1. ok so was bored today! so i was looking around on the youtube for some effects pedals as the missus has said she might get me something for xmas, well ive been looking at ringmods for a while also looking for a good filter. well stumbled on the moog pedals ive always thought they were really expensive, which i know some of them are but the two i was intrested in are just about in my price range! :-) for the ring mod, id want a very subtle effect not the crazyness that these pedals can do! but i like the idea that they could go mental! and the low pass sounds awesome! but my question on this is there anyone who uses them on a rock gig!? also i heard from a friend that the drive controls are a bit weird? anyone care to elaborate? thats all he said! just so you know the other pedals im looking at are the ehx ring mod and the way huge ringworm. filters ive looked at the q tron, mxr and the aguilar filter twin. andy
  2. a quick bump for the last few bits!
  3.
EHX Micro Pog is about the best of the bunch for up & down if you don't want synth stuff. Clean sounding and great tracking.
+1 i used to have a boss hr-2 really nice pedal! very digital sounding! but you can adjust the volume of each harmony, and choose the key. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_glicdtzEYw andy
  4.
Why not just get a rack power amp? It'd let you use your BDDI as a pre-amp and give you exactly the tone you already know you like.
+1 or gk? there heads are nice! and i think there in your budget! the markbass lm2's are awesome aswell! dnt be put by the fact that they are normally used clean they sound awesome with a muff ! andy
  5.
Updated shot - A few tweaks made and little additions in place (sorry about the bad iphone shot. I tried to lighten it up a little and made it worse!). Better pics soon... Having just rehearsed with this, I am very very happy. The Pitchfactor has opened loads of door for me while still doing everything the Whammy DT did (that I used on it anyway!)... Had a few folks asking about my signal chain and stuff via PM recently, so rather than keep typing this out, here is what I'm running (brace yourselves): (Bass) > Stageclix wireless receiver > Boss OC-2 Octave > TC Electronics Polytune (after OC-2 as the wireless doesn't like going into a true bypass pedal!) > Input of Boss LS-2 Line Selector > ----- LS-2 Channel 1 send > --- Moogerfooger MF-107 FreqBox (Moog EP-2 connected to Frequency) > --- Zvex Mastotron (Bypass Looper switch 1) > --- WMD Geiger Counter (Bypass Looper switch 2) > --- Tone Factor Fuzz Saw (Bypass Looper switch 3) > --- 3Leaf Audio Groove Regulator (Bypass Looper switch 4) > --- Boss PN-2 Tremolo/Pan (Bypass Looper switch 5) > --- Eventide Pitchfactor (Connected to Ernie Ball VP JR Pedal) > --- Moogerfooger MF-102 Ring Modulator (MP-201 connected to Frequency) > --- Moogerfooger MF-103 12-Stage Phaser > --- Moogerfooger MF-108M Cluster Flux (MP-201 connected to Rate) > --- Moogerfooger MF-101 Low Pass Filter (MP-201 connected to Cut-Off) > ----- LS-2 Channel 1 return > ----- LS-2 Channel 2 send > --- EBS Unichorus > ----- LS-2 Channel 2 return > Boss LS-2 Line Selector Output > Boss DD-20 Giga Delay > > (EBS 1v2 Pre amp, Crown XTi 1000 Power amp, Barefaced Big Twin T) And breathe...
dude! your killing me! eventide! i love the sound of those pedals in the new year im gonna try and grab a space! damn youtube! additions for next year to my board are gonna be pricey! eventide space or tc nova reverb, a nova modulator a wah (probs 105q) oh and im gonna go to a stereo rig as well so somehow have to find the monies for a second rig! oh the joys of gas!
  6.
Yep, just the master is unaffected. As to cabs, I;m not a fan of TC Cabs which is why I use Bergantino. You ought try a number of cabs from different makers with the head before deciding what to go with.
yeh i suppose your right, kinda fancy trying out one with my 610! cool this looks like a good idea for a second amp! need to find the monies now tho!
  7. hi guys! im thinking of getting a tc head for a lighter weight amp next year as im considering setting up a dual rig, well i am but its gonna take a while! ive used the search thread and i love the sound of the tc amps! and in an ideal world id buy the blacksmith! but i like having two kidneys! but i do have one question that i can't find out anywhere. are the three presets able to change all the setting or are they just for the eq? ie can u change the tube tone and spectracomp levels as well? and on a secong note im gonna go with a 210 but will the cheaper cab that tc do be ok or should i just get the higher priced cab? theres about 200 notes in it? andy
  8. i was looking into getting a tc g major 2 a while back some awesome sounds, delays, reverbs, pitch shifting, modulation! and loads more but no dirt but its an amazing effect! in the end i went with pedals as im only gonna use delay, reverb and some modulation so it was a bit over the top. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_njX52NyaA the video is a guitar but very cool unit. andy
  9. ive seen the dynamics pedal! but im never really sure the best way to use a compressor!? im stuck at the minute, do i get the nova reverb or the hall of fame mini pedal? the nova style pedal has the ability to save a preset so i have two reverbs on tap, which i like. the hall of fame is really similar to the nova bar the preset and there less reverbs to choose from. im def gonna try and grab a modulator and ive decided to replace my ehx memory boy with the nova repeater ( when i have the money that is! ) andy
  10. is it purely the eq that you can save in the 3 presets, ive been thinking about getting a 450? with one of the cheaper tc cabs andy
  11. been looking at these pedals online as im looking to save some space on my pedal board and was wondering if anyone has tried these pedals out? im looking to save some space on my board so i looked at the nova modulator first by combining my chorus, flanger etc into one pedal it would save me alot of room and this pedal would give me more effects to, like vibrato and trem (i might never use them but there there) also its got two effect engines(as they put it) so i can mix chorus with trem etc if i wanted? or have two chorus going at once, or six as they have tri chorus! but im wondering if any of you guys have tried one out? also i have got in to reverb on my bass recently and tc also do a reverb pedal in the nova series which looks and sounds awesome! lots of diferent types to choose from, so same question again really!? anyone tried it? the alternatives that ive looked at are the line 6 mm4 (bigger than the nova pedals) and the boss rv-5. both are stereo outs and ins like the tc stuff. so what you think? andy
  12. for me chillis will always be chad, flea, john and kiedis i saw them at earls court on the stadium aracadium tour and they were awesome! josh was on that tour playing second guitar they sounded huge! but it just doesnt work for me without john! plus there new stuff is just not for me. on the other hand tho flea sounds good on the new stuff!
  13. wednesday night bump! now open to some possible trades? andy
  14.
There is a slight volume drop compared to going into the amp directly and I'd say a very slight loss of bottom end 'clarity'. The changes are very slight though, and for me, no worry as I don't use a clean bass tone EVER, plus the EQ I use on the amp is extreme (big boost of 50hz). I've spent a lot of time and money getting the signal path as clean as possible.
i see! kinda like you'd notice but an audience would not!? andy
  15.
There are several variations on the subject, but I quite like the EHX Steel Leather. It is basically the opposite of a compressor, but what it does is increase the attack, great for fat metal tone (especially if you don't use a pick). http://www.ehx.com/p...s/steel-leather
cool ill check it out andy
  16. nice! is there any signal loss after going thru all the pedals? andy

    Boss LS2

    everything shep said!!!
  18.
That are wise words, it should always be to better your own tone not to copy..... unless you are in a tribute band No matter if you use exactly the same gear, fingers en style make up a fair bit of the equation and thus one bassist will always sound a little different from another. Good luck with your quest for tone........
yeh i completely agree! oh and what did you mean by expander pedal i forgot to ask? andy
  19.
There's a Youtube video of his brother - also his bass tech! - talking people through his live gear. Some very impressive stuff, was a little envious!
yeh its pretty cool isnt it! just really annoying theres no pedal board walk through!
  20.
No worries, I think many bassists are quite protective of how they achieve their sound, I have spent lots of time and effort in understanding what Justin Chancellor, Timmy C, Chris Wolstenholme and Troy Sanders use - they are all quite secretive. One thing I realized is that they all use "clean" and "dirty" amps and that signal splitting is one of the reasons why they sound so massive....... they lose no low-end and always have that basis to work with. With my option you actually don't split signal between 2 amps or cabs (like a cross over). What I do is: Bass>Morley ABY Mix Pedal (this pedal has a separate A and B output, splits the signal in 2) Output A - CLEAN Output B - Dirty (lots of Fuzz, OD, Filter etc pedals) Both these chains are then combined again using another ABY pedal (A+B=Y) so that I then have a single input into my GB STM 900. I've played around with 2 amps, but for most of us the extra elbow grease and space is not handy and this accomplishes the same. One important thing to note: I actually use a blender in my output B chain so that I can completely manage how dirty my dirty signal is (if this makes any sense). Your Aguilar DB750 is "nice" amp, so you may need to crank some mids (or have an expander pedal) on the dirty signal chain to give that smack in the face an Ampeg SVT at full whack would give. Never hesitate to contact me, I will gladly help in sourcing pedals etc. Might as well help some people miss the hassle and aggro I went through...
yeh i love my db750! gain cranked and like you say push the mids, sounds really nice and add my boss 0c-3 and either odb-3 or way huge swollen pickle! im in love but i would love to just have some lovely thick bottom to round out my sound, which could be coming from this second amp, plus i kinda wanna see if i can use the stereo outs on some of my pedals? like my bf-3 and im looking into the ehx pulsar trem. my board has quite alot of dirt on it like troys, ive got a metal muff and the swollen pickle and odb-3. i blend the muff with clean using an ls-2 so i can't say that my sound is small! and just incase people take this as me wanting to copy troys tone, im just looking to see what i can do to make mine better! andy
  21.
He uses a Wren and Cuff Pickle Pie B for all the Muff type sounds nowadays. The board on Talkbass is old....... fyi. Key is clean amp + another amp for FXs. Good if you have the money and the roadies. I have the poor man's option: Morley ABY> A signal direct for clean + B signal for FX (with added blend pedal for best bass response and more flexibility)>a second ABY>Multicomp>GB Streamliner 900 I would suggest you buy an Earthbound Supercollider, Wren and Cuff Pickle Pie B or Wounded Paw attack goat (or AND) for the Muffs as they all have variable MID, while Muff always sounds Scooped. The MXR El Grande is really good for the money. My 2cents.
thanks man! ive heard of those pedals! so ill check them out! on the dual rig thing im def looking into it! ive been close a few times but its never really been viable but my band heard troys bass sound and we all love it! so i think im gonna try and get something together? im thinking of maybe trying to get a 210 combo and use that for my clean then i can use my current 610 and aguilar as my dirty. ive found a video of his rig but they skip his pedalboard!! Grrr! andy
  22. a little sunday morning bump! im open to offers so please pm me if your interested in something andy
  23. saturday night bump. andy
  24.
I thought he'd swapped over to an MXR El Grande for his fuzz?
i know he switches pedals alot, ive heard rumours hes using the new mxr bass fuzz, the bronze one. and i just read that he used a tc chorus. all info is helpfull guys thanks andy
  25.
Now looking at a Warwick 611 (6 x 10) 6 ohm cab. Anyone had any experience of these? Meant to be 900 watts (1200 peak) but at 5.3 ohms. So I'd get about 700 - 750 using a 4 ohm head? Now thinking of a cheap alternative to the Ampeg. Would the Warwick be as good as...?
id say that it being 6 0hms just causes a few problems? i mean although you may never want to its nice to know i can add another 4 ohm or 2 8 ohm cabs to my current head? andy
