing. The wax will warm up and seep out of the neck, leading to an off-putting greasiness.
I have waxed the neck of my Thumb NT when doing the rest of the bass and it seems OK to me.
2. I actually like these - had one many years ago
3.
I play all sorts of stuff during it. Mainly to numb the total horror of having to play a song with zero relevance to me personally or to my taste in music that is played by every single rock covers band on the planet as if the last thirty odd years have never happened or if they have happened that nobody has written a better song since which is quite frankly ridiculous because there must be a gazillion songs to choose from that would go down equally well some of which may have at least been written in this century. And breathe.
...and therefore feeding the ongoing homage to said song

9. You just have to try it and find out. If it sounds good then that is al that matters - the tone difference between even solid state amps can be wide (my TC amps sound very different to my Markbass amps, and my Eden different to both of these) so it is not just a Solid State versus Valve thing. Most people associate the classic Rick sound with all valve amps though.

15. I'd like to think that colour wouldn't matter to me if it was a great bass, but sadly it does.
16. Sorry I couldn't make it but I have come down with that flu bug. Looks to have been good

18. You have actually tried the Squier and liked it and, for me, that would seal the deal. I would rather purchase a bass that I have felt and thought was right than take a chance on what might turn up through the post.......
19. Also....does 'off white' count?
20. My 'go to' bass at the moment:
